The song that made me fall in love with Amorphis back in the mid 90s. The haunting synth melody really gives it character. Still have the EP in my CD-collection.
Old school Amorphis, awesome! The Magic & Mayhem is sort of a cover of a finnish folk song and their interpretation of it is just pure gold. In the original album version (Tales from the thousands lakes, hence the name of the live tour) they added some really cool and heavy riffing on the song that they didn't play here. The album in it's entirety is really worth a listen.
Amorphis: Tales of the thousands lakes, Tiamat: Clouds, The Gathering: Always, Paradise Lost: Gothic, Pyogenesis: Ingis Creatio, Anathema: Serenades, My Dying Bride: As the flowers withers... Best doom Metal era!!! The 90's
I know Amorphis doesn't give you many likes.. but I love the fact that you still react to their stuff every now and then. They're my favorite band ever, ty!
peter v v excellent music taste and reactors also :) music like this give powers in winter time,i liked. thanx to great reaction and have great day there.
Trav i think you pronounce their name correctly because it has Ancient Greek or Latin origins (maybe the first and the second) . 3'10"-3'20" This growl is from the Preistoric Era and the singer does more and more ! Impressive !
I suggest react to Magic and Myhem album version (1994), its a kind of doom metal but totally ahead of its time... the use of keyboards and synthesizers without losing the essence of metal was a what?! for me back then... they really innovated... I must recognize there're some bad tries of that in the next album.. but magic and myhem is a really great song..

I’m new to Amorphis, so I’m sorry for the silly question. What type of mic is the lead singer using? Is that what gives him the growling sound or is that him doing that himself?
This was the first song I ever heard from Amorphis and still the best of their songs.
Mine too! It was also the very first metal song I ever heard.

This song is a Legendary Groundbreaking Masterpiece. One of the best metal songs ever.
That first part is finnish folk song Tein Minä Pillin Pajupuusta (I made a whistle out of willow wood) but they use it in magic and mayhem as well.
They played this in my first Amorphis concert 94 Lepakko Helsinki. And have played in my all 20ish Amorphis concerts. What a song

Microphones generaly do not give better sound to a person.
I hate Amorphis for switching songs right before the best part of Magic and Mayhem. :x
