I wish my future wife could have your face🥀
No Rocky wasn’t A convict, but he did shake people down for A mobster. Part of the reason Mickey didn’t want him around in the first movie.
@@superbotpops Thirsty???
i agree with your overall analysis of this Creed movie 100%. loved the movie! very emotional and very personal
Also I think Dame is more mad about Adonis not reaching out and Feeling abandoned
agreed. they both looked very hurt at some points during their fight.
@@jaikens2958🤡
It wasn’t Adonis fault completely tho
@@jaidenroberts05 🤡
@@jaidenroberts05I think it was Adonis fault. He knew Dame went to prison, it’s your job to reach out to your brother when he’s down. The letter Mary Ann hid is not an excuse for Adonis not to reach out.
I think this film gives an accurate account of how some men deal with trauma and tension amongst each other. Throwing hands isn't the only solution but sometimes the best solution and MBJ depicted that well in this movie.
It's so cool that Michael knew exactly how to direct the sequel the way Sylvester knew how to direct the first Rocky sequel. This is a very special franchise and they both created this really special world of Underdog perseverance
I’m glad they finally acknowledged Apollos other kids. That was something that always irked me about the other two films.
should have shown them
the first one sort of did when they said he was the youngest child
They were alluded to in previous films, namely the first one when Adonis is referred to as the “youngest biological child”. I don’t think would’ve added anything really to the plots of the first two, as those stories are so much more focused on Adonis’ burgeoning career & romances, as well as his dynamic with Rocky. But I appreciate this one for outright acknowledging them and hinting at where Adonis stands with them. Maybe it’ll be something they can explore more in a sequel somehow.
For a first-time director, Michael B. Jordan does a very good job, notably in the film's handful of fight scenes, understanding the ballet of the match.
"How did Dame get 18 years for simply pulling out a gun?"
California. That's how lol
The way Dame's character transitions from being fresh out and the prison mannerisms, into a straight killer is masterful. Ain't no threats homie 😊
Dame probably got more time for fighting. If you fight then it's more time added.
he really got into the role. The accent, choice of artist's music to come out to, was all very true to the area the character was from.
@@SpiceofLifevarietythey mentioned Dame had a few previous charges. LA used to have the 3 strikes law, that put a lot of kids in jail for life over misdemeanor crimes. I'm sure Dame did fight in prison, but he and Donnie had to survive in the group homes and detention centers
What really got me in this movie is that during the training montage, how much Michael B. Jordan began to look like Carl Weathers. I think the mustache sold it. For me it was a nice, subtle shout out to Apollo.
Congratulations Mary for “going the distance”! 👏🏼🥊
She has not only a Burning Heart, but the Eye Of The Tiger as well. ❤🔥🐯🤘
@@SilentBob731watch out, with all that flattery she's gonna fly now 😂
@@Teddy-zr8yv She's rising like a spire, and has the unmistakable fire... 🔥😁
Thank you!!
Mary a fighter
Honestly Mary, this is something i don't think you would understand coming from Australia. Black youth especially in the hood could be in prison for life for a crime they may not even committed so Dame's story is alot more common than you would think especially in the hoods of L.A.
To top things off LA used to have the 3 strikes law in the 90's. So kids could be caught up in petty crimes and on the 3rd strike be sent to jail for life
@@bigb2494thank you for saying that for her to say both Dame and Adonis should have left the past in the past is another thing as an Australian she wouldn't understand, holding on to our past is the reason why we has been able to survive living in racist a$$ america
@@antoineporche-rideaux4841📠
Wtf ????
I'm from that place, and you're gaslit.
That classroom scene pissed me off so much. That's literally how teachers react to getting physical with a bully.
Love the reaction, and I wanted to lend a little bit of American perspective: when Mary kept being like "so he shot him" re: Dame and Leon...nah. Damian, being young and black in early '00s America, would have never seen the light of day again if he had shot someone. In America, some states hit you HARD for even possessing a firearm, depending on your priors. California and their three strikes law is especially infamous. So yes, Damian got locked up for 18 years because of his prior record, even having a gun, and being black. Fucking tragic but oh-so-believable.
This one was my favorite as well. It was hard for me to watch cuz I could really relate to Donnie. I grew up in a household where I was constantly terrified of my stepfather. Like Donnie, it drove me to be a super overachiever. Being successful allowed me to feel like that part of my life is dead and buried. Like Donnie, it still bubbles up from time to time and all I can think about is what I would do if I were standing face to face with him right now. It's extremely difficult to talk about because I want to keep that kind of rage completely separate from my relationship with my wife.
"I don't like how they taunt each other" "I don't like how they boo..." Mary, plenty of athletes thrive off the trash talk from their opponents. They really don't take it personally.
