Personally, I've written Nate Davis off as a slacker and it's unfortunate the Bears gave him the guaranteed money they did. Not the end of the world, but he milked his mothers passing through all of training camp last year and has been unreliable and even when he's in there, sub-par. I suspect when it comes to a contract year he'll actually try, just hope the Bears are not the ones who actually sign him. Saban as I recall didn't really do all that well in the NFL and even if he was a better coach than Eberflus his expertise is on the defensive side of the ball and he'd be just as reliant on his OC. I suspect this is going to continue through much of training camp and the early part of the season as far as Caleb goes. He's talented, but he's playing the game at a different level now and it's going to take time for him to adjust. Interceptions don't worry me to much in training camp, it's where he needs to learn and you don't want him gunshy about pulling that trigger. We are all going to need to be patient and re-evaluate him around game 4 and then the half-way point of the season. Hopefully it's a case of steady improvement.
I’ve said repeatedly that nothing matters until the pads come on. That said, it’s going to take a half of a season for Caleb to adjust to the speed of the game. Not only that the mean in leaning a new offense. The Bears forfeited any chance of the playoffs when they decided to go with a rookie. They made a conscious decision to ignore the progress of the rebuild.
I've never been a really big fan of Caleb Williams but I'm also acknowledging that he's a rookie and he's practicing everyday against one of the top defenses in the NFL but I understand that as a rookie and have an opportunity to practice against one of the greatest defenses in the NFL this year well hopefully make him better my real concern is Nate Davis, Boram and that offensive line I'm not sure are we done enough done enough as a team to solidify that offensive line it's not just Nate Davis I think we need to really get rid of but the rest of these guys aren't showing up neither
I'm not too nervous about the offense line, they going against a top 10 at least offense. Now if the false starts, and the direct line to CW, is still as a high by the 3rd preseason game, that's a problem for sure. And put some respect on our punter's name, heard he was putting it under the 5 yard line automatically.
