Guys this is one of my first times writing a script for a video. No this is not sponsored since it would be illegal for me not to disclose this to you. Yeah, I got a badass PC. Game runs great on it. There are my honest feelings about the game as a life long fan. This review was only after about 7 hours in the lesser zone. I will make another much more in-depth review after I have finished the game.
Thanks for the info, I was wondering exactly that. IMO it's always good to start a video clearly stating if you are sponsored, and more important, if you are allowed to say whatever you want about it, even if you think it's bad.
I built a Ryzen 9 12c/24t, 64GB DDR5, RTX4080 system last year about this time. I'm actually pretty excited to have a game that can finally push my system! I don't know about that. Every review is hitting on the same things, poor performance, bugs and crashes. Gameplay wise a lot of people aren't familiar with STALKER and it's not a game with mass/casual appeal.
Yeah... I've learned my lesson from listening to Klean when Dead Matter was asking for backers in the pre-alpha phase and Klean did a whole deep dive with them on stream. Look how that piece of garbage turned out. I'm sure the game itself is not bad, but if you're not listing the massive problems that everyone else is having, then this isn't a "review" worth listening to. I put that in quotes because the video doesn't say it's a review, but his command on twitch (!review) links directly to this video. A quick list from what I hear other people say about this game/what I've watched (update - and now experienced myself); -Bad frame rate, high spec requirements (4090/14900k lmao) -Decent human enemy AI, bad mutant AI/variety -Stealth and line of sight detection is broken atm -Bugs galore (T-posing, ragdolling, unclear markers, random popups/pop-ins) -Great atmosphere, but boring story/NPCs/MC -Broken lighting Take it as you will. Modders are currently doing their best to fix some of this, but they'll need some time. If you're a Gamepass user, rejoice. If not, I'd suggest waiting for a sale, or buying it outright to support the devs. I'm sure the game will make a turn like Cyberpunk 2077 did. I'm gonna go try it out myself and see what problems I run into with a 3080 and 12900k. Edit update: I've tried it for myself and it's not great. The intro ran okay, but I did notice that my game would crash without using FSR, and, at times, had a very noticeable input delay. Going into a building in the first town destroys my framerate. The lighting at sunset is absolutely horrible, throwing random beams of light at walls whenever you see them. I hope the devs fix a lot of this soon, as I've heard they're actively listening and responding to our complaints.
"-Decent human enemy AI, bad mutant AI/variety" - if we are talking about combat AI, in general it's just pupets empty pupets. You can watch them for hours and they will just "follow the path" and then "backwards" and then again. They are purposeless. They don't steal artifacts from you, they don't do anything.
So because he doesn't agree with the "others" he is wrong? Scary how people can think like this these days and feel confident that THEY are the ones in the right?
@@Jomega1212 No. It's because he has a history of being hard-headed and biased. When you review something, you shouldn't glaze it and ignore the problems. Besides, my list isn't something to agree on. It's just facts which, after playing a few hours, I have experienced for myself. He did not confirm nor deny those in this video, but he did experience them on his livestream.
@@SamasakiXBL As someone with no skin in the game, and coming at it from a point of view separate from any content creator, I have nearly identically performing specs as what you listed, and my game runs surprisingly well for how high I have the graphics, and with how stunning the game looks. I am just shy of ten hours in, and have had two or maybe three crashes at most, and cannot recall a single bug I have encountered. That doesn't necessarily mean I haven't seen any, it is a newly released game, I almost certainly have. None have been even worth remembering, however, let alone game-breaking. I do agree that the mutant AI isn't amazing, and the characters/story is meh, but I feel Stalker has always had more of an emphasis on atmosphere to begin with. If I had stayed in the Reddit and Steam-review cesspools, I would definitely have closer to the outlook you have, but at the same time, my ten hours of hands-on experience has genuinely impressed me, and has yet to align with a lot of the negative reviews. So, if that has been your genuine experience with the game, I am sorry to hear that. But I also have a hard time believing the things most people say on the internet, especially when personal experience has shown me otherwise.
Optimisation is terrible, dont believe this video, recommended settings wont give you playable result even at 1080p. Klean play at 4080 or 4090, hard to except that game will run bad, but if you dont have top rig or play in amd gpu forget about stable performance.
I get 90-120 fps with no stutters on a 3080ti and a 9900k its really not that bad, the biggest problem with how the game feels is the mouse smoothing and you can just copy paste a line of code from online in the files to fix it.
I’m averaging about 120fps. I have a i9 4060ti. Some stuttering, very minor glitches but overall, it’s run pretty well for me. I’m sure some of the jank will get hashed out thru patches. I only have about 6 hrs in the game cuz work and life but, I would give it a 8/10 atm. Fucking can’t wait to dive more in. It’s fucking glorious
@ I have everything on high. I am not sure why I am in the minority here w my experience and I feel bad for others not having a good experience. But have no fear homie, these things will get hashed out w patches that are bound to come from the dev team and modders.
I have been playing through GAMMA again to get ready for this. It looks incredible! I don't care about bugs, those can be addressed. The gameplay and map are the most important ascpects imo and those look great! I will be on this asap tonight
@@victorvictor4766 Yeap it way worse. Like way-way-way-way-way-worse. Compare to first games(three games)... well it is a little bit worse. No "A-Life", but graphics are kinda good. And as soon as "A-life" is dead. It isn't stalker anymore, i hate "cops from cyberpunk" in games where i should immerse into the world. At the end it is just another sized-up "metro exodus" game.
I get 140+ fps in some areas with a 4080S and 7800x3D, but the frametimes just aren't great in dense areas, so I locked my game to 60fps and now its smooth. I'm surprised how much better the 4090 is with this game for you.
Its good so far for me. Already had to make some "tough" morale choices. At the end of the day, the game is hard for your average gamer, and they will make any excuse to protect their elite gaming ego and point to "problems" because they are trash. Not saying that's everyone, but i see it a lot. Compared to playing GAMMA on the hardest difficulty, this is easy. Except the mutants are bullet sponges.
the game is CPU bottlenecked, you can look at the performance charts, it has nothing to do with the 4090, a 4070 will net similar performance aslong as you have a good CPU. A-life is CPU heavy, much like OG stalkers.
