It’s not easy painting big murals under the heat. My respect to the artists. It’s interesting to see their unique artistic styles blending together seamlessly 👍🏼🖼️💜 the realism and abstract art complimented each other really well.
Yew Chong is talented and has his unique style. He paints directly from the paint cans without mixing or thinning the paints. I'm glad to have captured the process of the painting of this mural.
what a beautiful mural! it's interesting to feature the 2 artists painting the fishes while being attached to the safety harness and also the 2 young boys painting another fish at the bottom right of the building. my favourite part is a boy clinging onto the fishtail as it reminds me of me holding on my dog's tail every time I play with my dogs like rottweiler and german shepherd.
It was a tough job painting this mural, as workers and forklifts were constantly passing by the narrow passage underneath them. They also had to manouvre the boom lift to avoid the many lamposts and street signs standing between them and the walls. The 2 young boys at the bottom right represents themselves when they were kids! You were brave to hold onto the tail of your rottweiler.
Yew Chong is taking a break from Singapore and will be travelling the world with his paints and brushes, for the next 2 to 3 years. He will be painting in various countries. and I look forward to his adventures. Thanks for your comment.
He is Singapore’s living National Treasure. A humble and unassuming guy. He has been invited to paint murals in several countries such as Italy, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and others.
A mural painted by Yip Yew Chong and Tobyato in Singapore’s Clarke Quay, a former warehouse district, uses vibrant colors to depict the lives of people playing with fish under the sccrching sun. This work serves as a form of art that reflects the history and culture of the area, reminding visitors of the good old days. We think this video work stems from a long-standing relationship of trust between mural artist Yip Yew Chong and you, the video creator!✨☝️😊 Yosh and Iku
This is the largest mural, in terms of surface area, that Yew Chong has painted, and I am glad to have watched him and tobyato in action. This mural has brightened up the area and depicts the life in the past when Clarke Quay was bustling. This is the 2nd last mural that Yew Chong will be painting, for a long time as he will be concentrating on canvas painting and other art forms. The next and final painting is at Lau Pa Sat, which I did not cover. Yosh and Iku, thanks for your comment.
