Come Dine With Me takes people who are experts in the art of giving the perfect dinner party and puts their skills to the test. All are great cooks and excellent hosts - but they're all very different. So, if one person's perfect dinner party is another person's evening from hell, how will our hosts cope with a whole week of each other's hospitality?
Each night for a week, one of our hosts will throw a dinner party for the others. They all have their own unique styles of cooking and entertaining, but they're all determined to impress, because at the end of each evening, the guests will give their host a mark out of ten. The host with the most points at the end of the week wins £1,000 pounds. Come Dine With Me has expanded to a variety of formats including singles, couples and celebrity specials!

A lot of people don't realise the difference between "best before" and "use by" dates on packaging. Best before means the product is at its best quality or primo before that date whereas use by means to consume before that date as it will most likely go bad after that date. One is a recommendation for quality while one is letting you know you'll probably be injesting a product that is going bad or has gone bad basically in the stages of developing mould or going sour.
I came here to say the exact same thing, but you said it a lot better 🙂 Also, use by is for the companies to not be sued if someone gets sick. I don't eat past use by, or expiration date in my country, but I know a lot of poverty stricken people who do. Or freeze it on the expiration date 🙂
Also, we can judge most products based on our senses pretty well: if it looks, smells, feels and tastes alright, it's usually going to be alright.

She's making a cake version of a bread and butter pudding. Bread and butter pudding explicitly uses stale bread. It HAS to be stale for it to work, otherwise the bread just dissolves into the custard. It needs to be stale to stop that happening.

Yeah how does she find the food? Is it already all discarded so she's bound by what she finds for her menu? I have a lot of questions haha.

Best before dates (at least where I live) are a conservative suggestion for when food should be eaten by. It doesn't necessarily mean you can't eat it past that date, it's just recommended you don't in case it's gone off. I think food that's a day or so past it's date is unlikely to be inedible.
Best before dates and expiry dates are two very different things. Like milk has a set expiry, but tinned foods have a best before date.
There is a different between best before and expiration date. I think that is what peoole don't get. Best Before just means it won't taste like it normally would after that date. Expiration date it is spoiled.

As someone who has had food poisoning for 2 months from old tuna in a can, PASSSSS!
Eating out of date meat or fish is simply dangerous and on another level. It's not comparable to bread or chickpeas.

I have long eaten 'Best Before' or 'Use By' foods...If it looks and smells OK....I eat it. I work with a lady who threw away 24 turkey based Lidl sausages (costing roughly a Tenner), because they were one single day 'out of date!' .....Food poverty, much?? 😔😔😔b
I don't use dates, I've got eyes and a nose for a reason...

They took the stale food thing really well. I would have been livid. It's not something to do for a dinner party. She should eat it herself and risk getting ill, not her guests.
Perhaps they understand that something being past its Best Before Date doesn't make it stale.
Best before is not the same as expired food.

No offence to her but all the off food may be causing the rash on her arms no way u can serve that to guests
I also believe she went on this programme to show that a lot of Brits have to live off food banks, food shares and live off yellow stickers. Obviously you wouldnt eat gone off chicken or any meat (unless handled correctly). But it's the unfortunate truth in society today.

@@sarahtaylor7737 I am not. Nor have I ever claimed to be. But I do have this condition myself and if I could help educate people more about this condition so be it. If you would like more information please feel free to look at BAD (which is run by doctors in the uk and is a tool used by many dermatologists). The world health organisation may also offer you additional information and the nhs website ( i am presuming you are uk based). From engaging with many people with psoriasis, the characteristics of psoriasis does appear to be similar. However, treatments and additional symptoms can vary from person to person. If anyone who does come across this thread and believes they do have psoriasis or any dermatology issue I strongly advice them to speak to their own health care professional.
After watching this episode I do agree foods should not been given to others if our of date or the use by date has passed. I personally wouldn't give anything to anyone past the best before date. However, I understand that some people dont have that luxury. Especially during this economic climate. I believe this woman went on the programme to educate people about food banks and was trying to make a point with the food she was serving. The current living wage just isnt enough the uk survive. Or even purchase a proper meal!
I do however agree with other peoples comments about her hair being put up but I would say that about anyone handling food.
