"Who cares if it's a weed.". A girl after my own heart. I love Allison! Thank you for sharing your garden with us, Allison. We enjoy your garden tour every summer. ❤🌻🌻
"Every year is the best garden year yet". May the same be said by each of us and all of us, no matter where our gardens be. And why am I already visualizing the barn cats doing spectacular gymnastic moves while swinging from that catnip line?
Allison is so much more at ease on camera than she used to be :) And her garden is a joy every year. She didn't seem to mix and match flowers with vegetables all that much this time, when I seem to remember she liked to make vegetable beds look pretty previous years. Now there's a dedicated flower bed. I wonder why that is ?
Hahaha, because I had this idea of a “cutting garden” with so many flowers I couldn’t help but cut them. I failed 😂 couldn’t bring the scissors to them bc they were too pretty
@@allisonebrahimigold7649 I can’t bring myself to cut my flowers either. The bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds love them and I love watching them. Little pollen pants on the bees is adorable.
FYI for Allison, the Walla Walla onions will store, but you have to pick them at the right time and then lay them out to dry back, before storing them. Plus you need to store them at the right temperature. I have never done this but I watch GardenAnswer on UA-cam. Laura does this every year around this time, but she also lives in the part of the Country that grows amazing onions.
I was coming here to also suggest Garden Answer. Laura picked a ton of onions on today's episode 8/9/24. She showed how to wait until the stem collapses to harvest and dry.
I don't expect her to ever feel comfortable on camera, but she has definitely grown over the years, and I'm happy to see how far she has come I hope you guys have delicious meals ahead!
❤ Great video, Morgan. I love Allison's serendipity attitude towards her flowers. She's certainly eager to talk about her choices for her kitchen garden. Wishing you success with your catnip venture! What lucky cats to have a direct supply of catnip. ❤
Allison, if you get to the end of the season and you still have onions left, I chop or slice my wallawallas and freeze them for easy cooking later, since they don’t store well by hanging. They’re beautiful, btw.
Lil looks exactly like my old lady Layeela. When I moved from California to uk, I brought over 2 of my beebeez, both died of old age in my arms, one was 19 and this one 22 which is 104 in human age, she was a very classy lady and very verbal and communicative all the way till her last breath ❤❤❤❤
Tip: cut your herbs ( basil, parsley, cilantro) and harvest them in big bunches. Take a bunch (cilantro for example), and chop them up by hand or ideally in a food processor and then put the chopped herb in a gallon size plastic bag and spread it out flat inside the bag and freeze it. It’s great to use in cooking all through the year!
Hi!!!! Gardener of over 15 yeas here. A few things. Cabbage is ready when all the center leaves are tightly packed together like a baseball and you really want them heavy for their size, you can pull all the biggest bottom leaves off so the plant puts more energy into the middle. I usually pull 4 to 5 leaves per plant.. less if there are less.. you can also eat the leaves once you pull the head out. Tomatoes!! If you love those little orange tomatoes, next spring look for Yellow Pear Tomatoes.. they are small and so so good. Also, your tomato jungle is a thing bc you're planting too densely and not cutting anyone back.. check your spacing. You can get more yield with better management. Onions. To make them last you can chop or slice them and freeze!! We also couldn't get storage onions this year and I was crushed but the freezing is my work around. Your garden look amazing!!! Cut some of those flowers and take them in!!! Beautiful!!!!
I don’t know how close to seed some of the catnip is, but when I flip my catnip to dry, I put some white poster board or a white tray underneath. When it dries, I give each a shake and sometimes seeds will drop. I use those in turn to keep seeding the area just in case the Winter kills part of the patch off. (I live in Michigan).
Yes, Allison's annual garden tour, thanks Allison! The flowers really bring a big smile to the garden don't you think. I remember when you planted the catnip, and it is amazing how much it's grown. Can't wait to meet the goats, trying to guess what breed, personally I'm all for Pygmy, lol. Thanks Morgan and Allison for the update!🐖🌱🌾💐🍅🍆🍎!
