Aly Art Your videos are fantastic! I wondered if you could do a video about the body types and the ethnetics/race? I noticed in some parts of the world there are more gamines (maybe asia) or romantics (in southern europe) (so the fashion fits the local body types and it affects the stereotypes). What do you think about this?
I’m a soft classic and I always wondered why I look clownish so fast wearing heavier make up! It just doesn’t suit me. We’ll stick to time-less and neat, it might not be “trendy” at all times, but it’s beautiful. 😊💕
Dramatic Classic here. For years I`ve wondered, why adding just a bit more makeup than basic minimum would make my face appear tired and\or clownish, even though I was using just a little bit of eyeshadow and blush. I was buffled because I saw women using much more makep on their faces and looking amazing while I looked off using less than half of that makeup.
I finally realized why minimal makeup works for me...I am a freaking classic, lol. Also being light-Olive, with the triad “hooded-downturned-deep set eyes” has proven to be a huge challenge in this age of crazy makeup tendencies and drag techniques. I tried the makeup you recreated for “French style makeup” and I haven’t looked back since!!!
im a soft classic and even black eyeliner (especially in the typical modern cat eye shape) looks too harsh and misplaced on my face even though i wish i could look good in it. if i try to do any type of “glam” makeup i look like a drag queen (and not one of the pretty ones). ive come to the conclusion that korean/asian type makeup styles fits my face the best
I don’t know why, but I resisted being classified as Classic. However, now that I’ve given in, Aly has answered a lot of my nagging questions. Like “Why, despite my skill in following tutorials, do I look like a freak with anything more than a soft lip and fairly bare eye?!” I’m not going to change; I’ll just feel better about my “Look”! Thank you, thank you, Aly!! 💋❤️
I am not a pure classic, but that's the closest type for me and now I know why all my makeup experiments failed so horribly! Literally less is more on my face. Thanks for making those videos :)
Same here. I feel like I'm mostly classic but with a bit of ingenue coz I have a very small face and do tend to get mistaken as younger than my actual age.
This is so genuine! I think I'm a soft classic and everything you said is so true on me; too much eye shadow, blurred lips, bushy brows..... I ADORE those trends but they definitely don't suit me, I immediately look dirty and patchy. This is the most useful makeup video of all times for me! Thank you Aly ❤❤
@@starburst9053 same! That's why i never let anyone do my makeup anymore. Even if my mom wants me to find a makeup artist for my graduation, i won't be doing it.
I'm classic and just a months ago, i realized that using liquid eyeliner or a dark smoky eye didn't suit me. The sadness part is that im a mexican folkloric dancer and our makeup it's really colourful and intense, tried so many ways to do it, but always makes me look sad or like a clown
Awesome vid!! I did this makeup with making everything centered - no inner corner highlight or big outer wing, just balanced with a center highlight over my pupils.... long story short, i asked ny husband what he thought of my make-up and he just said "WOW". Thank you Aly so much!!!!!!
Unexpected surprise: So far, I've found that watching ALL of these "Make Up for *BLANK* Type Women" has actually helped me further confirm what body type I thought I was. Thank you, Aly!
Oh wow this is amazing. According to your videos I believe I am a classic type, maybe soft classic, and everything you said in this video is true. My face loves light/natural looking makeup. Every time I tried contouring/bronzer it just made my face look dirty. Your tips ring so true to me. Thank you so much!
Now it makes total sense why I can't wear too much makeup without looking like a drag queen! No makeup makeup look x muted version of classic 1940's makeup suits me best. Thanks Aly!
Great work. I’m classic and this is just perfect. I look best with subtle make up and the same colour on eyes and lips and cheeks is always good. I used to like playing with make up when I was younger but always felt uncomfortable wearing anything too noticeable. It just overwhelmed my face. These days I only wear minimal makeup on special occasions and its very simple, like your first look. It all has to be neat. And I realised watching this that over the years my hair has gotten closer to Grace Kelly’s! That bob just works on a classic.
I just found you a few days ago and I'm already a huge fan!!! I don't ever religiously watch particular youtubers, but for you I've made an exception! Thank you for being wonderful! I'm 25 and this is the first time I've ever felt like I understand makeup and this is the first time in quite a while I've felt good about myself. Thank you Aly!
