Discovered Buffers recently. Fascinating museum (possibly the right term for upstairs). Great stock downstairs too, although prices vary from unbelievably good right the way through to expensive, allegedly depending on how long they’ve been in stock. Lovely homemade cakes too, which I sampled - it would be rude not to! 😉
Wel that was real nice to watch John! A real trip around a regular place for me! I go to Buffers quite often, its such a wel stockd place! The railway upstairs always annoys me a bit tho, not lookd aftr it seems n doesnt work like it used to do! Love lookin round his collection tho! As for the ford at Bolton Abbey, ive been through that a fair few times, on foot!! Lots of trips to Bolton Abbey! As for cycling through the ford, i once did this at the one at Bingley, by Myrtle Park??? Mor like a full river that one, i got three quarters across, n then down like a sack of spuds!! Absolutely drenched lol! Thanks for sharing mate
Matthew Snowden Shunter Guy yes Mathew. . I used to live in harden and walked across the golf course to bingley station. ..near the ford. that one is really rough to deter motorists. It is a shame about the state of the layouts but I didn't ask why. He does have an amazing collection.
Hi Dave, yes that Ford stopped us (its all Henry's fault) .... but also didn't see many trucks attempting that road! The owner gets custom from visitors to Bolton Abbey who walk the mile up from the river but no passing trade. OK if it is not your only source of income.
Well Ralph-Peter it used to. There are lots of push buttons around the layouts which start sequences of movement. But of course the locos, stock and track all need maintainance and nothing was powered up when we went. During the summer it is a big attraction for grandfathers and grandchildren! The rest of the family can enjoy tea and cake.
Did you buy anything? Amazing out of the way place. Or...seems out of the way to me. Very cool, they started building layouts and couldn't stop. Thanks for sharing, Rob
Not this time Rob. I was tempted by the FMR transfers which are out of production now I believe. It is out of the way, but considering how much York station used to charge for seeing a model railway it is a bargain (free if you buy a coffee!)
hi John, I think you have named this video incorrectly? Buffers Model Train shop, is on the A358 at Colton Cross between Axminster and Chard. The one you show here is not named on the video. Ok? John Stubbington

It is a great cafe with toy and train shop attached..... And in such an unexpected place. Not exactly on the beaten track.
WONDERFUL---combining several businesses in one establishment---including trains! :)
Yes. Very enterprising. I guess it satisfies the interests of both owners.
Well that's a cosy model shop😀👍🏻🇬🇧 Regards from Holland - Joachim
Yes, Joachim, it is. I have enjoyed a couple of visits to Holland - and model shops. John

I was just looking at it on Google Satellite maps. It is definitely out of the way by my reference. lol
Yes, include a visit to Bolton Abbey and the Embsay heritage steam railway line.
