In Viv's version of heaven, being gay is not a sin. For example: Angel Dust is not in hell because he's gay, he's in hell because of his mafia related crimes. He was a bad person. If he was *just* gay, he would have gotten into heaven alongside his sister.
if you slow it way down, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment when lucifer meets vaggie where he looks above her like “what where’s your halo??” and he looks a little sad about it
Just putting this out there....... Jeremy Jordan. He is in things. Wonderful things. Does (the best) songs in the Tangled series. Is in a musical with Anna Kendrick. Is Light in the Death Note musical. You should experience these things. 🥰
So, you mentioned the drums represent hell: I Disagree. Percussion in this show often comes in to announce conflict. Yes, in this song they start when Charlie starts singing, but in Hell is Forever is the opposite: There is no percussion until Adam interrupts Charlie. In both cases the common element is that someone is confronting the previous singer: In "Hell is Forever" Adam interrupts Charlie to say that her dremas won't come true and in fact they will kill even more of her people. In "You didn't know" conflict begins when Sera says that even if Angel Dust filled all the rules she imposed, that's still not enough and Charlie answers that "It's not fair" and that's exactly when percussion comes in. Before that Emily is making a plea and Sera is trying to explain herself, but neither confronts the other or gives just a clear "No". That comes in with Charlie and so do the Drumms. You can also notice this in other parts of the song: Yes, Charlie calls in the drums, but it is still restrained and civil. When Lute comes in with all the swears and insults, though, not only does the electric guitar gets to shine, but the drums get to go really wild as the conflict escalates. Same happens when Emily and Charlie start their "J'accuse" moment against all of heaven. At that point even those two get to go as hogwild as Adam once did an replay Hell is Forever in their own version. So, yeah, I believe in many points of the show they use percussion to represent the beggining or intensification of a conflit...
I know you mostly focus on music when it comes on but I just wanted to point out something that I loved the tiny detail they put there. So a little before Sera looks into the fire globe to where her eyes are shown with the reflection of fire, well Emily looked into the same type of globe and her eyes didn’t show that reflection, instead they showed a heavenly glow still, I think that it shows how different Emily and sera are in this song and in their mindset.
With the "Being gay is seen as a sin" that's how most people interpret the bible, and a LOT of things "the bible says" has to be interpreted, because it is a 2000 year old book, which means not only was language, spoken and written, different, but so were cultures and what would be acceptable, AND how people would see things like Gayness A Popular example for how language and culture changes over time, Gay was once a word that used to mean Happy, but has now become exclusively about Homosexual men I once read something on tumblr, a very detailed and in depth dissection and translation of a part in the bible, which in Modern Times is "A man Shall not Lie with Another Man, as he does with a Woman" or something like that You can definitely see that as "don't be gay" but the post mentioned that the way the original Hebrew Script was written, it could also very much mean that you should not sleep with a man in your wife's bed, because that was like, her ONLY space that was truly hers At least that's what i remember from the post, it was very long but cited a lot of things But Vivzie definitely doesn't see it as a Sin, from what i see at least, and so i doubt Heaven does either
I know this is a month late but an important detail is that if you notice, no angel has ever lied in this show. Judging by Vaggie’s example, it is seemingly really hard and strenuous. So they either omit or avoid the truth. So think about how Sera said “In sorry you can’t stay”. I believe she was trying to make sure Emily didn’t sounds insensitive by saying “You’ll never wanna go back down.”
This episode holds such a special place in my heart. Here is where we see that people in heaven aren't evil or all corrupt, but they simply can't comprehend what it's like to be a sinner and live in hell. Also I appreciate the way you explain the sounds and concepts you talk about, because I can follow everything you talk about even though I don't know about music.
SO satisfying to see your reaction ^^ the "he blew his shot" like shocked me the first time too. and the shot with Charlie and emily on the globe? That was like.. that scene took my breath away. .... Of the first 6 episodes, i think that's one of my favorite shots. it's certainly the most powerful (though the flying scene in more than anything is breath taking to me.)
Yo you prolly wont respond, but im so fucking impressed by you being able to hear all of these tiny things in the music. Even after you bring it up and i go back i still cant pick out the things you pointed out but i still hear what you mean. Its an insane ability and you should be pretty proud dude
After seeing how much you loved Hell Is Forever I was super hyped to see what you thought about You Didn’t Know, rewatching this after seeing it on Patreon is great
10:13 Let's see, I'm not on Sera's side, but Charlie just showed that a soul CAN BE BETTER, He didn't show that he can redeem himself How Adam himself said "why isn't he here?" Redemption is not that those in heaven choose and can be redeemed, as when you die your soul automatically passes divine judgment and enters heaven, the soul must enter heaven on its own. And Charlie did not show evidence that a soul can be redeemed, he only showed that he can improve as a person, which should be proof to at least question and consider everything better, but it will be objective You are right, it is not conclusive proof that they can be redeemed

And also Vaggie is a lesbian when she fell it wasn’t because of her sexuality it was because she spared a sinner
if you slow it way down, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment when lucifer meets vaggie where he looks above her like “what where’s your halo??” and he looks a little sad about it
Did you see what looked like a female angel dust in welcome to heaven? That is his twin sister Molly
Wow, even the obscured for copyright mention is obscured for copyright!
Lmaoo
The reason Charlie doesn’t go in her demon form is because she’s trying to look less intimidating y’know how she usually is on the inside

Top tier analysis wow! Thank you for this 🔥

The absolute headbanging to Lute's and Adam's part... Yes, so much yes!!!
8:57 This part still goes SO HARD!

It could also be interpreted as meaning “A man shall not lie with a boy”, meaning it could just be saying pedophilia is a sin
I know this is a month late but an important detail is that if you notice, no angel has ever lied in this show. Judging by Vaggie’s example, it is seemingly really hard and strenuous.