Allison's garden is so beautiful. The new barn is a great backdrop for it. Thanks for including the catnip. I was wondering how Allison felt about the goats. Looking forward to seeing them.
Loved the garden tour. Re: picking the flowers vs leaving them in the garden, some annuals are stimulated into producing more flowers by picking. The object of these "Cut & Come Again" plants is to be sure the plants produce & drop seeds, so feed them well - like in your enriched soil, since I'm assuming you add in chicken manure whenever you toss your compost pile. If you add a few inches on your beds in spring, it may be enough for the season, but you could try adding an additional inch or less, monthly since annuals usually respond well to monthly feedings. I think Marigolds might be cut & come again, and for sure, Zinneas are! They have the best saturated colors, variations & heights! I just looked this up, so others are Cosmos & Dahlias, Sweet Peas, Strawflowers, also Statice, Gomphrena & Amaranth, for starters. ❤ Oh and the Kale is great in home made soups!
You will really like having goats. Wonderful property brush management and Allison will make them sweet, adorable farm pets. Hopefully you’re getting wethers. Excited for the upcoming goat videos!
Allison, you need tt start Eggplant indoors, early. Like in February. They take a long time to grow, and are a tropical plant. We learned by experience. Ironically, we had the best luck, by transplanting eggplant into our pepper patch.
Ms Allison: Read up on "pruning basil". Much the same happens with many of the annual flowers. The more you clip, the bushier they become and also the more seeds they try to produce. In the case of flowers, the flowers beget the seeds so you will get more flowers. Experiment in your existing bed for 10-15 minutes by pruning, or taking flowers from just some of the flowers to see what they do.
I got so excited when I saw this! I’ve been looking forward to Allison’s yearly tour of her garden for so long! Thank you for sharing this with us every year, Allison! It is a joy to see!
I love Allison's attitude toward her garden, pests, all of it. Ground cherries, yum! I keep having them come back in weird places and that's OK! Eggplants are so sketchy. They need a LONG time, at least here...just a wonderful, wonderful garden, thank you!
Try 🍅🍅🍅 JULIET tomatoes. Another variety that reseeds easily, almost inevitably. Wee, Juliet tomatoes are a hybrid variety of cherry tomato that are plum-sized, sweet, and juicy, with a glossy, deep red color. They are crack-resistant and can stay on the vine longer than most cherry tomatoes, making them ideal for salads and leftovers. Juliet tomatoes are also resistant to Alternaria and Leaf Blight, and can be used for canning, drying, or sauces.
Eggplants should be buried much deeper into the ground to thrive, but in such shallow beds you can try raising a small berm or mound to cover their stems up to the first leaf. For pest control tell her to plant a small patch of basil in the center of each growth bed, it's a natural insect repellent. You can also make "pepper tea" to spray on the affected plants, it's a fully organic and harmless concoction I use regularly in my garden (50g of ground black pepper + 50g of hot peppers powder boiled in 5 liters of plain water, in your units that'd be about an ounce of each per gallon).
Fun garden tour. If you cut off the scapes of the garlic in June your bulbs will be larger. Scape pesto is delish! If your beans are climbing beans you can arch hag panel over the paths between beds and pick peans that hand down. 3' between ends gives you a 6.5-7' high arch
Thank you for the tour of Allison's garden. It is looking great! Regarding cutting flowers to take inside to enjoy, I've taken to just cutting a couple of flowers and maybe some interesting leaves, like rosemary, to enjoy in bud vases. That way I don't need to arrange a bigger vase of flowers, just a small bud vase. I put the bud vases in the bathrooms. They make me smile when i enter.
I think having a successful garden growing plants you will eat is one of the true pleasures in life. It's lovely to see Allison's garden. It looks very productive and everything is growing abundantly, it's a joy to behold! Thank you Allison for telling us about yours. Have a great weekend!
