I love playing the Bass Clarinet, almost as much as I love the Soprano or Contrabass Clarinet. I'm currently a high school student playing these, and I really love being in band with all my friend. What a great Clarinet world we live in, am I right Mozart?
This video is nothing like middle schooler playing flight of the bumblebee, or how to circular breath in 10 minutes. This video is an all new Clarinet video filled with so much Clarinet and fun.
bro who reads descriptions on shorts weirdo
#bassclarinet #clarinet #marchingband
this video is very old! Almost 6 months now. Actually broke my wrist and couldn't go through the marching season that year unfortunately :(
My part was really bad/boring; but I tried to make the most of it by overplaying everything haha. I think next year I'm going to try and write my own part that's more fun because clearly the writer does not see the value of the bass clarinet. I'll make them see it :D
I’m sorry you couldn’t go! That’s the worst! I’m playing Bari for marching band. I’m guessing that song was Enemy by Imagine Dragons? Most parts for the Bari are boring in concert band, but in jazz… it’s waaay better. But the thing about playing as a low reed instrument is that you always have awesome, powerful, and cool third part harmonies in the chord and the third part harmonies are what gives me chills! Good job Dude!
Haha yeah but you should see some of the licks the bass clarinet gets in orchestra! May be a bit spoiled with orchestra haha
@@bassclarinetbrian lol
During marching season my music is usually the tuba part but whenever woodwinds get melody I get it too. I wish composers would just put more value on low reeds.
I gotta know the song
It's either that or your director puts you on the tenor sax part 😭
Literally we should make bass clarinet notes for pep band
My band director just asked me if I could learn how to play Tenor Sax over the summer for marching band😂
Literally directors should just copy and paste the bari sax part and transpose it to Bb it's not that hard 😭
@@FumiTaki I mean even then the Bari sax part is sometimes tuba or written transposed tuba
@@reeedanny3557 my bd decided to let us march bass clarinet this year, so I transcribed our pep tunes for them, and thank god our show already has a part for them!
As a bass clarinetist... I couldn't agree more
Geez that low E was perfect
that was a d
@b3127R it's a low e
@@Themusiccomposer1639 no i have perfect pitch it was a d
@@b3127R which is concert pitch
@@b3127RBass clarinets are in the key of Bb. You're not wrong about it being a D, but that's in concert pitch. For bass clarinet, it's an E. Its writing is two steps higher than concert pitch.
being the only bass clarinetist in my school, the only things i hear are “you just want to be a saxophone” or “what kind of saxophone is that” or “i didn’t know they made mixed instruments?” LIKE ITS SO ANNOYING 😭😭😭
Same
It’s worse on alto clarinet. Not only to get music for but everyone’s like “that’s a neat looking saxophone bro!”
Hey same hear as a Bass Clarinet myself. It's mostly the annoying band kids mainly some in beginning band (or probably irritating trumpets).
I can’t agree more.
I play bass clarinet in a Japanese high school marching band, and I want to be a player like you.
Dude this plays much fuckin better than whatever my school band does 😭😭
As a bass clarinet who matches this is so true
The bass clarinet timbre is so important to me when it comes to marching band. There’s no complete low “brass” without it.
I miss being a b-flat clarinet.Got demoted to a bass clarinet and watch my pals play the main part and watch them how wheares I play the small mini parts for years.I miss the old days.
Edit:Almost fking cried when I saw my band play with those b flat clarinets having the time of their life and me being the ex 1st clarinet just seeing them with hate T-T
*cough cough* DEMOTED!? Nuh uh no disrespecting my instrument like that
Nah you got PROMOTED
I play bari sax and bass clarinet so I relate
Same I play bari and it’s just the boring rythem
Thank you bass clarinets and anyone who plays a low instrument
You make songs sound so much better
I'm marching bass clarinet this year for the first time and for two of our pep tunes, they have bo bass clairnet part so I'm having to do the baritone part 😭
Ikr and then you see the trumpets getting the super fun and complex pieces😒
Playing low gives you the background
Nobody will know you played and contributed
I march bass clarinet, thankful to get better parts than this haha! I’m planning on marching baritone sax next year so I can produce more sound
how's the bari sax going? also you can get quite loud on the bass clarinet (piercing through the band) you just need to practice it
LITERALLY WHAT MARCHING IS LIKE PLS we almost never get melody!! (I play B'Bass clarinet for marching and pep) 😭
I dont, play b. Clarinet but somehow i agree and i play flute piano clarinet
I play clarinet but love low notes so I was thinking of switching to bass clarinet but everyone always tells me that it’s really boring since you never get the melody
You can do both! Basically all clarinet players in college who play bass clarinet as their primary also know soprano.
When I switched to bass clarinet my freshman year it was pretty boring because all we got was whole notes but once I moved up in band the bard got increasingly more difficult. I even got a few solos last year. If you’re dedicated (which I’m sure you are), bass clarinet can be lots of fun!
I finally switched
I was literally just listening to imagine dragons enemy
That rip at the end was so good
I didn’t even realize they were playing enemy until my 50th time rewatching it😭
I love the colors of your instrument
As a percussionist in middle school I can agree that bass clarinets are very loud
they're not usually loud, these people are just forced to be loud since they're outside.
