    For a 4/8 guy you gotta be fast and enduring so I found what works is the off-season make half of your days sprint/top speed work and the other half long slow endurance. When cross season hits, double the mileage and go aerobic. After xc, refresh your speed with 1-2 weeks with the sprinters, then afterwards go full speed endurance with 1 long a week

      With tthis, you can't at least have a headstart with speed instead of rushing a ton of lactate

      @@VenxlationLactate is potent, both for and against progress. And the best Lactate is Race Lactate🔥

    Valerie Borzov the Russian sprinter who won gold in the Olympic 100m was spotted by Russian state coaches at age 14.
    He repeatedly did 100m sprint training but always had a long break between each repitition to avoid anaerobic lactate sprinting .
    The Russian Sports scientists recommended this form of training to achieve improved sprinting performance.

    I love this video. This is the only 400 video I've ever seen that talks about prioritizing speed and not "endurance"

      @@LeonEdwardsFitnessOfficial world record 800m time is 50 seconds per lap which is still pretty damn fast, so if your good at both, your coach would probably make you do both for team points.

    Yeah, basketball players make great 400m runners. not

    • @TrackHead03
      @TrackHead03  26 днів тому

      i get what you're saying but basketball players DO make good sprinters. With just a few lactate workouts they would make good 400m sprinters as well.
      But you NEED to be fast and explosive first before even thinking about being good at the 400. Speed and plyos are what's truly essential for all sprinters lactate workouts are just necessary supplements for the longer sprints. Hope this helps