Finally!!!! Been waiting for classics for sooo long. I loved all the tips and the whole series is just so informative in general. I really wish she gets all the hype she deserves. She's my favourite UA-camr. ❤❤❤❤❤🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thank you for doing these videos! I’m curious if you will just be doing the main types (romantic, classic, dramatic, natural, and gamine) or if you will be doing the “inbetween” types as well? I’m a theatrical romantic and would love a makeup video!
Sox Skybound I’d love a hairstyle series too! But I’d really love for her to include different ethnicities. I’m a soft classic and black and id love guidance on how to make more ethnic hairstyles like braids, twists and fros fit into that look.
I love how you hash out the basics! Basics are such a perfect foundation that once you master them you can also figure out how to 'break the rules' in a successful manner. Now if only I could figure out how the break the rules a bit lol.
I am just a classic - not soft or dramatic. I tried this technique & it worked. Thank you!! I used to use shimmer on my eyes to bring them forward from being deep set but it never looked right. This technique of matt grey in the crease seemed counter intuitive for me but the results are amazing. I am wearing the makeup and the makeup is not wearing me! Everyone said how nice I look.
Dewey's or matte skin; blend contouring very well not super rounded or sharp and angular illusion of real shadow under;no prominent cheeks and higher cheeks ; chin prominent ; no contouring is fine; a bit of shimmer is fine but not too much; bLanced brows fit the roots ; unplugged or bushy brows doesnt suit them; matte lip ; mascara: make lashline dark; from the roots ends thin; matte pink blush or slightly shimmery; black pencil between lashes ; little flick; uniform or monochromatic colors look good; dark brown on crease and lower lashline ; blended instead of sharp eyeliner ; from inner to outer corner ; neat and sharp lipstick; for smokey eyes blend eyeshadow on both sides pupil in the middle in a round manner ; overloading outercorner makes eyes more droopy
I definitely agree with no contouring. I could never figure out where to put it and finally realized just skipping it was fine. I want to try your suggestion for balanced eyes, bringing shadow all the way across as a deliberate style choice. I haven't thought of trying that. I do agree less is more with a classic!
A helpful reminder that classic simple makeup is best for SC. I was going to buy a shimmery palette of eye shadow, but now will reconsider and go with a matte one.
I think I’m a soft classic and I have always found that very blended, slightly minimal makeup looks best on me. I wore it this way even as a teenager in the 80’s because it felt right on me. Now that I’m almost 50, minimal is still best on me and I think less is more has become even more important as I age. I even my skin tone with foundation and concealer, fill my brows a bit, add a touch of blush, mascara and neutral or pink lip. That’s about it on a daily basis. Sometimes I use eyeshadows and contour but always very blended and with a light hand. I like your tip about making everything equal on either side of the pupil. You are so skilled at makeup!
You are right when I put a lot of makeup I look less beautiful Many people say that I am more beautiful without it What I learned from your videos I am dramatic classic Love your videos Thank you so much beautiful ♥️😘
I am Brazilian and I am so grateful now! I was searching for some videos about classic makeup and I found this one, thank u very much!! I have watched a lot times (and probably I will continue)
I was waiting this video for weeks now! For so many years I struggled and wondered why no other makeup style suits me more than a simple, vintage or korean/asian type makeup. Now I realise I am not alone and it's not only just my preference
I'm soft classic leaning towards soft gomene and have always wondered why I can't overline my lips without it looking clownish. Now I know. Thanks so much for explaining things so well. I love your channel.
My theorie why we can't experiment with make up: We are already so balanced that everything that would alter our facial features like overdrawn lips etc. will imbalance our whole face. Because of that a gamine who is a mix of opposites looks so good even if she plays with her make up and alters her proportions. I hope this sounds not smug but I think often the whole make up game on other body types is there to look more like a classic, meaning more balanced. Sometimes I would kill to be able to do more with my face, I feel so boring.
Thank you, I finally understand why I never looked good in heavy eyeliner. I have just naturally gravitated towards the makeup looks you did here. So now I am even more certain that I am a classic.
I have seen this comment on every video but now it’s my turn to say it... I am a Classic and this is exactly how I do my makeup!! Lol. My process with learning makeup was first learning how to use a lot, then learning to “edit” it back...