The words come after the fight. Words before can be lined with lies and deceit as you saw in the beginning. This has and probably will always be our way of working things out. Best thing to do is pick up your hands but so many are quick to pick up a weapon.
The final fight is a thing of beauty. MBJ’s anime influence is showing. Drago needed a much bigger and better written role in this
I am
Still hoping for a Drago solo film!
Missed their opportunity with Dame vs Draggo
lol anime influece. The guy watches just as much of a variety of media as anyone else. He likes anime, his life doesnt revolve around it. You people really love to latch on to shit.
@@stevenhernandeznon-profitf968 Last I heard they were really trying to get it off the ground.
@@ClaudioTheCrowing109 I hope so! My big question is how will they believable have Drago be in danger or be challenged? He would need to overcome a crippling injury or have his father at risk of some kind
I guess it is not so uncommon to have muliple strokes. My grandmother had to go to the Hospital because of a stroke. While she was in there, she had a second stroke, we were called to come to say goodbye. She was lying in the icu, barely alive. After two days, she was out of the icu, joking and laughing with the doctors. We thought she is fine and might come home in a few days, but the next night she died because of a third stroke....😢
creed 2 had a delted alternate ending where creed and drago have a heart to heart but they took it out but i loved it. im glad they used that idea in this movie. it was great.
The funny part about the lines addressing Dame being older is that MBJ (36) is actually older than Jonathan Majors (33).
The Creed trilogy has low-key been an excellent exploration in masculinity and this film drove it home almost flawlessly.
This film was so precious and Michael bea😂t Jordan did such an amazing job directing this on part with Sylvester doing his amazing job when he did such an amazing job being an actor director and producer of this amazing franchise
I have a lot of sympathy for dame (he definitely went about it the wrong way, but that was a big theme of movie not communicating with words), and I honestly dont' see why he was any less deserving than rocky or adonis for a title shot.
This is definitely my favorite of the Creed movies. Mainly because of how personal it was 🔥
for me creed 1 still the best it felt abit more flesh out story wise and had great fights and shots i give it a 9 or 9.3 creed 2 was dark and had alot familly ties and unsettle scores i give it 8.4 to 8.5 creed 3 the most personal 4 adonis alot of reflection to self reflection i think this had the best fights and personal to deep rooted issue with men period amd how to resolve i give this 8.6 to 8.7 great reaction salute to u maryyyy cheersss..
Damian might have been a felon, but remember Rocky was a Loan Shark enforcer lol. I've seen Damian's fighting style before. It's called 52 Block (or Jailhouse Rock). Its an American prison fighting style which uses elbows, enhanced blocking, and "peek a-boo" footwork and punching.
27:07 he isn't his brother, they were just good friends
I wish more scenes were edited in where you were just watching and absorbing what’s happening. You’re literally talking the entire video.
Hey Mary! Great reaction! While watching this movie initially, I felt a little guilty that I didn't miss Rocky being in this movie. I just didn't see a place for him. If they could come up with a Creed equivalent of the Rocky theme, it would be better than trying to work in the old music. That was Rocky's jam.
I love this movie..if I had to rank them Creed is still my personal favorite then Creed lll and Creed ll. Can't wait to see what Micheal B. Jordan does with Creed lV
I was honestly on Dame's side and felt that the last fight wasn't as satisfying as I wanted it to be. Creed benefited from the fruits of being a rich person and completely ignored Dame. Not to mention, he also pretends like nothing happened when Dame re-entered his life and is sort of apathetic to the fact that this man just lost 18 years of his life and his potential career because of something he started.
I just want to say that Adonis holding things in and not telling his wife is very typical. I'm not saying it's healthy, but as men we don't want to burden other people with our pasts or problems. We feel You shouldn't have to carry our past with you too.
Which is why we don't live long lives. Holding things in coupled with refusing to go get checked out at the doctor
One thing you need to understand dame had a chronic case of being black, in that day and age they hit you hard AND no one cared enough to do anything about it
Lola waited until the training montage to take a bath
Amara is one of my favorite parts of this movie
20:29 everytime i look at that scene,i think of my dad,as he passed away in November, a few months before this movie came out.
Glad she recognized the Rocky music.
20:22 that scene made me cry so much when u started crying it managed to make me cry aswell
22:52 I feel the same way about this film, I love it the most out of all the Creed films! It really gave us a good glimpse into Adonis’s past and Damian was such a damn good villian, he’s like Clubber Lang except you actually feel for him a bit tbh. The fight scenes were incredible and the family bonding is just so wholesome, this movie didn’t disappoint me honestly, I did miss seeing Rocky a bit, would have been pretty cool if we got to see him make at least a small brief cameo, but other than that, I love this damn movie.
