Since I saw it in your manga collection video, I bought it and read it. Beautiful release. On first hand, it's a quick read, but I'm sure I'll catch different things when I'll read it again. Hard to describe indeed. I'd say it also plays with storytelling and the medium itself with a constant existential flavor to it.. Yuichi Yokoyama came to my mind, though his style is different. I wonder why the author is so secretive and if that means something about how his work is received in China. Where's the Ryan Holmberg essay when you need one? :-) It's nice that in recent years D&Q explores Korean and now Chinese artists. Most of their releases are intriguing and singular. They are also releasing 'My Picture Diary' by Fujiwara Maki (Yoshiharu Tsuge's wife). Tsuge's next one will be 'Oba Electroplating Factory' (as part of the same series as 'Nejishiki' etc.). And another one by Yamada Murasaki (from the amazing 'Talk To My Back'): 'Second Hand Love'.
Here are some other places that have published Woshibai comics, some easier to get than others: TORRENT from Lagos Revue (out of print), FreakerUNLTD6 from DDOOGG, and First Wave from Paradise Systems. And then, Woshibai has a couple individual short comics published through Paradise Systems as well, Closet and Migraine. And they have another longer (in length) book, GAMES (not out of print, but a little harder to get), which I believe contains a different selection than 20 KM/H. I haven't looked through the English edition of 20 KM/H in detail too much yet, so I'm not 100% certain about how much they might overlap.
Just saying, I recently came across this channel after burning through the "Welcome Back, Alice" manga and wanting to find some opinions about it. The videos you produce are comfy and I'm enjoying getting lost in your content.
I cannot for the life of me understand why people like that horrible film, I found it extremely annoying by how a manupilatative woman of low charchter takes advantage of a spineless guy with no meaningful end to the story.
Wordless comics can be so endlessly intriguing. I also really enjoyed this volume :)
