Taurus hit a home run with this gun. It's the perfect J frame size stainless steel pistol at 24 ounces to better handle 38 special and 38 special plus P/ plus P plus 38 special. The pistol is a 357 magnum capable gun but I personally would only do so if I had to in a 2-inch snub nose revolver. Smith & Wesson's sister model 640 has a weight of 22 ounces so Taurus stepped it up 2 ounces more and got it right big time because the added weight has these pistols selling good with reliability to boot all day.
Yeah having that option makes it more affordable to shoot at the range. Of course you always have to shoot some .357 magnum to remember the recoil difference.
I have a 3 " 605. I got rid of the snubby, had no issues with it.Just wanted a longer barrel. I have since purchased a 66, 608 and 627. Yes I love Taurus guns.
Nothing wrong with that. 3" probably takes some of the snap off the little guy and adds some accuracy at distance. Having that many Taurus pistols, your love is undeniable, lol.
@@RealPorkchop Absolutely. I now got me some moss burg shot guns 12 and 20 gauge. As i close in on retirement I am thinking about working at a shooting range lol.
Great video!! Subscribed. I own a Taurus 605 and love it. I personally carry the Remington HTP 125 grain SJHP loaded in mine. This ammo has been around since the 80’s and is a definite proven one shot man stopper.
Im a revolver aficionado, but I don't sneeze at pistols. I have a GP100 that's a fine shooter. Bought my first, a single-six in '67, now have a fine S&W .380 EZ that my son recommended due to arthritis in my thumbs. 100% reliable but hard (for me) to shoot accurately. Now looking to get a more concealable firearm; probably either an 856 .38 or a 605, in two inch snubnose. Watching you guys to get a better idea. I'm only going to be shooting .38 special, maybe plus p.
The 605 is an accurate snub nose and the .38 special +p is comfortable to shoot. The .357 magnum really puts some force into the hand, especially with the short handle and would probably aggravate your thumbs a bit.
nice video. i have thought about rolling my spool from my old barn up the hill to where i now shoot. you make me want to do it now. the 605 is what i carry over my sp101 because its shorter barrel and lighter weight make it more comfortable to carry appendix. i shoot it better than the ruger, too.
I love revolvers and especially Taurus 605 and model 82, any 1911's .45 or .22. If the SHTF bug out, is a must to be proficient with a Glock, and have lots of mags loaded, but they are not my favorite to shoot.
I like revolvers as well. One should be proficient with whatever firearms you have, no matter the brand. If you don't train with them you won't be good with them. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Great video my friend,i had a model 85 38 spl. Ultra light and never had any issues with it, now I'm thinking about buying the 856 3 inch barrel,i seen them on buds gun shop for less than 4 hundred,i just bought a tisas 1911 so i have to wait little bit longer money is tide now in this days, take care and stay safe.
Parkland Indiana should be a 'wake up call' to everyone considering CCW. We know a few things: #1 bad guy with AR rifle, capable of easily making 100+ yard shots if a semi-trained individual. #2 good guy with a Glock sub-compact with 10 rounds (43x/48/43xmos/48mos). #3 good guy hit 8 of 10 shots. #4 good guy started shooting at 40 yards, then advanced to under 30 yards. Knowing just these pieces of information, my takeaway is that the good guy missed at 40 yards and likely missed at 35 yards, too. Then the good guy got inside 30 yards and started hitting with his 3.42" barrel (of which 1.2" is just the chamber). So... good guy with 2" of rifled barrel in a semi-auto was unable to produce hits at distances greater than 30 yards. Not to be silly, but any trained person (LEO, military veteran, etc...) that decided to be a bad-guy and shoot up the mall would have recognized the incoming fire and the 'good-guy' would never have fired his 2nd or 3rd+ rounds. I choose accuracy over magazine capacity. In double action, 4" groups at 30 yards are easily obtained. In single action, 4" groups at 40 to 50 yards are easily obtained. I cannot do this with a 3 inch subcompact semi-auto, but with a revolver it is easy-peasy. The distance that you can consistently shoot a 4" group at the range is the MAX distance to consider engaging a threat. Adrenalin dump, etc... will triple your group size.
Are you having an issue with any shrapnel coming back to you after shooting? Just wondering because I bought one a few months ago, have not shot it. I seen some videos with cylinder timing being the issue with these revolvers.
@@RealPorkchop I'm working on my 605 today. Installing a Wolff spring kit. I've done the same to my model 66 and 627. On other brands of revolvers I expect to polish the internals and maybe use a polishing stone on the sear. I've never had to do that on a Taurus revolver. And YES, I'm a very fussy old man that only wants perfection no matter how much work I need to put into polishing and fine tuning. (the internals). I'm in rural Alaska so the exterior cosmetics are optional. I use a paste wax (Minwax) for that. Enjoy.
That'll be a mighty nice 605 once you get it finished up. Have you ever chamfered the cylinder on any of your revolvers for quicker/easier reloads? And absolutely nothing wrong with being particular about your tools. You take care of them and they take care of you. Have a great day working on your pistol!
@@RealPorkchop I've never chamfered the cylinder before. I do have a tapered reamer that's just the right size. I'll have to try that just a little. Reloading time hasn't been a priority for me but I do use speed loaders. I didn't need to do anything to the sear, just new springs and clean up anything that puts drag on the springs. It's running so very smooth now.
I plan to add a 2-inch and 4-inch 357 to my collection. In 2-inch I am looking at the Taurus 605 and Charter Arms Pug. I am seeing a lot of videos of problems with the Taurus and that customer service is poor. Anyone have those issues?
Thank you for the video. I like them all revolvers and Striker Fired and single action pistols.
Thank you for watching! I like all pistols too.
I’ve always loved revolvers
They're fun to shoot and give you that feeling of nostalgia
I love revolvers I used to have the Taurus stub nose 38 special and I’m thinking this will be next !
It's a good one, and you can still shoot 38 special for practice.
Love the 605 and carry Critical Defense .357 in it. Puts some pop in this pop gun
It definitely puts some pop in it lol
Try the Buffalo Bore 125gr ammo. You can get insane velocities of a 2" barrel, even up to 1450fps.
I was pistol only person but not anymore. I love my 856 and 605 revolvers.
That's good, rifles and shotguns have their place too. The 605 has been good to me as well.

How you like it so far?
I have the 605 and 856 love them both ty
I haven't shot the 856 but I like my 605. Thanks for watching
My 605 kicks ass. To brought it out again after your video really cool gun
They're definitely fun to shoot! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Picking up my Taurus 605 next week and already own a 1973 Smith and Wesson model 27-2. Also got a CZP10C, but definitely like my wheelguns better 💥💥💥
Cool! I've been looking at CZ P-09 lately

@tonyrebel63 Sounds like it's time for some rifles to add to the collection. That sounds like a good idea for a post retirement job. 🍻

Try the Buffalo Bore 125gr ammo. You can get up to 1450fps out of a 2" barrel. It's taking snubnose performance to the next level.

I just bought one a month-and-a-half ago I haven't took it shooting yet it looks like fun though

I have a Taurus Model 617T that looks a lot like the Model 605 but the 617 Model is a seven shot.
Seven shots are better than five. I'll have to check one of those out.

They make a nice little pocket rocket.

When did Taurus stop using those grips. I rather like the medallion.
I'm not sure to be honest. I bought this one several years ago.
