Agree!! Actually the GNU should have been implemented with the democracy in 1994. That would have saved us from everything turning into mud through the anc's greed, arrogance and negligence.
Haha everything turned to mud the moment settlers thought they had rights to land that didn't belong to them. This revisionist history is annoying and as disappointing as ANC is, your embedded racism always pops up because first of all, the ANC inherirated a messed up government. Your old government was only good for a select few so...not the most competent government now was it?
When I lived in Tshwane, I was a firm advocate for ASA, but with this ANC negotiation they are really taking a gamble, personally, I’d end up voting for the DA to continue with the progress they’re making and withdraw my ASA vote, but ke we are mere mortals relying basic thinking, without the apparently superior logic of the ASA. I hope they know what they’re doing.
@@MotlokwaThwii No, by my logic they are not the only party allowed to coalesce with the ANC. In this case, ASA is clearly not coalescing with the ANC for the same reasons they got the votes that put them in this position to begin with.
@@siZobonaMakeza same goes to DA, they are arrogant and tend to care about other races when it is convenient to them. Just take a look at how Hellen wanted to dictate the so called GNU agreement by trying to bar other parties such as PA to be recognized as members. Whatever your political leanings the DA does a good job bringing in young leaders. In contrast old bitter Herman sits there acting like a child, he has no solutions only his ego.
ActionSA is slightly unfair. The Tshwane coalition created a deputy mayor position against all odds. So now they want to have both deputy mayor and speaker positions. This is out of order.

It is vital to have leadership that is considerate and clear headed. Passionate and determined. It is clear that Cilliers Brink is focused in the now and clearly could continue to orchestrate and build a successful city. However, it appears that there are those around him that would jeopardise the future for their individual agendas. It is a tragedy that the people will ultimately be the losers as this factionalism plays through. I hope for the sake of the majority of people - suffering from poor service delivery - that the small circle of leadership - grow up and fight for the success of their municipality and not just their own sense of having been jilted. The entire country has been jilted by their ANC Romance - they have been sabotaged and hung out to dry by successive leadership groups - determined to feather their individual nests - Will Action SA gain a mantle: "Blatant Saboteurs!" In SA the pain of these unscrupulous leaders is simply beyond speech. For the last 15 years I have grown poorer from month to month - no respite! Leadership: "WAKE UP AND SERVE!"
We all want good governance but we should not only focus on building and negate the past injustices other races have endured, particularly black people. We all want what's great for SA but the DA is too arrogant especially at the top.
Mr. Mashaba has to get over with whatever happened to him while he was at DA so he can concentrate in constructive issues and have citizens interests in mind.
Mashaba doesn't owe DA loyalty. He's doing what was requested by ActionSA in Tshwane. DA needs to learn that you can't keep a Coalition together with arrogance
@@ProcaviaCapensis-ts8ub They don't... DA has been playing games with ASA. I think it's time for ASA to also play politics. @@ProcaviaCapensis-ts8ub Agree.. All I am saying is that they must also play politics like DA; to also do what DA or any party do to them.. Even Helen Zille always puts the interests of SA as a country first before those of the DA. She is a true and principled patriot!!

DA should respect ActionSA's independence in choosing partners or starting new relationships. Brink, you failed the workers of Tshwane. You failed voters in the township. I respect Mr. Lesufi for making a wise decision not to work with the DA. Brink must just go now. Tshwane was so beautiful during Dr. Ramokgopa's leadership. Brink this is a democratic country. Youth in Tshwane are not benefiting and are unemployed worse done before.
I just love the way SMW can sincerely bridge the culture gap. After watching this interview as well as his other interviews with the likes of SACP and other progressives I see an extraordinary talent. Have never seen CB before and he is impressive. I thought he may be an FF+ type but clearly not. But I suspect with best intent in the world he may be more limited in getting into the the “other” space. Perhaps just he is Afrikaans don’t know. Not to do with him personally. Mashaba is younger and certainly impressive but he needs to pick himself up and dust off. He needs to stop throwing his toys out of the cot. If CB gets deposed let’s see if he can set a better example! However I sense a maturity in both of the young South Africans in this interview. I don’t see this in many of the older political leaders who seem mired in old ways. I can name Zilla, Malema, Zuma for instance. Steenhuisen is younger but unfortunately he is not the right leader for this country. He scares the hell out of me to be honest. Talent, character and values trumps age and experience every time.
I concur with you on the issue of the skills and abilities of conducting interviews in an impartial manner and it is also true yet funny how the older politicians are so arrogant and race oriented, I mean if DA was to strike a balance between dealing with the past injustices while ensuring that they do not exclude those who benefited from those injustices thereof, they would have been taking South Africa to its potential peak. Sadly their arrogance obscures them to recognize the pain endured by black people and they don't even have a plan to address that
I cannot wait for the day that the Zilles and Steenhuizens makes way for the truly young, inspirational leaders in the DA, people like Siv Gwarube, Geordin Hill-Lewis, Cilliers Brink, etc. These are the minds we need leading us.
ASA don't serve in government at the behest of the DA. Through ASA the DA had a chance to take Ekurhuleni and COJ but the DA weren't interested. When ASA made proposals the DA wouldn't support them but ASA would support DA's initiatives. I don't blame ASA. If they continued the way they were going they were never going to grow. I'm happy with the direction they've taken
The Sheriffs of the Courts fall under the Minister of Justice, who has problems. The Sherriff for Pretoria North East is responsible for service on Tshwane Metro, and are slow. Mayor Brink should check the dies and procedure with regard to service of process
Thanks Sizwe for this interview. But I have to say, I stay in Mucklenuek Pretoria, that mayor and his party have failed this city. The degeneration from 2015 onwards is quite intense, as is visible. The DA failed Tshwane. The internal street from the old east towards Lombardy via Lynnwood Road is a mess. And of course he’ll come here and scream his lungs out defending himself.