I've been struggling with this! Focus on any one area of my face didn't look good, nothing bold was flattering - and then I noticed I looked way better without makeup with just a tinted lipbalm which is great mostly, but that's not how I'd like to attend special occasions, really. A month ago, I realised I might have a classic face and now I'm scouring the internet for what suits me best. This is a real big help, Aly!
I'm almost 30 and in the last few years I arrived at the conclusion that all these makeup techniques you presented here are best suited for me. I didn't know I am one of the classics, most probably soft classic, but everything here makes so much sense now. Like why eyeliner looks too geometric or sharp on me and blended liner really makes my eyes pop. I do love other makeup styles and enjoy playing with them, but clean and put together like here is the best for me. And adding just red lips to that makes it suitable for evening.
I was so excited for this video. It was very helpful to learn we have to keep eye crease makeup balanced. I liked to do more on the outer corners to make my eyes look wider set but i dont think I will anymore. Thank you Aly!💗💄
Stunning! Perfect choices. The surprise for me (a classic) is that I have been doing my makeup in a very similar way to what you demonstrated. Turns out to be balanced -- not too much, not too little. Thank you so much!
You're utterly right, and it's hard to realize by yourself when you lacking experience in make up. I ended buying dozens of products that I never truly used because just don't fit me properly, and I always thought it was becausea I didn't know how to use them, thinking make up it's just not for me, liking myself more whithout make up, but still wanting to use it, until this method really helped me to understand how trends are not a good point of reference to work in yourself, the more I learn the more reliable I found this techniques and of course in the accurate Aly's understanding of it. Thank You Aly!
Nice video! Just a random thought...so many of the classics really do echo some of the older Hollywood starlets. January Jones reminds me of Grace Kelly (except when she wears the garish makeup- she looks like "Pris" Daryl Hannah in the older "Blade Runner). Rosamunde looks like Joan Crawford.
I swear I have been doing my make up like this for years! It took me a long time to learn what works for me, especially with all the trends! Great video!
Hey Aly! Would you ever consider doing a series about tattoos and colorful hair for the body types?? I'm pretty sure im a classic or soft classic and i like the style, but at the same time i absolutely love tattoos and alternative beauty, and i have no idea of how to suit that to me! I think it would be pretty insteresting since there is no material like that because tattoos and dyed hair are a more recent thing If anyone knows where to find guidance or forums about this please let me know PLEASE LIKE SO ALY SEES IT
Love this! Wish I had known about the body types years ago. I was always told to do either eyes or lips with heavy make up, but it never looked right. It's better when eyes and lips are balanced. Also, bushy brows and messy 'boho' hair look terrible on me 😂
As long as it's not messy or frizzy you'll look great! I also have thick curly hair :) oh and medium length with some layers is something Ally mentioned I think.
I think I'm a classic finally embracing my beauty (thank you, by the way ❤️) and it's amazing how some of your tips I kind of found them out before by myself, experimenting, (like contouring, I never liked how it looks on me; or eyebrows, I've tried both very thin and thicker than they actually are and both styles always felt weird on my face) but wasn't so sure about them, I felt really ignorant about makeup for not going with the trend and only going with what felt comfortable to me, but I thought it was because of my tendency to always go with neutrals in everything 😂. Now I am learning so much with your channel about beauty but about myself as well, I'm finally understanding why so many makeup, hair or clothes styles just didn't look right on me.
Thank you for this video, i am a soft classic and most of the time i go out with no makeup at all, i feel like my face doesn't need it.. For me its important just to keep my brows plugged as you said and sometimes i add a smooth eyeliner, mascara and a soft lip color and its enough.
I'm a soft classic and I prefer watercolor effect on my lips or a little bit of gradient from pink inside to natural colour outside of my lips. I also prefer a balance in make up all over the face. I mean, that if I add more lip colour I have to volume up all my make up - eyes, cheeks and everything. So that rules about red lips or only eye makeup, didn't work on my face
Thank you for this video. I have noticed before that I look weird wearing that (modern) heavy makeup with cat eyes and lot of contour, and now I know why. Anyway my everyday makeup is: dewy makeup (light cover), brows (filled but blended very well), mascara, sometimes invisible eyeliner on top lashes (just to add volume), cheeks and lips in colors matching to my skintone, also lightly applied and blended (I do blend also lipstick because it looks harsh on me if I dont). So really everything color matching, blended, soft.