@@BasegFarmer Sort of, it's just very, very poor optimization at the end of the day though. Performance should not be this bad with top of the line hardware, there is no excuse, there is nothing this game is doing that is pushing the technical limitations of hardware.
I don't know how the flashlight was in the previous game but in this one, unless it's pitch black, i never turn the flashlight on(especially outside) bcs it feels like it's actually blinding me rather than helping me see.
So another reviewer, skillup, said that with dlss/frame gen, and like the strongest possible hardware available for consumers, you get an inconsistent 100-120 fps. And you say the optimization is good?
Different reviewers will have different experiences. That being said, Skillup said he played 24 hours of the game, which means he was playing before day 1 patches started coming out. Now, this guy also had early access, so if they were both on PC best explanation I can think of is that this is another example of the PC optimization curse: too many possible configurations to make it work right on everything at launch.
@@Particle_Ghostdumb ass take. Top of the line hardware with frame gen and dlss still having issues. That’s not a us problem. The game is unoptimized no matter how or why objectively that’s bad. Get kleans balls out of your mouth you fucking moron.
@@mxj3287 skillup also said he couldn't get the game to run at all on his first PC and had to run it on a second PC. So the experience will be different for everyone due to bugs and crashes.
So every review says this game is an unfinished buggy mess and you think it's totally fine? How come? You're telling me there are no technical problems? 90% of gamers will not be able to play this game smoothly.
Remember that every review is made by a person, and if you watch few reviews , what is that compared to milions of others people? If people wouldnt blindly follow reviews gaming would be so much better
I saw majorly polarizing comments and reviews on both Reddit and Steam, but the few videos I have seen from people I somewhat trust have been singing it's praises, and from my own personal view, with a top of the line computer as of four or five years ago, if not more, that is now still holding up but not anything like it used to, the game runs pretty well for how amazing it looks. I am running at a playable frame rate with mainly high/max settings. Medium settings feel very slightly better, but even from someone who can NOT stand to play a game with low framerate, the dip in graphics from high to medium is not worth the gain in FPS. It still looks good, but if you can run it on high, which again, I can with a pretty dated system, its worth it.
Even at the end of your video the dialogue could have have gone a different way, had you looted his buddy before talking with him you would have found his pda which had orders to murder his friend behind his back.
Man, Klean, it's really disappointing to hear that you had no real criticisms of the game when we all know damn well there are issues that need to be addressed.
"It's really optimized if you play on a 5000 dollar pc" UA-camrs really pushing the envelope for brain rot. I have a 4070 ti and a 13900k with 32gb of ram, the game barely pushes 60fps at 1440p with dlss. The game is cooked, stop the cope and stop fanboying. It makes you look disingenuous.
Don't usually comment on videos but just have to say the review feels and looks very professional and well done! Thanks for doing it! Hope you do more like it!
I only played GAMMA. I had an idea of what was different in GAMMA though. Yes there is things I miss, but the biggest thing for me in stalker is the atmosphere, and the gun fights. Stalker 2 does that fantastic. Framerate is mostly good. I have a good gpu and ram but cpu is lacking. My own fault. The mods are just going to be a cherry on top. Mostly looking forward to tons of guns and attachments. I was EXTREMELY SPOILED from GAMMA. I am no less grateful for stalker 2 though. Good luck in the zone all.
A-life is dead. This is absolutely the biggest lost. Like this is 50% of the game's atmosphere itself. What kind of atmosphere you are talking about? Graphics - sure it's nice if you have 5k$+ pc for good framerate(60+). I mean 30+ fps will be good as well, but at low graphics, as i saw few games in unreal engine, this game's atmosphere, if i understand you correctly, will be ruined COMPLETELY. From personal experience i played Chornobylite game and i did it on my old PC with low settings. Was okayish, but kinda wierd graphics with 25-35 fps. Didn't watch anything about this game at all. Later saw some streamer playing it on high graphics with 60+ fps. I was shocked how good this game. And you know what game was made on Unreal Engine as well(v4 if i am correct. Stalker 2 - v5). Streamer played it the different way i did(guns only) so until he pull out the detector i didn't even understand that this was THAT game i played already(didn't acomplish it tho, because of perfomance issues and story stupidity). If stalker 2 is the same, then at low settings "your atmosphere" will be killed, eaten, put into s**t, then eaten once again and then burned to the ashes.
Time to upgrade, but not for this game ONLY, or else you dumb as that review. Because upgrade worth a lot of money and spend it only for this game will not be a smart move.
I am confused. I am hearing 180 degree opinions on the AI... Some are saying that there is zero of the "npcs live their own lives" and that they just spawn AI in based on triggers. Then there's you at 3:46 ...
Idk how anyone can call this game ugly. It's a great balance of visuals and system parity imo. The moment with the bubbling anomaly over the water pulling the trees in and out, during regular open world gameplay? That is crazy attention to detail.
Oh! Welcome to the stalker game, friend who don't play original games and after that didn't try out "Anomaly" and "Gamma" mod packs. I guess you will not be able to understand this anyway. You will never understand how cool it can be stand at some tower for 5 real hours and see how bandints goes from other location to yours, just to kill some mutants and still artifacts that you will be able to take. You will never understand how cool will be wait until some bandits will take artifacts from anomalies in safest way, just to be killed by you, so you can steal it from them. You will never understand how cool it to get artifact, you have been looking for a quest for a long time since it just very rare from those bandits. And how this is cool when you clear location, have some time to get rest and loot them and don't get "cyberpunked" with "cops" because it takes time for "A-Life" to get new NPCs (mutants as well) to you since they hear some shots. And if you do, then why in this whole f***ing life you call this game beautiful. In terms of graphics, maybe. But this graphics without gameplay is just a shell. Which after first playthrouth will go away forever and game become ugly. Or probably you are one of those s*** eaters who play in game for visuals only. Then i can't complain about your comment.
Can I ask what you have set for your Contrast, brightness and gamma set to. Number wise. For the non-HDR preset . I have an HDR monitor, but in HDR settings it didn’t really give me any sort of picture to adjust the white, black and brightness.

