Be honest Into The New World is so iconic even until now. it's always being played at the protest and rally due to its lyrics that's pretty much about a hope for better future. this is a song that all female trainees in kpop would practice due to the hard choreo and vocal, the standard for trainees. literally all idols know this song and choreo (especially female idols). this song is chosen as the best idol debut song (even until now). lots of producer and song writer got request for creating a similar songs to this. long story short, THIS SONG IS A LEGEND AND ICONIC EVEN UNTIL NOW.,Also I suggest waiting to watch the ballad version of the song when the time is right, although it will be heartbreaking.
“Into the New World” MV was remastered recently. That’s why it has good quality, subtitles and that SM outro. It wasn’t there originally. “Girls’ Generation” is actually a remake of a song by Lee Seung Chul, released in 1989. It’s the year most of the members were born in and that’s where the group’s name comes from.
Some interesting ITNW facts: 1) The first bar ( and musical theme ) of ITNW is note for note taken from Dvorak's "The New World" symphony...just played with a different tempo and 'attack'...a thoughtful and clever 'plagiarism'. 2) Others have already mentioned that ITNW became a civil protest anthem...how many other groups ( Korean or otherwise ) can you think of that have such a distinction? 3) Since 1995 the Korean Entertainment Producers Association has held the "Dream Concert", a celebration and showcase of K-Pop featuring a variety of established artists and rookies from various agencies. At the end of the Dream Concert, all the performers walk out on the stage to wave goodbye and accept a final applause from all the fans, to the tune of "Arirang"...a very old Korean folk song used as a resistance anthem against the occupying Japanese that is also common to North Korea, and which has been listed twice with UNESCO as an "Intangible Cultural Asset"...so its is a deeply ingrained, historically significant anthem that has used as Dream Concert's closing from ( I think,) the start, for maybe 20 years...UNTIL 2019, when they closed with "ITNW"...even though SNSD didn't perform tehn, and hadn't performed at the Dream Concert for 5 years. ITNW has been described in the Korean media as Korea's "2nd National Anthem"....and its really no exaggeration. It's just one of many reasons the group is now usually described "The Legendary So Nyuh Shi Dae " Regarding "Girls Generation": Lee Seung Chul's original version is frankly...weird...it's some sort of 'Rock' fused with I don't know what, and he sings in falsetto quite a bit...but it was very popular at the time, so much so that other artists wanted to perform cover versions...but he turned them all down, until he heard the SNSD arrangement. He didn't just permit them to do the cover, he performed with them on a music show...an impressive endorsement from an established star for a 'rookie' group. SNSD's version is WAY better than the original. In the MV my guess is that Seohyun really is playing the piano part faithfully...she's an excellent , classically trained piano player. Sooyoung is also really playing the drums...not as expertly as the recording, but she's keeping the beat and using the snare and hitting the cymbals appropriately. It's basic drumming, but it works for the MV...she isn't faking ( you can see for yourself if you watch the "Way To Go/Himnae" MV which is basically an entertaining mess of SNSD rehearsing Way To Go WHILE they were in-between takes shooting the Girls Generation' video. Link: ua-cam.com/video/_0Ke2fThnG0/v-deo.html As for other performance recommendations...there's so many, and I think its a fact is that no other group has such a variety, depth and strength of good and great vocalists...even by SM's standards. I agree with '@kndsc' suggestion that you don't watch the ITNW Tokyo Dome Ballad version, because you need more context and experience of them to properly appreciate it...but the "Acapella version ( live) would suit you pretty well in this regard. I'd also suggest: Time Machine ua-cam.com/video/A-vbHPCXjxo/v-deo.html @ezteco suggested All My Love is For You"...that's gorgeous too ua-cam.com/video/kKAnYWNnYW8/v-deo.html 'The Boys' ...because although it does have a few vocal effects, it's really just them singing over a percussion soundtrack. ua-cam.com/video/6pA_Tou-DPI/v-deo.html
SNSD are legendary. They will always be the national girl group. They started the makeup of a girl group. With a center, main vocal, main dancer, etc. Into the New World is the greatest debut ever. Its too iconic. Still one of my favorite songs. I also love girls generation. The rock feels it gives. I still want those sweaters lol.