As a Classic type woman, everything she said is completely true. Whenever I try to do a lot of color, sharp liquid liner, or a more “boho” hairstyle, it looks really wrong on me.
I à ma dramatic Classic . Now all you ve said about the lines applies to me except that I wear very dark and bright colors. Soft colors make me look fade. Thank you aly.
Thank you for the tips! I would think a stark winged eyeliner would be considered “classic”. I’m going to start focusing on darkening my lash line. The only problem I have is that eyeliners I’ve tried on the upper waterline always transfer to my lower eye area. I’m not used to creating winged liners with eyeshadows.
I think I'd be good if you talked about the equivalent shade colors for different skin tones. I'm not about to put dusty light pink on my lips. I'm black 😂. But yeah that'd be very informative 🤗
Zooplankton İk it’s not an exact science, more about identifying what mostly matches you. For example, I think I’m soft classic but I’m pear shaped and classics are meant to be symmetrical but other parts match. When I watch Aly’s example of different types I recognize the clothes that I know suit me and so does the makeup which reassures me I’m more soft classic than anything else.
At the end when Aly says "don't invent a new face with make-up," I immediately remembered Kevyn Aucoin, who's style and technique were all about creating a completely new face, using make-up.
Is it just me or does this feel like astrology?? I’m so glad I found this video. It’s so funny because sometimes I completely skip lipstick, and allow my natural lip color to show through with some chapstick. I feel I look my best that way. I thought I was just low maintenance.
Thanks, this was great! I made a few tests and I think I am Soft Classic. Funnily enough, I have been doing this type of makeup as long as I can remember (now better than 20 yrs ago ;-) )

I have a question about the kibbe test: what does it mean to be a natural type with a third part of the answers corresponding to the classic type?
Aly Art does this makeup works for Dramatic Classic as well ?
"Don't invent a new face on top of yours". Possibly the best advice I have gotten from all your videos. Thank you.
😭
I’m a soft classic and I always wondered why I look clownish so fast wearing heavier make up! It just doesn’t suit me. We’ll stick to time-less and neat, it might not be “trendy” at all times, but it’s beautiful. 😊💕
Same!
me too girl
Me too
Me too!
Same!!!!
Finally classic, never clicked so fast 😂
x x x ;))))))
omg yasss
You need to start a forum so we can submit photos and you can determine our body type because I can’t find out
I would love to join a Discord server for Aly
I support this idea💓
yesss! discord would be the perfect place
I would pay for that
I think there is a generic kibble subreddit, r/kibbe, where they do try to categorise people.
Dramatic Classic here. Exactly the same here :)
I agree. I'm a Pure Classic and could never understand went I couldn't pull off a smokey eye and bold lips.
Soft classic here. Yes, minimum is enough for me. Everything more is too much.
I have the same😁
Same here, and another dramatic classic 🙋🏻♀️
I finally realized why minimal makeup works for me...I am a freaking classic, lol. Also being light-Olive, with the triad “hooded-downturned-deep set eyes” has proven to be a huge challenge in this age of crazy makeup tendencies and drag techniques. loonafanclub Same. Have you seen Pony Syndrome's channel? She has some tutorials that are very minimal but look gorgeous.
We can't wear to much or too less.we look best in moderate makeup
+miyesh yes!! i love pony
loonafanclub me too.. zero fake lashes, nails, highlight... no for me..
Yes, I fully agree with you that Asian makeup looks the best on soft classic ❤
I don’t know why, but I resisted being classified as Classic. However, now that I’ve given in, Aly has answered a lot of my nagging questions. Like “Why, despite my skill in following tutorials, do I look like a freak with anything more than a soft lip and fairly bare eye?!”

I am not a pure classic, but that's the closest type for me and now I know why all my makeup experiments failed so horribly! Literally less is more on my face. Thanks for making those videos :)
I don't think most of us are pure any type. We have to find what we are closer too and use it as a loose guideline.
Same here. I feel like I'm mostly classic but with a bit of ingenue coz I have a very small face and do tend to get mistaken as younger than my actual age.

