    Perfect episode! Nascar motors and V12s are fun, but my favorite thing about this channel is how you guys aren't afraid of rust and snow! That moment when Stone says "Is that a covered bridge?!" 😃 speaks to something deep in all of us. I passed on a 403 Olds. because they had a reputation for head gaskets blowing. I think it was fixable now. Anyway, Stone do good. Everyone likes you. This is the best hotrod podcast ever. Don't lose the shop!!!!! BTW In 1977 a friend of mines dad had a 76 El Camino. Chevy orange engine. We pulled a 12 ft. U-haul trailer from Huntsville AL. to Daytona Beach FL. I was 17. The trailer was full of furniture and pretty much heavy. We unloaded the trailer, reloading with baby crib, stroller, pumpkin seat, kid furniture and checked in to the tallest,nicest hotel on the beach. After showering and walking to the liquor store, sitting on our balcony people were starting to drive on the beach ⛱️. After a few we went down to the truck, unhooked the trailer and got in line to drive on the beach. They had hippy vans with large speakers outside and it was a freaking 🎉 party. We were dumb redneck kids but we knew how to party.We were a day late getting back home. Takes time to sleep it off. Anyway the El Camino did great. The engine was darker when we rolled in but ran great. I've wanted one since that trip. FUN PARTY WITH HIPPYS.

Got a complete interior from the local junkyard for $40, drove it everywhere, across the USA from CO to PA and back, and sold it for $900. One of the most fun cars I owned, mostly because it scared the hell out of people. It'd chirp the tires shifting from 1st to 2nd. So much fun. Fantastic there's still some out there getting the love they deserve :)

    Kahn on King of the Hill says “an ElCamino isn’t a car, it is a way of life.” I think most car enthusiasts my age know what an El Camino is, at least if you are from SoCal these were pretty iconic in the 80s and early 90s. The car you’ve never heard of is the GMC Sprint, it looks like an El Camino, but has GMC badging instead of Chevy. I may have seen more than one, but only remember seeing one and thinking it was odd that it had sprint badges instead of El Camino badges.

    This episode put a big smile on my face but "Never heard of"? Who's never heard of an el Camino? Even non-car people know what they are!
    I love 'em. It's like having a Chevelle that you can fetch parts in. I've got two now ('71 SS454, T400, 12 bolt Posi and '68 327, 4 speed). I'll admit was not a huge fan of post '72 but this gen is starting to grow on me too. I recently saw one with aluminum slots and 275/60's on all four corners and with the huge flared fenders, it looked really cool.
    I think all years are under valued too. My '71 is worth less than half of what a comparable Chevelle would sell for. I keep my eye out for any that are for sale because I think someday as Chevelles get crazy prices, these cars will come up. I think I'll look for a /74 tp '76 now too.

      @@RaiderX948 what's funny is, in person, he was the same. The dinner gathering after the product showcase etc, I randomly looked at him, held up my beer, and asked you get bee? He held his up and said plenty. I then held up a small piece of my food and asked food? And he held up a smaller piece of his steak and replied plenty, and we ha a good laugh. My wife was of course confused lol. I did get him to sign my DVD copy of cannonball run. He's just as laid back in person which was refreshing.

    OMG you guys! My first car was a 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic. 350V8, TH350, 2 barrel. I got in some trouble with that car. I was the oldest and a first car with a V8 wasn't in the cards for my sister. She got a crappy Ford Escort. I miss that car, wish I had one, same year. My wife is not a fan of the El Caminos but I love them. Great episode you guys. Brought of a lot of memories of cruising in high school with my core friends. Whatever car we were in, we all ponied up for the gas and snacks. I destroyed the transmission from N to D burn outs and sold the car. Last I heard it was being converted into a race car. This was in 1987. I really enjoyed this video!

    At 26, Stone is one fandy hucker, and he will be missed for certain! In spite of those fugly old bumpers, I was always of the opinion that those A bodies were cool lookin vehicles. Watchin you sliding around snowy roads brings a memory to mind. 3 friends were in, 5 of us went skiing, 0 temps, 4wd pickup w/topper, 3 in back, shortcut because so cold, I was powersliding all the way home. All said it was the most exciting ride they ever had! I knew that truck, and I knew that shortcut!

    I noticed that car has AC under the hood but a non-AC dash. So the interior was probably swapped in. No way was that thing originally green with maroon interior! Headliner is off-white still.

    The reason we like utes in australia so much is that they are a regular car underneath, nothing like a pickup truck, but they are a tiny little 2 seater sports car type cab so they just feel awesome to be in. elcos should be way more popular than they are!

    • @lepus6511
      @lepus6511 2 дні тому

      They're extremely popular, only ones you can really find for sale nowadays are these 73-77s where I live. Even the gbodies are hard to find now (my first car, wish id kept it). I see an el camino on the freeway about once every 2-3 weeks probably and know about 10 parked around the city where I live. More likely to see an El Camino on the road than any other classic in my experience. Don't even see old Ford trucks much anymore

    After becoming paralyzed from the chest down after a motorcycle accident, and a history of Mitsubishi AWD Turbo cars, I bought a restomod 1986 El Camino with an LS1 and built 700r4. Installed a hoist in the bed and hand controls. Loved it. Favorite car ever. Rear ended someone 5 years ago. I'm FINALLY replacing it with a Holden Ute very very soon.

    @36:24 Thank You Tony! I was beginning to loose faith in mechanics on UA-cam. People have forgotten about moving the plug wires over one spot or the other. Watched a guy wrestle a distributer in and out 6 times trying to time his engine on here the other day. Either people don't teach younger guys this trick anymore, or they just don't think about it. A lot easier than pulling the distributor.

    Gonna miss you Stone, hope you're successful in whatever you do.
    Tooling around in that El Camino reminded me of riding around in the 1970 Caprice 4 door with sm blk 400 and TH400 transmission (0-60 in 7 secs flat, posi rear end, dual exhaust in a 4800lb car). 0-80 in snow while actually only moving 20mph was a common thing, my stepdad was a hot rodder at heart. Same thing in the '72 Caprice with same setup, split pea soup green (the '70 started life with that color, got repainted marina blue on top side after someone smacked us, only got enough money to paint the outside skin, inside door frames, under trunk and hood lids stayed green, kind of a Seahawks car without trying).
