Shinedown is one of my all time favorite bands. They've been writing about mental health for almost a decade now, and before the current members joined, Brent wrote most of the songs himself about dealing with depression and his drug addiction. Their songs Save Me, Lost in The Crowd, Call Me, Sound of Madness, Monsters, Devil, Get Up are some of my favorites. They're really awesome people too. I've met them several times and they always listened to my stories about what their music meant to me and just welcomed me with open arms when I really needed it.
They are one of my favorite bands along with my husband's. We've been around since the first album-got to meet them (original members) and see them in a small concert venue. Their songs are therapy for us, Brent's lyrics seem like he wrote them just for me/us. I'm in the middle of editing my first novel and after I finished the first draft, I was listening to them one day. Call me came on and I was bawling like crazy bc they were describing my female main character to a T. Glad others have similar experiences and how comforting their music is.
Yes it’s about mental health. It’s the follow up to Dead ☠️ Don’t Die you reacted to already. Came out yesterday. They been recognized by the mental health association. So you were spot on. Off the album Planet 🌎 Zero. Everything that’s been happening since 2020. 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Nick. I have long been a Shinedown fan and especially Brent Smith (lead singer) after hearing him in an interview with a vocal coach where he said one of his main influences as a vocalist was Chris Cornell. He teared up talking about that and it only made me like and respect him and the band even more as Cornell is my GOAT.
They have so many great songs! I've met them a few times while shooting photos of their shows and meet & greet photos. (I'm a photographer for a radio station) super cool guys 🤘
Yea it is and this tour they had 1 dollar off every ticket go to AFSP and when one arena sold out has 15,000 seats they have raised 150,000 dollars and they were not finished with that tour yet
I KNOW!!! You did NOT compare Brent Smith with Adam Lavene (idk know if that is how his name is spelled and I don’t care) And YES!! Shinedown are big mental health advocates!! This next tour they are donating a dollar from every ticket to mental health awareness! Brent Smith has been through and lived through a lot and it helps us all who are there. Brent Smith is THE MAN!! ( “man” is not a term I use lightly)
Honey we aren't here for the video, we are here for Your reaction to the music❤ keep up the wonderful reactions and Thank You for making an old woman's day. God Bless❤
I'm not surprised that you liked his voice since you loved their cover of Simple Man. They are so awesome live....you have to treat yourself to that experience!
Personally, he sounds like the lead singer of Train. IMO they are trying to spread the word that things go wrong in life, and we all feel bad at times.....but it's all part of being human.
I don't know if you see comments on year old videos... but they just released a live version of this song and it's amazing. Hits me in the feels even more than this one.
Shinedown is by far my favorite band from their craziness with sound of madness to their gentle sound of this song is just an all around fantastic band to listen to
I love this song. I fully expected more thoughts on the deep lyrics. “Slightly awkward, kinda weird” smacks me so hard every time. And not belonging is a vibe we all get. The voice is so smooth and enjoyable. Good reaction (minus the phone silencing part).
You can’t be serious? 😂🙄🤡 Ummmmm his voice is adequate …..it’s a good voice but zero on anything spectacular. You need to listen to much more music if this is somehow the BEST ever. 😂🤣 Dimash? I could name 5 other singers way WAY better than this guy.
It’s great to see a persons reaction to something they have heard for the 1st time. I think you may of had a small teardrop coming out after you realized it was about mental health issues. I’ve never watched you before I’ll start though. I have been a Brent Smith fan since 2001. I see others have said you should go back, watch, & listen to some of his old stuff. I agree then you will see why the other comments of you comparing him to Avril Lavigne was a bad idea. Brent 100% has his own voice & shouldn’t be compared to any one else.
I just saw them 3 days ago and you could feel the emotion when they played this song. I've been listening for 20 years since their first album came out. I'm bipolar and have anxiety attacks and in concert Brent Smith always makes a point of telling everyone not to be ashamed and it just sparks something when afterward they play this
This song resignates with my life I get emotional listening to it the demons we fight everyday with just trying to get by with life it fits me completely.
You've always been slightly awkward, kinda weird Upside down and not all here What's a-wrong with me and you is crystal clear To me, the above is about that feeling of never quite fitting in. The feeling that the people around you don't really "get" you. And maybe don't really try that hard. Sometimes I'm in a room where I don't belong And the house is on fire and there's no alarm And the walls are melting too And this part sounds very much like a panic attack feels. That moment of "too much" that takes you from anxious into full-blown, make-it-stop terror.
Any Shinedown song is great. My all time favorite ban since they started. They definitely need to be part of the rock and roll hall of fame!
Oh they will just give it time.

