Hi Chris, thanks for your kind words. The parachute is suspended by a very high cable and rope, from which I carabiner a drop line which holds the top of the parachute paracord. Then it's a simple task to pull the sides out and attach to a rope ring just above head height which runs the whole length of the circumference. Actually, that's a mistranslation of the Latin name. The correct (and realistically less offensive) translation would be Judas's Ear. Folklore has it that Judas hanged himself on an Elder tree, which gives further credence to the name

As you rightly identify the botanical name of the fungus is Oria oncula judea. Hence the more usual common name of Jews ear fungus.
