I am a Therapist. I guess I am lucky to be single so that will never happen to me. Lol! No, we can’t say anything. However, there are limits to confidentiality. Yes, you could lose your license if you say something to someone unless you’re under supervision (we need 3k hours in my state before sitting for a licensing exam). Not all Therapists focus on couples counseling. My niches include Eating Disorders, EMDR, Christian therapy and sports performance. I don’t work with couples. An LMFT is just the license. We work within a relational framework. Yes, you learn to NOT take things home. I am able to separate from my professional life. You do self-care, which for me includes running 1/2 marathons, playing piano and being involved in church.
@@MichaelYoComedy , you’re welcome. Just one more thing: on the flip side, just because a client is single does not mean that a married Therapist can’t have that person as a client. As you know, being single in your 50’s is way different than someone who was single in their 20’s. I don’t do couples, though for the reason that you and others believe about a Couple’s Therapist.