GG harmony sounds so damn good really, even the members admit it them self. That song "Girls' Generation" original singer is Lee seung chul, I dont know the exact story about this but they sure have a good relationship cuz lee seung chul released a single featuring taeyeon on 2020 for his 35th anniversary as a singer, the song's called "My Love". There are times when I watch their MV and I thought I'm so lucky to be born to witness their era☺
I love these two songs so much. The meaning of these two songs are about Girls' Power. Especially in Girls' Generation lyrics, "Don't make fun of me because I'm young" Their japanese songs are good too. You can check that out.
Their debut song 'Into the new world' has been used during civil rights, women’s rights and during any kind of protest in South Korea! This is also become an LGBT anthem and is played at Seoul Pride. You should definitely check out the 'Into The New World Ballad Version', it’s super beautiful.
Not just that...but it was sung during Thailand civil protests too, and in the Women's March in the US (when Trump was elected)...so it is an international protest anthem, not 'just' Korean.
I think what you’re referring to INTO THE NEW WORLD being nostalgic despite it not being a part of your childhood is it kinda give an anime OST vibe. and anime as it is, or even anything cartoon at all, is part of everyone’s childhood.
The song "Girl's Generation" is an overlooked gem and is a cover of a hit song sung by a dude. The lyric which translates to "don't tease me because I'm young" became a bit of a meme among older MC's and gag men at the time SNSD promoted it as their 2nd single. Seohyun is an excellent pianist but Sooyoung took some quick lessons from the drummer of SM's rock band TRAX for the MV. Everyone else is faking the guitars, rather badly, but do we care? The last part of the video was filmed outdoors at Incheon airport and they were freezing. The amazing thing to me was all of the first album was "in the can" before they debuted when most of the girls were still only 17! Amazing! I also love the "doll dance" over the instrumental parts of the song. They even performed the song with the original singer!
Next react to Girls Generation - Kissing You - Baby Baby (the MV are clips from their behind the scenes from MV shooting and fan events, but the song is cute) - Gee (another iconic song from them) - Way to Go (the MV is like Baby Baby but they actually lip-syncing the song while showing behind the scenes on Gee MV) Japanese songs from Girls Generation are also bangers - Paparazzi (my personal favorite) - Flower Power - Mr. Taxi - DIvine (this one is not uploaded in their official channel because its only available on THE BEST Album - New Edition, not sure if you can react to it. There is a channel uploaded the MV though.)
Thank you for reacting to SNSD! Been seeing some ppl recommending Oh and I’d like to suggest watching their Run Devil Run mv alongside that one since those 2 are connected and RDR is the first time you see them doing a more “edgy” concept. Before 2010, SNSD only did the “girl-next-door” and “cutesy” concepts. This era is interesting in how it helped ppl warm up to SNSD doing more than those concepts. I also agree to hold off on reacting to their “Tokyo Dome Into the New World Ballad” until you’ve become more familiar with them. It’s a very emotional moment for SNSD and it’s definitely one of those performances where knowing the group and context makes the experience so much better.
Okay, am I the only one who started crying half way through ITNW while singing along?

So iconic that it makes me emotional listening to it even though the song is older than me by 1-2 years 😭

I think they've changed the intro music too before the song starts, but I could be wrong.
@@toyland12 they have for both ITNW and Gee, which is a bit of a bummer
Wow!!! Didn't know that

These two tracks were their debut releases. Not especially successful at the time but have become iconic since.
The Nation's Girl Group of South Korea is back this August!!!
Please do more reaction to GG@SNSD as well as their live performances.

I miss them ♡♡

Girls' Generation defined GG !!!
'Girls' Generation', the song, as a remake, is usually what SM does with a group's second song. (ie. aespa's 'Forever').
I think what you’re referring to INTO THE NEW WORLD being nostalgic despite it not being a part of your childhood is it kinda give an anime OST vibe. and anime as it is, or even anything cartoon at all, is part of everyone’s childhood.
Thank you for reaction to snsd. Hope you continue reacting to more of their songs!