What I really like about Alison is that she is authentic and real. If she does not like something she says or shows it. Fresh breathe of air in this internet world. 🥰
On the cabbage, don't kill the plant when you cut off the cabbage. The plant will shoot up a new sprout and grow same small cabbages on it. You get about 2 times the cabbage that way in most climates. Also cabbage can stand a frost so let them stay a while.
Allison may not THINK she's a farmer, but...........Allison, you ARE a farm girl!! I really enjoy watching you and listening to you humor...and your garden is beautiful!
Allison, try and expand your garden every year. It's a joy to grow different things and flowers are ALWAYS a good thing. They draw pollinators to your garden and they make you happy! Experiment with different things. It's fun. Next step will be growing enough to can for the winter! Canning is easy as long as you go by the rules and can be very addicting!
I live in a big bustling city in the dry arid southern California area and dude watching your videos brings me so much peace and joy. I’m working so hard to one day have the life you have that’s my ultimate goal in life 🙏
I couldn't help but notice you didn't seem to harvest any of your garlic scapes. If you harvest most them just as they start to curl down and around, you'll still get some seeds to replant next year, but you can also cook them directly, OR you can also dehydrate them and then powder them with a coffee grinder or mill, and make an AMAZING and very potent garlic powder. I'd also suggest you make a bed along the back wall of your garden specifically for tomatoes, and build the wall up like a trellece to let them crawl up it. Should help contain the tomato jungle, and helps you maintain them very easily while also getting them up higher to reduce strain on your backs. :)
Allison, great garden. Check out Vegetables Love Flowers by lisa mason ziegler. Another book she wrote is Cool Flowers. Her UA-cam Channel is Gardeners Workshop. I love you guys (especially Allison) - makes my day to see there’s another vlog. And then…cherry on top, it’s her annual garden tour❣️ Waiting to see the next live stream with you both dressed in costume! Peace, Love and Gardens 😊
Allison's garden looks great. Did you forget to cut your garlic scapes? Our garlic harvest was a good month early this year, picked the scapes mid may and by June the garlic was ready for harvest. We have catnip patches all over our backyard in spots. It's one of those plants the chickens and ducks leave alone. In the late spring I cut it all back and dry it. After it regrows and starts to flower we leave that for the wild birds and the yellow finches. None of our cats like the seed heads, plus it makes a mess with all the little seeds falling to the ground.
BTW. CAT NIP IS EXCELLENT FOR HEAD ACHES. ESPECIALLY MIGRAINS. ❤ GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND MANY PRAYERS. NURSE JUDI IN SCOTTSDALE AZ AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTER 🙏🏻

Fantastic to see Allison in the garden ,❤
Allison just letting the caterpillars eat the dill because they were enjoying it is darling❤
This video really comes off as a love letter to Allison and it shows, Morgan. Nevermind she's so lovely!
Looking forward to seeing the goats join the farm! Great to see Allison doing this as part of the fundraiser.
"Every year is the best garden year yet." So true, love it!!
No more singing, Morgan ! 🤣🤣
Maybe no more, but his bad singing fit that moment perfectly.
Amen😂😂😂😂
I Disagree, this behavior should be strongly encouraged
That and shave... your gray beard makes you look like a homeless flower sniffer! ;o)
He sounds like Pablo on a catnip toot.
I love Allison’s heart for all creatures. She gets truly excited about seeing the pigs.
I look forward to Allison's garden tour. She has just the right mix of excitement with snark! 🤣
"You don't do it in real life... Thankfully" 😂 Allison is amazing and so politely savage
"Surprisingly, there's a lot to do on the farm". 😂 Allison is such a natural treasure. You won out, there, Morgan.
Thank you Allison 😊

I love her attitude regarding the caterpillars eating all her dill! I feel exactly the same way
The 80s hair-band flower montage… perfect. I laughed hard.
