Hey Ellen thanks for the tips and advice. I generally don't change out my Guitar strings I still record and play with incomplete notes until everything breaks. When I walked into Guitar store to have technicians re-glue my bridge and nuts, the guitar player notices it sounds muted and dull. Get your filthy hands out of my Guitar I never asked for new set of strings at the front counter I loved the sounds of rusted, dull strings. Mainly most guitarist I ran into are jealous because they couldn't find these good guitars. Changing strings is a waste of money, labor you could pay that with power, water, and car gas. Not a good idea to keep up to date your changing strings unless that employee in the guitar store is desperate to buy players fresh set. Such a waste of money, when chaos strikes you realized you should've spent on it creativity, investments, or saved it for your travels. Take care Ellen you're a good friend it's hard to find a type like you. I'd rather recruit nerds in my band because I entertained dull bass strings it's really special sounds. I do it all the time.

omg I feel so called out. I am horrible at changing out old strings. I had my newest guitar for 4 years and I only just changed them at the beginning of this year. The strings made my fingertips black, and people thought it was a classical guitar because of how muted it sounded. When I finally put new steel strings on it, it sounded 1000 times better and it rang out clear like a real acoustic guitar should lol
Lol no worries, I've definitely been guilty of going wayyy too long between string changes as well! 🙈 But you're so right - nothing is quite as convincing as when you finally do change out the strings and realize how much more awesome you sound! 😂
Hey Ellen So I changed my strings 2.5 months ago. I use a white pick and I notice it ha a black color build up on it. Not on my fingers just the pick. Is that just from playing or because the strings have worn? Thanks -Ryan
Hmm, I would venture to guess that the buildup from your fingers has started to coat itself onto your strings. Do you fingerpick a lot? Because you may be getting oils, dirt, etc. onto the strings and then when you strum with a pick (especially because it's a white one), it's rubbing off onto your pick. 🤔 You may not notice it with your fingertips yet, but if it continues to build up, it'll eventually rub off on your fingers as well. I'd suggest changing them out for a fresh set! 👍
Hi I am new to watching your channel and I was just wondering since I have been blind all my life I was just wondering how I can tell when it’s time to change my strings on my guitar?
If the guitar was like a floor model or something (like hanging on the wall at Guitar Center or something) then I would change out the strings for a better sound. But if you ordered it online and it came with strings on it already, they're likely brand new so you can play on them for a few weeks/months before you change them out. 👍 This will also give you a chance to research different string brands and types so you can decide if you want to upgrade them, etc. as you learn! 🤗

That's fine, but you might run into issues if you use nylon strings on an acoustic that's meant for steel strings. 🤔 Is your acoustic a classical guitar? Because then nylon strings would be perfect! 🙌 But if it currently has steel strings and you switch to nylon, not only will it be harder to change out depending on the brand of strings, but it can also mess up the current set-up so you'd have to set it up again for the new strings. 🎸
The common advice section applies to any guitar, including nylon strings on classical. 🙌 The more you play, the more often you should change our your strings to keep them sounding fresh and beautiful. 🥰
