John Williams, man. John Fucking Williams. When George Lucas was making Star Wars, nobody really understood it. The actors didn't get it, the studio didn't get it, Lucas' friends, great filmmakers in their own right didn't get it (apart from Spielberg). But John Williams got it. Oh boy did he get it. Oh I'm sure he was as confused as anyone as to what a Wookiee was but understood the essence of what Lucas was making and he didn't just give Star Wars its score, he gave Star Wars its soul.
So true. I'd go even as far as saying that largely, if it weren't for his music, Star Wars wouldn't have become what it is today.
Imagine if Lucas had gone in the 'pop music' direction a la 'Flash Gordon' featuring the music of 'Queen.' Yikes!
@@AbadyonYT You can really see how the classics always have great scores. That's because great classics are real art, not just something assembled to make money on a theater following a formula.
@@AbadyonYT I agree, and lots of people forget that in the 1970s, when this was made, grand, sweeping, orchestral scores were very much out of fashion in cinema. This movie, and the truly magnificent score Williams wrote for it, were largely responsible for reversing that trend.
Before your explanation and fine attention to detail, I didn’t understand; How difficult it must have been to create such a masterpiece that is. Very well said.
3:15 i think one of the most epic performances of the rebel alliance theme i ever had the honor to hear.
Williams music will be cherished long after yesterday's gangsta rap garbage is forgotten!!
I believe, without any doubt, that if the Star Wars films go out of fashion, or even if film itself becomes an outdated medium, John Williams's scores and suites from "Star Wars" will survive in the popular symphonic repertoire. Consider the way operas like "William Tell" are rarely staged today, let alone experimental hybrid works like "Candide," but their overtures and symphonic suites are indispensable.
We already use his stuff for the Olympics so I do think that could be a possibility.

"There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.

"Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through Passion I gain Strength.
Through Strength I gain Power.
Through Power I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
The Force shall free me."

in 100-200 years John Williams will be consider to be in the same room as Mozart or Beethoven in the eyes of people, that's a fact.
In my opinion he is a step further than those, mozart and beethoven composed music only, but John is both a music master, and a cinema genius, he knew how to perfectly convey emotions for movies, all these movies just wouldnt be the same without him, he knows more than anyone else how to put the characters emotions into music
@@robertosoares255 Really dumb comment. John Williams understands film theory, impressive. It really is. He's the best ever at composing music for film. Beethoven composed music as a deaf man and Mozart finished his entire legendary body of work before the age of 35. Also just as a side note both Beethoven and Mozart composed music for operas and plays, which were the movies of the time. We can go back and forth all day about who is more impressive but the bottom line is this...John Williams and the many other talented composers of the last couple centuries learned heavily from Beethoven and Mozart, not the other way around. That's what people who compare the past with the present and try to belittle historical figures don't understand. Those in the past didn't have centuries of hindsight and accumulated knowledge (not to mention advances in technology) to build on in order to master their craft. I mean, the violin as we know it hadn't even been around that long by the time Mozart was born.
@@JM-ji9kx i see, thanks for teaching me! I guess youre right

Just because this was composed for a movie about space sorcerers, it doesn't mean it should be seen as amateurish or, i don't know, lesser than what it actually is: a genuine masterpiece. People laugh when i listen to this, but compliment me when i listen to the "true classical music" ....

This is beautiful, someone has to end the star wars fan base
Das sind śo Momente, wo ich erkenne, dass Orchester-Musiker ein großartiger Beruf ist.
Actually a nice surprise for them to start with 'Battle of the Heroes'
The part as played when they celebrate the destruction of the Death Star, is beyond a doubt one of the most masterfully music pieces ever created. This parformance was amazing, and a great tribute to John Williams.
Ohh I would wish movies made today would have the level of music score, as a great score can elevate it to something truly special.
This and Duel of the fates where his greatest creations.
This made me cry a little.
They have the high ground. All of it.💯
So much credit given to the soloists and other players, 'he/she is a beast.' Do not forget that this orchestra would sound awful without the conductor. He is the real beast.
This sounds even better than the original.
This is a section of the end credit suite to Episode III.
Not the first song, the second one yes
What an honor to The Great John Williams him self, the conductor of this orchestra, the orchestra and us! You can tell the conductor was having the time of his life and putting all of his heart in to it! BRAVO!! THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ORCHESTRA!
This entire performance is mind blowing.
This composition is the very definition of modern classical music. It's epic, it's emotional, it's storytelling and all the way through awesome. A truly great performance by the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra. I tip my hat to you all and to John Williams for this masterpiece. Bravo
but I wonder what it would sound like without a lifetime of revered films and wonder
not only is the whole orchestra nailing it, but the brass section killed it and in particular the bass trombone dude was primo magnifico.
Speechless, the world is silent to hear Throne Room, thanks John Williams.
What kind of coward would do something that cold blood as disliking this fantastic video?! Someone who hides behind a mask.