Shinedown is my favorite! Their other work is just as profound. I'm glad you've now been introduced to them!

Shinedown is absolutely amazing!!!!
Brent's voice in this song reminds me of the lead singer of the band Train.
We all do have a WILD side! Are we all in need of being human?
We are all flawed!
Bless us all!
You should listen to his earlier music he writes awesome shit
No disrespect meant but No no no not Adam Levine 😮 Brent’s voice is all Brent
The way he sings “how bout you” is angelic. Gives me goosebumps.
CANNOT compare Brent Smith to Adam Levine. Please don’t!! Brent is an amazing vocalist.
Shinedown has been my favorite band for over 20 years. You should go back to their earlier stuff, and enjoy the journey through their catalog.
This song has given them 30 straight Top Ten SINGLES 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dead Don't Die gave them 30 Rock top 10s. ASOBH is an Adult Contemporary single.
Also, this song hasn't got the top 20, yet... it needs to, it is huge
the entire Plant Zero album is worth a listen

They have so many great songs! I've met them a few times while shooting photos of their shows and meet & greet photos. (I'm a photographer for a radio station) super cool guys 🤘
Brent has one of the best voices in rock. Adam isn’t even close to his ability
Yea it is and this tour they had 1 dollar off every ticket go to AFSP and when one arena sold out has 15,000 seats they have raised 150,000 dollars and they were not finished with that tour yet
You should try Sound of Madness, Monsters, and Second Chance by Shinedown. Great voice. Great Songs.
Plenty of other great Shinedown songs to go along with this one as well.
Brent has 1 of my favorite male voices!! This whole album is amazing! I got to see them live last month, and they put on 1 hell of a show!
I like how most people are like... I dont think this band is for me until they hear Brent's voice.
Oh my dear Lord, this song ….
I KNOW!!! You did NOT compare Brent Smith with Adam Lavene (idk know if that is how his name is spelled and I don’t care)

It's a brilliant song; the lyrics slay me. NOW...listen to Leave A Light On by Papa Roach. 😭
I'm not surprised that you liked his voice since you loved their cover of Simple Man. They are so awesome live....you have to treat yourself to that experience!

Hey fam. Great reaction my man.
You don't have to make the videos transparent. At least I haven't on any of mine.
love shinedown! seen them twice live, awesome shows
Mental Illness makes you feel apart, this group lets you know you are NOT ALONE!
My guy said, "I'll join ya I guess." That's what I'm talking about! Hope to see ya there my dude, and everyone else coming too!
I love this song. I fully expected more thoughts on the deep lyrics. “Slightly awkward, kinda weird” smacks me so hard every time. And not belonging is a vibe we all get. The voice is so smooth and enjoyable. Good reaction (minus the phone silencing part).
One of my other favs is "State of my Head" my fav part of the song is about 3/4 in..."can you hear me now.... " gets me everytime!!!
Brent is one of the best male singers of our time. Shinedown is f’n amazing and I’m a hardcore metal fan. 🤘🏻
And I sure hope you’re not claiming shinedown is ANYWHERE near metal let alone hardcore. I’m just done LMFAO
@@6Haunted-Daysthen why are you on a Shinedown video just to talk shit? 😆

Avril Lavigne was a bad idea. Brent 100% has his own voice & shouldn’t be compared to any one else.
I was lucky enough to see them in 2017 at a small venue in Michigan. It was very laid back & the entire band enjoyed themselves.
I just saw them 3 days ago and you could feel the emotion when they played this song. I've been listening for 20 years since their first album came out. I'm bipolar and have anxiety attacks and in concert Brent Smith always makes a point of telling everyone not to be ashamed and it just sparks something when afterward they play this
Shinedown is one of my all time fav bands...they are totally a rabbit hole to go down...just start at their beginning...watch the evolution!!...❤❤❤❤❤
Favorite of this past summer. Lyrics are excellent!
Funny this comes up. Just finished listening to a live version of simple man. God damn he has a powerful voice. Very underrated.
Listen to his story on his friend locked in room almost killing himself bro it will get u
This song resignates with my life I get emotional listening to it the demons we fight everyday with just trying to get by with life it fits me completely.
My man can sing. You and him