I will wait for a deep deep sale before I touch this mess. This seems the exact opposite of every other review I have seen so far. It also sounds very weirdly scripted by someone other than Klean, perhaps the devs wrote this review, or at least parts of it? My jaw literally dropped when he said the best looking game he's ever.
It's a good looking game in a newly optimized engine, and games boundaries are being pushed all the time. I don't think it's a far fetched statement. We're all gonna be saying this playing GTA6 *inhales copium*
yeah ok ill listen to this genius. the guy who insists Anomaly MOD is not a mod of the stalker series, its its own game. guys is high on something i never want to try. what about A life being non existent? everyone else lying about that? how did gsc get you to do this?
Lmao, get shot 10 times, push button, health back in 1 sec. COD health regen is more challenging. Plus wtf is the gun audio, the single fire from the AK is literally a different sound from burst/full auto
Has DLSS frame gen gotten any better? I played with it back when 3.3 came out, and I hated it. If I'm doing 4k native, I'd much rather just get 60fps than do 120fps with every other frame smearing and artifacting and turning text and reticles to a jumbled nightmare. I'd assumed it was a gimmick that no one would actually use?
At first when I turned it on, I noticed my mouse cursor felt weird but the fps increase was drastic, so I figured I would try it out in some gunfights. Was dumping on enemies. so for me at least it works great. FSR.
On a more critical note, I gotta say that I FUCKING HATE the new headshot "crunch" sound. I don't know why the fuck people feel the need to put stuff like this in, as it sounds like absolute shit, it makes no sense, it gets old IMMEDIATELY, and adds absolutely nothing to the game. That, and I'm not a huge fan of the way the new soundtrack sounds. Like most modern revivals, it's just a super watered down and unremarkable version of the old music, minus anything that actually made the original hold its atmosphere.
Are you actually getting decent frames and the game looks nice with your rig? Asking becuase i have a i5 13600k and also a Rtx 3060 (non Ti version though). U think ill get decent frames?
Hard to say everyone is getting vary different results. I would day decent. Not amazing. I have an old i7 7700k 48gb ram and a AMD graphics card thr 16gb one and I dont have framerate on but I can tell it's generally 60-80 as well. Drops to 30 in the big towns though.
@@imdiffferent5578 Game looks good for me, hard to compare because I am not familiar with UE5 too much, I was able to get even more FPS (90-120) with DLSS+AMD frame generation but it adds input lag a bit. Bro "the gfx are the best ive ever seen in my life" ok have to call BS at your low standards, the game looks like 8 year old Metro or modded Skyrim. The textures are literally a mix of low and high quality...PLESAE KEEP IT REAL
This is a bit disingenuous brother. The specs you're running, the average gamer doesn't have access to. I'm fortunate (and old, 34) to have a PC ~$6k, 4090 gigabyte, 7950x3d, 64 gig of ram, x670e-e mobo, g8 monitor. But that's literally my dream PC that I built. That is a 1%'er PC (same as yours). The average, or just call it what it is, normal gamer, won't be able to functionally run this game as is without a high end rig. I'm hyped to play, because, sure i can run it, but for it to be something tangible for the remaining 90-95% of gamers, the optimization needs to be prioritized for more cost-effective rigs. I know you mentioned this was you first attempt at a script, but you come off infinitely more genuine when you review things organically. Just my 0.02. Enjoy the zone, man!
Without the Day0 patch this is definitely worse than the situation in 2007. I remember running the original game on my gaming laptop, which while expensive, was hardly top of the line cutting edge tech back then. I don't think my well out of date i7700k and 1080ti can run this game, at all. That's funny but also worrying that they tried to pack this much shit into a STALKER game that most of its' fans won't be able to touch it. People simply don't have the 4090's and equivalent CPU's, they make up such a tiny percentage of users. Planned to upgrade already, at some point in 2025 but the devs need to focus on optimization right now. At 5.3ghz that old i7700k/1080ti should be able to run this game at a playable state.
I don't know, man. I had an 8700K in my previous build, paired with a 3080 it didn't seem to be CPU bound at all. I think CPUs are way ahead of the curve in general, 6c/12t with DDR4 would usually sit at 40% usage when the card was being pushed into the 90s. With the new Ryzen9 and DDR5 I'm looking at sub-10% CPU usage with everything cranked to max in RoboCop... I think if you moved to a 4070 ($500?) on your existing system you'd probably be fine.
@@TheWarmotor Yeah, the reason I haven't decided to upgrade through all of this is because there's scarcely anything new worth playing. Vast majority of my gaming time is older games, trying out newer games but they haven't been great. I'm eyeing the 5090 and already decided on pulling the trigger on the 9800x3d. Going from the 1080ti to the 3-series wasn't really worth the money for the performance boost. A lot of the newer stuff was heavily single threaded too so the old i7700k OC'd to 5.3ghz/delidded was able to get through it.
@@mgs85 I feel you on that, since my last upgrade there wasn't much out there to take advantage of it. I think I am going to skip the 50 series for now, nVidia knows they'll be the only show in town at that performance level and paying literally twice as much as I did for the 4080 doesn't sound appealing.
@@TheWarmotor I hadn't heard that the 5090 would be price higher than the 4090. I had heard it'd be similarly priced, but yeah, I'll keep my ear to the ground but I am definitely not paying $3-4k for a video card... haha
@@mgs85 nVidia is saying the 5090 will be upwards of $2500. I had to buy my 3080 from a scalper and was lucky enough to get an OEM lottery day one for my 4080, I think nVidia just wants that scarcity money for themselves.

