  • Have a go at this fingerpicking classic, written by Jerry Reed and first recorded by Chet Atkins. This is a fun tune for everyone: a perfect stepping stone for the beginning fingerpicker, and a nice change of pace for who has been working on really difficult songs!
    Part 1 of the lessons cover the first 8 bars of the verse!

    Really well explained, thanks for the lesson. But the picking has to be really precise to sound nice. So it takes a while even for people with travis picking experience. But it is really worth it and this video makes it possible!

      Thanks Oriol! I have a video coming up on "Wheels", another Chet classic. This tune is a bit easier than this one and will allow you to completely focus on the travis picking. Just keep your eye on the channel!

    Hi Tim! Awesome tutorial as always, thank you very much! Any chance we might see a tutorial on Tommy Emmanuel's guitar boogie?

      Yes, that is actually the next one on the list! But I notice that I'm always starting other songs instead... Probably because I have a bad feeling on what I'm getting myself into 😂

    Thank you so much Tim ur so good to do this for everyone and so clear and concise it’s Gona take me a while to nail this style with the thumb pick !! I play regular finger style but this is tricky but I’ll get it thanks Brian Ireland 🇮🇪 would u do the chords first then add the melody when practicing cheers

      @TimVanRoy  Рік тому +1

      Hi Brian!! I usually add the melody on top of the chords as quickly as possible, but it is a very good routine to memorize the chord sequence while going through the tune. This will help you remember the song over a longer period of time.

    Thanks for this expertly made tutorial! Could you please tell me the name of the song in the outro of this video? Played by yourself, I suppose...sounded great.

      I almost always end the lessons with a song I wrote ages ago called "Now You Know". I think I even have an early (and old) video of me playing the song on my channel. 15 years and as many kilograms ago 😉

    Hey Tim thanks for all your lessons
    Is there any chance you could do Tommy Emmanuel/ Slava Grigoryian "Pan Man"?
    Take care