Yup totally agree I'm soft classic

Oh my god, mind BLOWN! That 'clownish effect' is so true but I never realized why it was happening to ME. Thank you Aly!

@@starburst9053 same! That's why i never let anyone do my makeup anymore. Even if my mom wants me to find a makeup artist for my graduation, i won't be doing it.

Greedings from Poland.

Ooh I can’t wait until you do theatrical romantic makeup. I always enjoy seeing the different looks for the different body types from you!
Hey Aly! Would you ever consider doing a series about tattoos and colorful hair for the body types?? I'm pretty sure im a classic or soft classic and i like the style, but at the same time i absolutely love tattoos and alternative beauty, and i have no idea of how to suit that to me! I think it would be pretty insteresting since there is no material like that because tattoos and dyed hair are a more recent thing
If anyone knows where to find guidance or forums about this please let me know
PLEASE LIKE SO ALY SEES IT
Omg yes I need that too. Exactly my problem thank god I am not alone with that. Pleeeaase Aly.
The way you shot this is stunning.
Love this! Wish I had known about the body types years ago. I was always told to do either eyes or lips with heavy make up, but it never looked right. It's better when eyes and lips are balanced. Also, bushy brows and messy 'boho' hair look terrible on me 😂
I am a soft classic but I have curly hair and hate straightening it... How to be neat with curly hair?
use a lot of conditioner and define your curls
As long as it's not messy or frizzy you'll look great! I also have thick curly hair :) oh and medium length with some layers is something Ally mentioned I think.
Love the way you describe everything... so professionally analytical :)
You are very good at what you do. Your suggestions made a big different in how I look.
I love watching your videos! You always look amazing, no matter what "look" you are creating. Thank you!
finallyyyyy! I was waiting for this!! 🙋🏻♀️
This is literally how I've been doing my makeup all these years! :-) I'm either classic or soft classic.
Love this! What are some examples of makeup on brunette classics? I would love to see these looks on someone with dark hair and fair skin. Thank you!
As a Classic type woman, everything she said is completely true. Whenever I try to do a lot of color, sharp liquid liner, or a more “boho” hairstyle, it looks really wrong on me.
I like it. I'm a classic and I always get compliments with clean makeup like this
I à ma dramatic Classic . Now all you ve said about the lines applies to me except that I wear very dark and bright colors. Soft colors make me look fade. Thank you aly.
Wow think I am a classic and this is what I do most of the time when I do my makeup, even the pink on the eyelids
Yay finally! I have been waiting for it :D
Thank you aly.. you are a great artist
I absolutely love your videos. Best I’ve ever seen.
SN here... Everything look on me over the top... I play with Lipstick and use lots of mascara
Thank you for the tips! I would think a stark winged eyeliner would be considered “classic”. I’m going to start focusing on darkening my lash line. The only problem I have is that eyeliners I’ve tried on the upper waterline always transfer to my lower eye area. I’m not used to creating winged liners with eyeshadows.
classic women are so stunning !!! i'm a romantic but definitely wish I were a classic !!!!
Aly, you are a treasure! Bless you and wish you the moon🦋
Hope you do one for flamboyant naturals, I love these videos
Beautiful. I will try your tips.
I think I'd be good if you talked about the equivalent shade colors for different skin tones. I'm not about to put dusty light pink on my lips. I'm black 😂. But yeah that'd be very informative 🤗
The effect is so beautiful. I can't wait to try it.
You said that defined eyelashes look good on classic. I have been wanting to do a lash lift or lash extensions, would that look good on this type?
Excuse me, but why do you look so stunning in that classic smokey eye look? Stunned!
I still don’t understand my type. Especially my faces type. I have no idea!
Zooplankton İk me too!
I am just watching videos and looking at the mirror and wondering 😆
I think you are cat
Harley Howl wow! It’s make sense 😆😆
Every time i think i have finally figured out my type there is a new video that let me doubt again:(
I feel so pretty... wow. Thank you! This will be my to to make up !!! Ahhhh I'm so excited
Rosamund Pike is 174cm tall which seems quite tall for a Classic?
Agreed, isn't she more of a natural? Or maybe she's simply a dramatic classic
I was thinking the same!
