I still like going massed condottiero in early imperial as though they are not quite as strong as champions, they have two very valuable advantages: 1. they are surprisingly fast (same base speed as woad raiders although non-celts condos are still slightly slower because of civ bonus) and 2. you don't need to research a billion techs like you need for champion.
Maybe 3. They are Anti-gunpowder units (?)

this was initially from the Byzantine latin voices. then they used it on the Italians. The Briton king and monks also speak in Latin when clicked and commanded.

Italians deserve some fix.
First I do not understand why they speak same language of Byzantines since historical it was not spoken Latin (if not by most acknowledged or Church) but starting from Humanism Era a sort of ""official"" Italian was spoken, and before that a folk Italic (primarily influenced by Florence, but not only) was used by any, from people to Literature.
Italians also deserve a buff as 'team bonus' since historically was the wealthiest Region and the most prominent in banking (they financed strong emperors, included Charles V and Frederic II). They also introduced the very first Universities in the World.
As a result they deserve coinage and banking for free (indirect team benefit), and a buff for Universities (like they cost no wood or cost half the wood and are built in half the time)
Well the university buffs I agree with, but don't you think the coinage buffs are kinda accurate since the Roman empire went to utter shit from the because of the barbarian attacks and whatnot ?
@@lick3227 the coinage buff makes sense because Italians (clearly based on middle ages Maritime Republics, Florence and the other Italic Comunes, not the Roman Empire) had a massive importance in banking, credits and finance (important banking families issued loans for emperors etc, besides there were important assurance companies, the Monte di Pietà etc). Not to mention the general welfare due to trades during the Rennaissance.

Tbh they should have also more Navy bonuses because of the great power they had (there was a timeframe in which Venice was the most powerful Naval force in the Old World), but it would start to be quite too much stuff. In fact I think they should make Venice as their own civ (Naval and Gunpowder Civ), separated from the Italians. At that stage there would be Sicilians to represent Normans and South Italy, Venice for Venice and Italians to represent the most other powerful cities in North/Mid Italy (Genoa, Florence, Siena, Milan, Ferrara, Parma etc etc)