Whenever there are disputes , it is necessary to try and identify and understand the motives of the parties involved. Unfortunately high levels of industrial scale looting and corruption reminds us of the old phrase ' Economics controls politics ' , but if the economics, are those of the looters self interest , then the first order of all political parties should be to stand together and get all the bad actors ( looters ) out of the system and into jail , as if not they will still be calling the shots no matter who pretends to be ' in power ' . Regarding the administrators - the only criteria should be ' competence and character ' , and all those that really want a better SA for all , that have these characteristics , should be supported to the hilt , no matter the party they align with . We desperately need well run municipalities that can be replicated across the country, and party politics and posturing is extremely annoying for us citizens who pay their salaries. It was intended in 94 but the anc destroyed any chance because they were arrogant and thought they could run a huge economy with moegoes.
Haha everything turned to mud the moment settlers thought they had rights to land that didn't belong to them. This revisionist history is annoying and as disappointing as ANC is, your embedded racism always pops up because first of all, the ANC inherirated a messed up government.
The same DA that's in Coalition with ANC? By your logic, is DA the only one allowed to co-govern with ANC?
@@MotlokwaThwii No, by my logic they are not the only party allowed to coalesce with the ANC.
In this case, ASA is clearly not coalescing with the ANC for the same reasons they got the votes that put them in this position to begin with.
@@siZobonaMakeza same goes to DA, they are arrogant and tend to care about other races when it is convenient to them. Just take a look at how Hellen wanted to dictate the so called GNU agreement by trying to bar other parties such as PA to be recognized as members. ActionSA is slightly unfair. The Tshwane coalition created a deputy mayor position against all odds. So now they want to have both deputy mayor and speaker positions. This is out of order.
What a revealing interview around the mechanisms of how Tshwane Municipality councillors work together. If their interests lie in tenders as opposed to advancing their constituencies, then does this mean that the procurement systems are manipulated?

It is vital to have leadership that is considerate and clear headed. Passionate and determined. It is clear that Cilliers Brink is focused in the now and clearly could continue to orchestrate and build a successful city.
However, it appears that there are those around him that would jeopardise the future for their individual agendas. It is a tragedy that the people will ultimately be the losers as this factionalism plays through. I hope for the sake of the majority of people - suffering from poor service delivery - that the small circle of leadership - grow up and fight for the success of their municipality and not just their own sense of having been jilted.
The entire country has been jilted by their ANC Romance - they have been sabotaged and hung out to dry by successive leadership groups - determined to feather their individual nests - Will Action SA gain a mantle: "Blatant Saboteurs!"
In SA the pain of these unscrupulous leaders is simply beyond speech.
Thanks Siz for providing such insightful interviews ive learned a lot since subscribering last year.

I used to like to listen to Mr Mashaba but now I think his lost touch. It is all what he can get his very angry with Da
Mr. Mashaba has to get over with whatever happened to him while he was at DA so he can concentrate in constructive issues and have citizens interests in mind.
Mashaba doesn't owe DA loyalty. He's doing what was requested by ActionSA in Tshwane.

The DA has many young, honest and very capable leaders of all races across the country. It is not terrible at all!
Just look at Mayor Chris Pappas (32) of uMngeni Municipality in KZN and his young Deputy Mayor, Sandile Mnikathi (28). There is even an Arte tv Documentary about them on UA-cam!!
Even Helen Zille always puts the interests of SA as a country first before those of the DA. She is a true and principled patriot!!

I think you should've taken him on when he repeatedly mentioned "Anti-constitutionalist" as a scarecrow or a justification of their political choices...also, referring to your own previous podcasts which were very helpful in putting the issue in a more realistic context...Prof De Vos; Aubrey Matshiqi and many other scholars in the field.
Maybe you need to get both sides of the divide to come an debate the issue so that we, ordinary people, can fully appreciate what it really means...maybe🤷♂️🤔
Yes, call in Action SA with in the Tshwane municipality to explain their action and plan forward. If they play the card “we have been offended by the DA” then they should leave SA politics. The SA population does not have time for personal grievances.

I had a gut feel about Herman when he started his party. He sounded credible, but I felt he was not to be trusted. Need I say more. ......
The way the DA treated action SA
Like Mashaba treated DA?
Don't forget the lies they spoke about PA and add FF+ in the mix aswell
The voters will punish Action SA and the ANC in the next provisional election, then the DA will have all the power to run Tshwane successfully.

Dr, would you consider Geordin Hill Lewis as a guest?
It will be a sad day in Tshwane if this guy is made to step down.

Quite hypocritical of the DA to want a relationship with other parties and expect others not to do as they please.
