Racing at Talladega GP, in Munford Alabama has to be the best event I attend as far as results are concerned. My 2009 ZX6R was doing it's best and maybe the pilot could have helped out a little too, but the weather was not on my side! The folks at WERA Motorcycle Club Racing organization put on a great event!

I am so greatful we have this track in talladega/munford.i want to take my bike to barbers to free ride soon.
Barber is great, you won’t be disappointed
Great video!
Thank you sir can’t wait to get up with you at some point this year!
@Aaron Dearborn #773 Tally again In April?👀👀
@@Master_Yoshi only that Sunday just for the National rounds 🤓
Cool video, but when I think of Talladega I think of the 2.66 mile NASCAR track.
🤣 So did I the first time i heard the name
Good job dude 👍i never raced at this track i was to lazy to drive that far but everyone says i wasn't missing anything
Tally is good for intermediate pace riders. Past that, you really burn through tires and it makes riding there a bit cost prohibitive one the pace is higher.
Oh yeah! Great commentary on the race, very nicely done by the way.
Watching more experienced riders like yourself and listening to you talk
about the grip and how the tires "feel"..... I have so much more to learn. 🤦🏻♂
Thanks for the great content and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍

Randy, I appreciate the support and for your reasons listed is why I try to keep making this type of content. To help others get some stuff figured out while being entertaining in the process.
@@AAron_Rides Thank you for that! 😎👊
I was watching your videos before I started in this sport at the beginning of 2022. Your comments are down to Earth and occasionally funny (see what I did there). You have a few nice rain tips in this video. Being on track in the rain is something I haven't done yet, and frankly it sounds scary AF. Nelson Ledges in Ohio is my home track (North Central WERA region). Thanks for the effort that goes into these videos, and keep 'em coming, please.
Thank you sir I’m glad you’re finding them helpful and I’ll be sure to keep pushing my edits to be the best possible value for all.
What fork inserts are you rocking
Thanks for the interest! Those are GP Suspension 25mm carts.
@@AAron_Rides slowly parting my bike into a track bike for this season. Also your instagram link doesnt work but I'm on there with this username. Definitly want to have a chat about track stuff sometime,
@@KovertMecha ah good to hear! Shoot me a DM over there and I’ll do my best to help. Thanks for the info on the link.
Great video Aaron. Track was sketchy all day, but riding in the rain was fun. I was on the grey R6, Number #4.
Oh cool! Yeah I was kind of envious of you guys on Rains early in the day but as the track dried out later it seems like you could go at a much higher pace
I was there, as a matter of fact I was pitted across from you. We were the father/son team with older SV'S wearing rookie shirts. We've raced for years but took the class again as it had been a while.
Tally has always been one of my favorite tracks. Yes, it sucked that day. But I'm going to give them the benefit that they will fix it as the owner stated that morning. We plan on going back in April, but I will make that decision based on the weather. I will not go if there's a decent chance of rain. It just isn't fun. Good report and I hope to meet you next time.
rd400racer, but an SV guy now 😝 #115 and son is #135
Ah very good to hear from someone else who was there. If you see me, don’t be shy, even if I’m filming! Thanks for the comment
Just did my first track day this weekend at Roebling! It was sick! Keep up the great work and ride safe!🏍️💨💨
Thanks, you too!
Love the vids keep up recording in the paddock more interactions and showing more bikes !
Thanks! Will do! I'm going to Roebling for the WERA National opener and plan on getting some buttery shots of all the bikes ;)
what tires would you recommend for a damp day like this?
I was using the Pirelli SuperCorsa SC3’s, but basically what you need is a quick warmup rubber with grooves. The SuperCorsa’s have grooves but they don’t go all the way to the edge. I’d prefer something that had tread over 100% of the tire, like a Rosso or something.
@@AAron_Rides what about michelin road 6's or dunlop q5's?
@@hacktay21 those could work well. It really depends on your level and how comfortable you are with that tire(s)
Rode there on the Friday before this event. Been riding Tally for almost 10 years and is has always been good hot cold didn't matter. Track was sketchy and several of the WERA guys crashed during practice. I ride intermediate and was on pucker in turn 2 for the 1st time ever. This is the same corner I put my knee down the 1st time. What has changed? Even after several sessions to put rubber down the track still wasn't good.
