I knew her very well . She were my neighbour in Paris and a dearest friend. I shall never forget her interprétation of Debussy, Ravel and Fauré. She was really the best of her time in that repertoire.
She takes a great deal of care to insure that every note is heard, and as a result I felt -- as to some of these pieces -- as if I were really hearing it for the first time. These are remarkable performances, not to be forgotten.
She is an utter Marvel... she can separate all the notes on "Jeux d'eau" ..Entranced for years now with every aspect of her genius. Tone and technique off the charts. What piano is supposed to sound like.
19:16 : Prélude 21:04 : À la manière de Chabrier 23:07 : À la manière de Borodin 24:58 : Menuet sur le nom d’Haydn 27:08 : Sonatine I. Modéré II. Mouvement de menuet III. Animé
Here Jeux d'eau is stunning, and such a pleasure to listen to. She obviously made huge investment in her Ravel playing. It kind of has the impression of a life's work. Technique to make it happen. Thank you M. Haas, we remember you...
Such a superbly produced recording to say nothing of the playing. Such dignity and poise...the most beautiful piano sound...without posturing or exaggeration...Tombeau, Valses Nobles, Gaspard, Sonatine, ..I listened transfixed to the entire album...couldn't allow myself to turn it off.
An incredible performer! Even though some of her interpretations are faster than what many are used to, her precision and control over the scope of emotion is just wow.
@@vivaelparaguay You're right! I actually meant to say slower. I had a different sentence in there, and mistakenly left "faster" in there. I meant to say "slower" :)
Thanks, I had been looking for this for a while. The unlabeled tracks after Jeux d'eau are: Prelude, A la Maniere de Chabrier, A la Maniere de Borodine, Menuet sur le Nom d'Haydn, Sonatine.

So lucky were you !

Monique seems able to comprehend the whole essence of Ravel, no matter which piece. ❤

Quel régal ! Le chat est même venu écouter de plus près, et il est fin mélomane...
そうですね、ウチのネコたちも、いま、静かに演奏を聴いています。

what ?! these interpretations are between slow and VERY slow tempos. Excellent, yes, but never faster than others...

Not So Good!!! I love Walter Gieseking's Play !!
Lacks dynamics, sorry but to slow I don't like that
+ Lukas The infinite Me too !!! I can't hear Ravel's Good Sounds by This Play !!!
Lukas The Infinite to slow ? I think you meant two slow.
Lukas The Infinite
Haas isn't nearly as good as Gieseking on this composer.