I get 90-120 fps with no stutters on a 3080ti and a 9900k its really not that bad, the biggest problem with how the game feels is the mouse smoothing and you can just copy paste a line of code from online in the files to fix it.
nice to see that even pros jugg a beer instead of healing mid fight.
I’m averaging about 120fps. I have a i9 4060ti.
Some stuttering, very minor glitches but overall, it’s run pretty well for me. I’m sure some of the jank will get hashed out thru patches.

I have been playing through GAMMA again to get ready for this. It looks incredible! I don't care about bugs, those can be addressed. The gameplay and map are the most important ascpects imo and those look great! I will be on this asap tonight
You should have been playing original games instead to really feel the difference. Stalker 2 is nothing like Gamma.
@@ChukiTheErmine Lemme guess, you've only seen clips. The game feels and plays like stalker.
I get 140+ fps in some areas with a 4080S and 7800x3D, but the frametimes just aren't great in dense areas, so I locked my game to 60fps and now its smooth. I'm surprised how much better the 4090 is with this game for you.
Everyone else's saying the storyline blows hard
Its good so far for me. Already had to make some "tough" morale choices. At the end of the day, the game is hard for your average gamer, and they will make any excuse to protect their elite gaming ego and point to "problems" because they are trash. Not saying that's everyone, but i see it a lot. Compared to playing GAMMA on the hardest difficulty, this is easy. Except the mutants are bullet sponges.
yeah, i'll wait 6 months for patches and the price to drop. Looks good tho
Been playing today, absolutely amazing
1440p and Frame Gen with a 4090 and the frame rate is in the lower 100s………..
the game is CPU bottlenecked, you can look at the performance charts, it has nothing to do with the 4090, a 4070 will net similar performance aslong as you have a good CPU.
I'm sure it'll run better on AMD x3d CPUs. All that cache really helps with unoptimized games.
100s nice
@@BasegFarmer potato optimization. not much else. if your cpu isnt bottleneckd in other games then there isnt really much of neck.

