Honestly as a guy myself that constantly took photos with both of them XS and 8 (Not the X but the 8, still the same primary nonetheless). XS looks wayy better
I also disagreed about the iPhone XS, it brought a massive improvement in color balance, High Dynamic Range, & overall clarity to pictures taken with it compared to last gen iPhones.
It was only untill 2015 when they started bumping the megapixel count for the front facing camera. For example, Samsung went from 2mp on the s5 to 5mp on the s6, the iPhone 6 had a 1.2mp to 5mp on the 6s, or LG with LG g3, it had a 2mp front camera and it went to 8mp on the LG g4.

I have a little question here. I currently have the 12, and I really love taking photos with it. Surprisingly, the camera is only 12 MP! How does the iPhone manage to create such beautiful photos with a not very big sensor?
This perfectly explains why my two of friends prefered a selfie taken on my 1st gen iPhone SE (2017) and the rear camera of the SE over any photos taken on my OnePlus 8 Pro (which has significantly higher resolution on all lenses except the telephoto lens) because image processing and color is just as important or even more important than raw resolution!

Also, at 5:19 I feel like it was more important to mention about 12 mp front-facing camera that was big upgrade from 7mp that was used since iPhone 7 and the new front-facing camera was able to record 4k 60 fps and had same capabilities as rear-facing camera exceptions were night mode, deep fusion. I am iPhone 11 pro user and that front facing camera is underrated, it is a night and day difference between previous generation of iPhone, like if you compare iPhone x and iPhone xs front facing camera it looks almost identical, while iPhone xs and iPhone 11 pro huge difference. iPhone 12 pro now added night mode and deep fusion for front facing camera so you basically have same capabilities as rear facing camera and resolution is the same, but not sure if front facing camera has OIS and EIS. For example HTC 10 back in the days had OIS on front facing camera and it was good feature to have

I wanted to ask if you noticed you can’t zoom out to the ultra wide lens after taking a picture anymore. I skipped the XS and the 11 Pro but now I have the 12 pro max and the feature isn’t here I missed out I guess :/
Money and time. UA-camrs who have less than some 500k need to have a day time job as well as making videos. It takes a lot of time to make a video, record it and edit it, then post it. Also, apple explained for the most part just does commentary with image screen grabs, which are easier and faster to do.

When he talked about the iPhone X camera being largely the same, I think he meant compared to the iPhone 8 and 8 plus, and he just forgot he skipped showing them, I remember getting some descent improvements in the camera department out of those phones, but the x just had some tweaks but was largely the same
Not so much history as just a bunch of spec sheets, but still some what interesting... Would have been nice with some back stories from the engineers, maybe some insight into what principles layed the foundation to the camera. Maybe something about the software...
I have an iPhone and a DSLR. I do agree that phones have come a long way and the photos can be very good. However, once you zoom in or are in extreme conditions, the software just takes over so much and the quality becomes very weird. I think what phone companies should focus on is good and natural photos, rather than a bunch of weird features, which Apple has done better than others.
actually the iphone x did improve alot from the iphone 7 it got OIS on the telephoto lens and 4k 60fps video recording, plus the features u already mentioned. 4:26

What's preventing youtubers from having a consistent upload schedule, like Apple Explained?

We forgot to add how the HDR and post processing has been on the cameras. As the post processing and high HDR is amazing now.
