This is so true! It's great advice for life too. Compare yourself not to others, but to who you were yesterday.
    Great advice.

Thanks for your comment! It's hard to not compare ourselves to others, and hopefully we can focus on our own improvement

I need to learn some basic drawing skills because I'm learning stained glass with an eye towards a craft sales business so I have to be able to design my own patterns. I have always said that I can't draw but I *can* diagram. Your intro video looks promising for teaching me to make the leap between the two.

All of these great tools and the hand and face one, I remember doing in middle school, about 27 years ago! I of course forgot about these and really needed to hear this. I'm starting to draw again after not doing it but every great once in a while and of course never really being satisfied with what I try to draw or paint. It's like I shoot myself down before I even start and have some high expectations for myself lol. Art and English were my favorite classes and being dyslexic, they were the only ones that I didn't have to struggle so much. I like how you said not to compare ourselves to others and what we see others online do. I'm so grateful for you and others that share your time and teachings with us and that we can watch anytime we want to. Being a stay at home mom is great, but I feel like it's easy to almost kind of forget who you are or the things that once made us happy. Art is so important to me and I think everyone in some way or another. I'm so excited to have some actual lessons and good direction. Thank You! 😊👩‍🎨🎨🎨✏✏🖋🖌✒✒✏✏🌿🌿

I tried to read the Betty Edwards book. I was just not that interested in the back story of my brain. I got together with my sister & we did the lessons in a workbook she did instead, over a month and a half time period, meeting once a week. So much better. There is such a dramatic shift in your drawing when you get past the critic's voice in your head!
Your lessons look like they will take out all the extra that bogs us down & just propel us forward into progress!!
... oh and you tell us where we can go read the bog... if the spirit moves us.
Looking forward to more. Your vids are like the drawing source like James Gurney teaches watercolor. Can't wait to see where your illustration experience leads us. Thx.

Yes, the book is certainly a deep dive into the concepts-very thorough. The workbook is a great choice. Thanks for sharing!

That book is the artbook i read when i was a teen, it helped. Definitely should re read it now, 25 years later. Trying re learn drawing, pretty rusty and i been learning blender, krita, inkscape software for a few years but i notice im still not where i want to be, theres a struggle somewhere and i think its something your hitting on in your videos

I have just found your videos thank you so much for making them
I have just found out the bit that was holding me back.
It's the 5 skills you need to draw.
I was aware of contour and blind contour but this video has compounded what I need to be doing as well
I feel I can move forward now
You make things so easy to understand your quiet manner and presice information sinks in without straining the brain.
    I have really enjoyed watching.
    Best Wishes
    Lynda