Theres some sort of LineX or something on that corner. Put there for car drifting as I understand. Made it a little less grippy then before, but I hear the track owner put in A LOT of money to fix the issue created by the company who did the work.
weren't you an expert before? ya, maybe you shouldn't have gone down. Nice video and commentary. One of these I'll make it out that way to watch (my racing days are done)
I was an expert haha, yes maybe that wasn’t the right move…
Great job Aaron
Thank you Fernando
Question if you don't mind. What is your height and weight? You seem to be on the larger side like myself lol. Gives me hope.
Haha no worries, I’m 5’11”, 250lbs
Excellent vid! Yes, you need to go expert!! Gonna subscribe to the channel as I enjoyed your commentary. I Was last at tally for the Halloween weekend. They had just put that patch in. Sunday was misting and turn 2 was horrid. Think my first scheduled track day there for this year is in July. I pray they do something with 2, 5 and in and out of farm house. Those tar snakes are the pits!! Good luck out there and hope to see you track side!!
Thank you buddy, keep up the work on track! It’s a blast
Go expert!!!
✌🏻🥹
Haha I saw the video and went , hey that’s me setting the grid . 😂
Haha nice! Love it when fellow racers see the footage, I try to include as many people as possible
That weekend was a mixed bag for me. I actually enjoyed the rain races on Saturday. I followed you in the C SBK race and gave your camera a wave. In the Senior race I was doing a few 1:11's and felt good except for T2. Sunday in the dry didnt turn out so well as I posted on my channel. I've mentioned to you before that if you are not improving in Expert, than there's no shame being in Novice. Also, if you are crushing Novice every race, than that also takes some self-reflection to whether that is worthwhile.
Man my camera was off due to no space on the SD card :( rookie mistake...C SBK was a great race but I got black flagged for a grid mistake! Again rookie mistake...
Yeah I hear you on the Novice/Expert thing. I certainly didn't bump down just for the tin! Roebling will be a better test as to whether or not Novice is the right class for me. We'll see!
Don't be shy in the pits either! Make sure to stop me even if I'm filming. I'll work it in!
Yoi should be in the expert group...
😣👍🏻 darn…was hoping to keep learning in Novice for this year. You guys are going to get me bumped LOLOL
What dash are you running? I want to switch mine out to something more “all inclusive” as well.
That’s the i2M Lite, it’s not 100% the easiest to get setup on a non-CANBUS bike, but is totally worth the money
@@AAron_Rides Thanks a lot for the response. I am looking for something for my ‘13 R6 and the Starlane Corsa is what I have been debating on for a while.
@@johnbailey3813 go for it! Just see if you have a CANBUS communication cable. If not you’ll need to be aware of how to get important data points from the engine like: TPS
@@AAron_Rides 👍
@@AAron_Rides I meant the Starlane Davinci, but you get what I was trying to say and I am going to look at what it takes to install it. Thanks again and good luck this season in expert😉
What are your forks Bi-Tubo?
Ahhh they are not my good sir! Those are GP 25 cartridges in my stock 09-12 forks.
@@AAron_Rides I’m actually building Kawi 1000cc what forks what you recommend??
@@Final_Boss_Racing full forks or just carts?
@@AAron_Rides cartridges
@@Final_Boss_Racing so there’s several you can choose from like KTech Ohlins BiTubo etc, I use GP 25’s because they are American made and use Ohlins springs (easy to find). I can feel 1 click of dampening adjustment and they have built in fork cap extensions for a larger geometry adjustment window.
My least favorite track Great for your first track day in a 600 or smaller bike (in my opinion)
Oh for sure I’ve written everything from 300 to 1000 is there and I think a 600 is probably the best for everything all considered
@@AAron_Rides I remember Opie Caylor spinning the back tire half way around the track and the front wheel in the air on the rest of the track turning a .98 and I thought 💭 I’ll never be that fast here 🤦🏻♂️
@@scottanderson4175 hahaha yeah he’s insane
You gotta learn to ride.
I’ll do my best Sansei
