All the Legends of the 80's Reggae Music, What a Line up finishing with the Biggest Legend of all time Mr Dennis Emmanuel Brown , Take it away Sir " we Salute you.
This concert was 3 days after my brother passed away. I picked it up on VHS 6 months later. This video kept me company during my darkest days. It introduced me to Lucky Dube and Barrington Levy and for that I will forever be grateful 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Side note : Shinehead’s credibility went to 1000% after he went into the real crowd. #Respect #DisPoem
20 years looking for this concert to show it to mom because she used to play the videotape so many times when I was a child, and now we don't talk to each other, thanks anyways for uploading this. It brought some happy memories to me.
And Sadly, Sugar Minott, Drummie Zeb of Aswad, Alton Ellis, Mikey Dread, Bunny Rugs of Third World, The Original DJ U-Roy, and Robbie Shakespeare from Sly & Robbie.
Listen how that bass guitar from Lucky Dube is crying out like an elephant trumpet. The crowd was stunned by that vibrant fusion of Bantu melodies inside Reggae. What a performer
I was there and it was great. It's unfortunately the music of love and compassion "Reggae music " has come to an end in this medium. I look forward to Reggae sunsplash or some similar reggae festival to resume the legacy This was so much bigger than money and anyone artist, it is a voice from the wilderness of mankind. May all the artist who performed at this festival who are no longer with us finds warmth and compassion in the arms of the ancestor's.
Great memories, great moments. My first and last sunsplash. Im trying to find myself in the crowd Lol. The music has changed so much. My respect and gratitude to all the artists who have gone on to the land of the ancestors, Hotep.
yeah I was there with friends from Negril that I met two weeks after gilbert hurricane … they had a stand selling beer and food in Negril on the beach and at the sun splash and I have dance for tree days what a trip .. thank you Data Ruth & family to welcome me into your life , Shaggy you will be in my heart forever xxx
I love this video. Thanks for posting it. I love all the performances, especially the I Threes I bought all their solo albums back in the day Rita, Marcia, and Judy
I haven't seen this video before, so it was such a lovely find. But this makes me sad also, cause there's no Sunsplash anymore, no roots reggae, most great reggae legends are dead already. An era of my favorite music has ended. When Bunny Rugs died, that was the end of it. At least that's how I feel. So big thanks for posting videos like this MrAlistair4 !!

Lucky Dube being the ONLY reggae act to be invited back on stage for an encore. He was and will forever be the greatest reggae performer of all time.
He literally showed them how it should be done...from Africa their origin

Holy crap. I had no idea Dube played at Sunsplash
What a lineup. Gregory Isaacs, Third World, I. Threes, Maxi Priest, Luke Dube. I could do without the dance hall.
