I am picking up a used one today at a very good price and your video like others I have watched helped a lot in this decision. Thank you very much for providing this.
Thank you for the video! I have this mic and it sounds pretty dark on my voice compared to my Aston Origin (and Spirit) and the TLM 103. I wonder whether it's my voice or my mic is defective.
No, it’s definitely not your voice or the mic being defective. This is the natural characteristic of this mic. That’s the reason why it works well as an overhead mic for drums. It reduces the harshness emitted by the snair, hi-hat and cymbals. This way, they come out sounding tamed and well rounded, effective easy to listen to without giving you an ear-splitting headache. To be honest, I don’t care for them as a vocal mic because they make the vocals recede and become faded in the mix.
Thank you for such a thorough reply man! You've helped me to make the decision whether to keep it or now. The decision is to sell - I'm sure it will find its use somewhere else. Cheers! @@ZPJ_Studio
Nice review. I am a singer/songwriter and also exploring mixing on my own. I am interested in upgrading my mic and very much interested in the KSM32. Would it be possible for you to send me the raw individual tracks (or make the tracks available for download) including vocal track of any song which you recorded with this mic ? It will help me explore and understand better by trying out my own mix, specially the problem mentioned in the other comments on this video about the vocals not sitting in a mix. Thanks.
Sorry, I did not keep any vocal recordings with this mic as they got erased in the recording process due to the sheer lack of uselessness in any intricate mix. If you are I terested in an upgrade, I sincerely recommend thr UAD Sphere LX due to it's sound and versatility. Of course, the DLX would give you even more options. The SHURE KSM32 is more of a one trick pony! Can work on guitar cabins, and are great on overheads.
hi man, a friend gave me this mic and i also have a scarlett 2i2 but i feel like that the vocals are really not intense and whatever i do like speak really close compress or add a software pre amp it always feels like it is not intense and present, i dont know if i just need a reel pre amp or if the mic have a probleme. When i listen to your video i feel like yours is better because mine have less hi freqencies and feel very boxy....
my friends want me to mix vocals and always make me listen to a song name damso - pyramide and i always try to match the intensity of the vocals but it doesnt work ...i dont know if its the mic or if i need a pre amp...
There is nothing wrong with your mic or setup. It’s the nature of this mic. Not very present. So it’s good for overheads as it tames the harsh nature of cymbals and snares. It’s a good standalone mic for a solo vocal track, but forget putting the track in a mix. The vocals get lost.

How does it sounds as compared to your legendary U87.
@@HarvinderSingh-yy8th It sounds DARK compared to the U87ai and the vintage U87 even.