do you have dlss and frame gen on? and whats your res?
Turn frame gen on for sure. Update drivers. Tweak your settings, some graphic options are more CPU heavy while others are GPU.
My only gripe is the flashlight. First STALKER had a flashlight to be appreciated.
You don't need 100 fps so who cares, 60 is fine. The problem isn't the game, the problem is you.
@@Particle_Ghostdumb ass take. Top of the line hardware with frame gen and dlss still having issues. That’s not a us problem. The game is unoptimized no matter how or why objectively that’s bad. Get kleans balls out of your mouth you fucking moron.

The headshot hit markers sound so gooood
Even at the end of your video the dialogue could have have gone a different way, had you looted his buddy before talking with him you would have found his pda which had orders to murder his friend behind his back.

Running a laptop with a 1560, and on all low settings ran at like 30 fps. Time for a upgrade i guess
Time to upgrade, but not for this game ONLY, or else you dumb as that review. Because upgrade worth a lot of money and spend it only for this game will not be a smart move.
So many cry babies in here
I am confused.

Frame gen is a bad technology from a comceptual standpoint. Ai cant respond to your inputs

No A life 2.0 the core feature that makes stalker a stalker game loads of bugs optimization is shite

It’s a bit crap and looks like an XBOX 360 game,, what a shame
My nephew is just now upgrading from his old 980ti, at 1080p it's generally still holding its own at high detail settings. Then you've got the 20/30 series that support RT but upscaling is spotty...
