    How're you guys holding up? What's your favorite drone atm that you're flying? Mine is the Mavic Air 2!

    • @tonyowen116
      @tonyowen116 4 роки тому

      Hey Carson, not sure who you're addressing this question to, but I'm flying the 2Pro and the MA2. Since the recent firmware update on the MA2, it might well become my "go to" drone. Time will tell. Unfortunately, I haven't flown since the middle of July, due to various reasons. (Seriously smokey skies and air being one.) So perhaps this coming month, I'll be able to resume my cinematic practice flights. Have thought of many shots I'd like to try.
      I do try and practice, watching some of my previous drone footage, with my controller in hand, just to practice the stick movements. LA LA Land is not an easy place to drone fly. Many times its an hours drive to fly without having to unlock Geofencing.
      Cheers.....

      MA2! Hey do you ming doing a video of battery best practices? I had to send my MA2's batteries back to DJI because they overheat after being charger and resting for less than 24 hrs. How do you update the firmware on them? What's the best way to charge them? an Hr. before a flight? the day before? stored them in the carrying case? etc... Thanks! thanks for your videos!!!

    Thanks. Bought my Mini in 7/2000 and flew quite a bit that summer. Then life started interfering and I havent flown in nearly 2½ yrs and forgot a lot of the settings and flying details. There's a lot to remember...Time to review all the settings and controls & get back in the air and this was very helpful!

    Hey Carson.... Glad you covered this gimbal movement. I've been playing with this technique a lot. Got a few movements to try.
    Perhaps using your basket ball hoop - start at ground level, with gimbal pointed up, perhaps at the hoop, or just below. As you rise in the air, move your gimbal to maintain a center point on the hoop, rising above the backboard about 10 feet. Then reverse the movement. Another one - go out about 500 or more; hit the RTH button.As the drone comes close to the RTH home plate, start to pan down with the gimbal, keeping the 'H' somewhat centered in frame. Give the drone time to orient itself, especially if coming at home plate from a different direction. Its kind of a cool shot. Another exercise - if you have a tree line close by, take off, fly toward the tree line (at a safe altitude to make sure you clear the trees) - gimbal down as you approach the tree line to maintain the top of the trees, and then pan back up as you cross over, perhaps making a turn toward on open field. Just some ideas.

    • @tonyowen116
      @tonyowen116 4 роки тому

      @@carsonmtech Hey Carson... Just one more exercise if you like.... Find a curvy stream or bike path, gimbal positioned so you see mostly trail or stream, but have enough forward view so as not to hit anything. (Might have a bit of far horizon as a context/environment orientation.) Fly at an altitude of 10 or 20 feet AGL, and follow the path or stream, trying to keep it mostly centered in frame. Then reverse and fly back the direction you came. Requires the turn, bank, and forward stick combo co-ordination. Don't fly too quickly. This is supposed to be a quasi-cinmatic move.

    Hi Carson, I plan to get the Part 107 Cert. (I used to fly airplanes at a flight school) I got my study book in the mail today. Should I start with a Mini or Air 2 or do the Mini for practicing and upgrade to a Mavic Pro later. I create TV commercials and I will need some good quality footage for clients. My friend is shooting with a Mavic Pro for me now. Your blue eyeglasses "rock" too.

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  4 роки тому +1

      Thank ya in regards to the glasses :). As far as what to start on, if you absolutely have zero experience with drones and have the cash, I would start with a Mavic Mini or an older Phantom 3 or possibly used Phantom 4 drone. I say those as those are just much more easy to learn with because they allow YOU, the pilot, more direct control since they don’t have sensors really. That comes with a level of having to learn to really fly a drone, but I think that’s valuable. They still have GPS positioning, and depending on the model, pretty much all actually have downwards facing sensors in the least to assist with landing. After learning with those, if their specs aren’t adequate, my end all be all drone would be the Mavic 2 Pro since it has its 1” Hasselblad sensor which looks absolutely gorgeous for pretty much all videos and photos with very high resolution.
      In saying that, I also like my Mavic Air 2 a lot and also think it has a pretty decent sensor, so that may also be good. I’m actually currently in the process of making a video about the Mavic Air 2 sensor which will come out within the next week or so, so look out for that!
