  • I'm so excited to share with you a track from my upcoming album, Egypt In Time. The pieces were composed as part of a project that reimagined the silent films of Egyptian film maker, Mohamed Bayoumi.
The particular film that inspired this piece was a news reel that documented the return of Saad Zaghloul from exile, who later become Egypt's first prime minister. The footage shows the return of Zaghloul to a cheering crowd, portraying a story full of hope and optimism. The composition itself is antithetical to the film where by the sounds of gun shots and sirens coupled with an intense and frustrated melody illustrating the current climate in many parts of the Middle East.

Interesting sensations are caused by combinations of sounds of temporary events and musical composition. As if the whole composition takes on the character of a panoramic action and a spatial, multi-layered sound, and the temporary episodes are accompanied by solo parts of different instruments. And all this is represented by Music, that's what its possibilities and power are.