At least there IS a bass clarinet part! 😂
At least your BAND DIRECTOR didn't forget to PRINT THE BASS CLARINET PARTS BECAUSE HE FORGOT ABOUT US,. "US" of course only being 2 bass clarinets
I’ve never related to a video so much. I am the only bass clairnetist in my school band
Same💀
SAME LMAO- everyone says “bro u just want to be a saxophone” and it’s so annoying 😭
I’m one of two 😭
People be complaining but for reason i really like whole notes and half notes. They rub my brain with the way they relate to the melody. I have friends who play bass instruments and are thinking of quitting for this reason alone. I understand how it's boring but like my brain be tweeking or som
You captured the essence perfectly
absolutely ate up that last note
As a bass clarinet player myself, absolutely lovin’ that last note!!!
i recently switched from trombone to tuba (for marching this year) and i can say this is exactly how the tuba parts feel like half the time (we do get some cool stuff tho)
I play the bass clarinet and I’m joining marching band
Make sure you have a comfortable neck strap!
That E at the end there was PERFECT omg
*BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Wouldn’t know. I tried marching bass clarinet my senior year, but my director was like “Why? You can’t hear them on the field.”
To this day, nearly 10 years later, I still think I should’ve countered with “Yeah? Well you can’t hear the woodwinds when the brass is playing either, yet here we are.”
You should check out some bassoon marching band music!
ayo enemy marching band arrangement? cool!
I relate as a bassoonist 😭 our parts in most band music are always so boring. I like playing in orchestras better for precisely that reason
this is why i swtiched back to soprano after a year
The song brass in the basement is good for the low reeds. We get melody with the brass, and low reeds can be loud, considering I'm the only bass clarinet in my band 😂
yeah baritone saxes can go nuts on their volume, like FFFFFF kinda loud, but bass clarinets can also get extremely loud, like FFFF as shown here, other low reeds can go loud too, probably.
It so fun to play this along with the vid 😊
That low e was crisp 🔥😮💨
My band director gives me baritone or TRUMPET PARTS? idk why. I pray for the day I actually get a bass clarinet piece
Anyone else get Tenor Sax parts in your marching band?
Yep. Idk why the director couldn’t just command-c command-v the bari sax part and just transpose it to Bb lol
okay this year I got a good part, but i have to share it with the baritones but it is what it is i guess 💀
it reminds me of when i had to play heathens for honors band (i play contra)
In my band we get the trombone part
This is how I feel as a tuba player
We always just played the tenor sax part except for our closing sets lol
the misery
BAPPPPPP
I’m a B flat Clarinet player and I usually get basically the bass line of my section which means I’m basically part of the bass section for the song
There’s a song I have in my head that I made with a bari sax, alto sax, and bass clarinet solo
Accurate
As a Sousaphone, I agree to this also being like our parts
BRO OUR BASS CLARINET PARTS ARE FUN THIS YEAR
as a bass clarinet player who hasn’t even been playing for that long i wish it was like this for me in my band class 😞 my director gives us songs with the most complex parts for me because she thinks i’m way better than i actually am
So true tho I feel the same about my bass clarinet 😩
sure it looks boring but it sounds insane
I’m getting a bass clarinet for next years season and , GOOD
Ngl I don’t mind having whole notes the whole time. It gives me the opportunity to lead in shaping the music which is really fun!
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT WHAT R U SHAPING W WHOLE NOTES. THIS IS PURE BLAST FEST
@@bassclarinetbrian a lot of the time, tubas, bass clarinet, tenor/Barry sax, and drums are made to be heard as a base for the rest of the band, you aren’t supposed to be louder than them because they hold the song together a lot of the time. Without them the band sounds way less put together, besides I like having easy music Lmao
No hate
as a bass clarinet its either this or extreamly high parts especially in marching shows
probably playing soprano part replacement so its high as hell to show that idk
The tempo is liek 999 💀💀✋🏾✋🏾
My director wont even let us march bass
Oof
Bro I wish I had that because I'm my school they give the bass clarinets high notes like bro 🥲
Holly crap that blairy instrument (couldn't quite tell what it was)
this is why i'm playing clarinet for marching band and not bass clarinet.. my bass clarinet is for concert band, so i don't have too much to be jealous about 💀
I’ve never seen ffff before
Im a bumblebee who likes to eat my kfc
Or your director just has you play the tenor sax part
Everyone who counts time by bobbing their wrists ⬇️
oh the misery
You guys have bass clarinet in marching band?
Yo brian, you post your set-ups on all your other videos, but not here. Just curious what brand body you're playing as it looks similar to my Kessler & Sons. Love from WA!
I'm my marching band in part 2 base clarinet had the melody for a bit
2ND PART BASS CLARINET?? fucking unheard of
@@chesquikcheesemilk damn, that'd wild
Transposition is 2 semitones down???
Just play sousaphone 😎
You forgot about the 6 mesir rest
Wait how is the kid next to you playing with a mask on
he js like that ig
Wait I’m so lucky what. I get really hard stuff 😭
Did you march a low c bass clarinet!? If so do you have any tips for when i eventually get my own?
Dawg nobody gonna point out the dude next to him is playing with a mask on?????
Wait, Y’all have bass clarinetists? 💀
What’s the guy in the mask doing (ain’t no way that’s percussion bro’s breathing in)
Note b to note b slur 🙂
What song is this?
What song is this
What is this song called?
It’s based from imagine dragons. The song is Enemy
The only wrong thing is that how is bro playing with a mask on
Fr, tenor sax part sucks when playing it on bass, get ready for a thump cramp
People march those? Why? How? Since when?
What's this song?
L❤
Please dont tell me that is a low c that you march 🙏🙏🙏
what song is this
This is 'Enemy' by Imagine Dragons. Not sure who the arranger of this particular piece, larger or not, is.
As a bass clarinet player u could never play a part that boring 😭😭😭😭
Wait your marching with a bass
Fr tho
Is bro playing his clari with a mask on, why do people even still wear masks
It seems to me that he doesn't play correctly
Maybe just don’t try to be different when it comes to instruments. That’s the end result 😂
