Who gives a Fuck about what is playing on the TV in the background. Sorry for cursing. Did not mean that in a hatful way. Just wanted to emphasize the music over visuals, because the song is so good. Thank you for the react @NaturalReactions. Keep trucking my Dude!
I feels ya! At the same time I’m sure there is usually a reason for the visuals as well. Its difficult to take it all in in just seconds in a video. I was actually just listening to this song the other day again though.
It doesn't really have to be "off the heels" of any particular event to resonate with the black community. Thats the strife, this stuff is relatable on any given day regardless of mass public outcry. He definitely said a lot if you listen to the lyrics, its a story about surrender (like you said most likely to a higher power) when the struggles of this life are too much. Its very reminiscent of the old Negro Spiritual songs that were born in slavery, thats why you're getting "religious/ hymnal" vibes. Also the chorus is a reference to an older Al Green song if im not mistaken

Leon Bridges is amazing and so underrated 🤧 his song "Bad Bad News" and "Coming Home" is really popular too! So iconic💕
When this song was put in Lucifer back in 2019 I instantly knew it was going in my playlist. He's a real talent.
Nice! I still need to watch Lucifer. Been meaning to.