Glad to see u react to this film mary alot of folks havnt on YT. But i also agree about this one being my fav out of the creed films
24:25 you can get charges while locked up
I love your reactions, your nose can run on my sleeve any time 😂
I feel like when I heard about this movie first, they were saying it would be a departure from the the first 2 Creed movies, but to be honest this one feels the most like a real deal Rocky movie, more so in the structure of it, and the personal battle with Adoins and Dame, I kind of get the feeling of it's a mix of rocky 5( Not my personal favorite of the franchise, but a rocky movie none the less) with Adonis taking dame under his wing at first, but ultimately got used, and a little bit of Rocky 3, with parallels to clubber Lang and Rocky/Adonis's retirement, Dame being similar to Clubber in that he just comes out of nowhere, is more of a brawler/street fighter type with a devastatingly hard style and becomes champ quickly, but I like how they spun it as his childhood friend, someone he was like a brother with, and therefore a more personal fight, as opposed to Clubber just being some random guy. I don't think it's a bad thing, because it's paying respect to what came before, even if Rocky himself is absent, and still being it's own thing.
Fun fact in the final fight when dame came out to the ring with no robe Mike Tyson did that in his ring intro’s
This movie almost made me cry.
You kickbox Mary? It's a great way to keep your heart healthy even if you never want to hit anyone. Can be tough on the joints mind you, but not much worse than jogging on concrete streets.
Believe it or not, they actually did a comic book continuation of Creed and Adonis's daughter grew up and became a fighter just like her dad
was she deaf in the comic bc she definitely wouldn’t be able to irl…
@@chance757 Yeah, she's still deaf in the comic books. The comic books are taken place 10 years after Creed III.
Plus I heard they might release an animated TV series of creed tho
Creed 1 (2015) is still my favourite
They also have 3 strike laws in some states where you get tougher sentence if it’s your 3rd offense
Been waiting so long for this reaction I was mad I had watched it before you
He's a young black male, I'm surprised they only gave him 18 years. I used to work in the Prison system. They give young black males with gun charges life without blinking an eye. Our skin color is considered an offense in America. That's my opinion of course. But I am a black man after all. And thats my experience.
I won't teach my kids how to start fights, but I will teach them how to finish them. No quarter.
If he had responded to those letters, they could have talked it out. The dude was locked up. It's not much he could do. If creed didn't snap Dam wouldn't even pull out the gun and got put in jail. Both characters struggled with this & I regardless of both, was wrong. Dam shouldn't have had a gun, though. Both were kids, & I think 10 years is a little much for what happened. It was a cool movie though
I think they said Dame had prior convictions, which is why he got a longer sentence (in his case 16 years). Then he got an extra two years tacked on for misconduct while he was in prison.
So the best I can surmise is Dame went to prison for:
Second Degree Attempted Murder (Since it wasn't premeditated)
If you are convicted of second-degree attempted murder, meaning your attempt wasn’t deliberate and premeditated, you could face a sentence of 5, 7, or 9 years in a California state prison.
Unlawful firearm possession
Unlawful firearm possession can result in up to $10,000 in fines and up to 3 years in jail
NOTE: When minor in possession of a firearm is charged as a felony the defendant may face up to sixteen months, two years, or three years in jail. (Not sure if they add these together or just call it three years for these two)
Evading an Officer (Assuming he did try and run)
As a misdemeanor, evading an officer carries a possible sentence of up to one (1) year in county jail as well as a fine of up to $1,000.00 dollars.
If he had a criminal record before that the judge might be inclined to give more time, especially if they were on probation of any kind.
Plus I think Dame states he got more for bad behavior while locked up.
Still kind of low by my estimate but maybe I'm missing something.
MBJ's directorial debut is great and one for the ages.
It does strike a chore with having 'Unfinished Business' in our lives.
How far you go in what you do is one thing.
But it's what you leave behind that matters.
Jonathan Majors as Adonis' childhood friend, Damien 'Diamond Dame' Anderson is incredible.
His grit, arrogance, pain and power are deeply felt.
The training he undergone for the role is crazy focused.
I can't believe his career has gone down almost in smoke.
This movie was filmed with IMAX technology.
So I saw it in IMAX as it deserved to be seen
Every fight is leaps and bounds ahead of what's been done before.
The mastering of the sound and picture needs major compliments.
The best-ever opening weekend for a sports film.
As an third installment, it lives up to every bit of hype it had.
Mila Davis-Kent as Amara Creed was adorable and the moments of signing with her parents are so tender.
Joseph Shirley's original score and the soundtrack by Dreamville with J. Cole is a must have.
This story of this sequel is very substantial with the growth of the characters.
We all assumed what this installment would've been and it went into a much better direction.
Pretty sad how you view Dame honestly. Adonis was the one that beat a man to a pulp, Dame just showed up and flashed a gun and yet he’s a demon in your eyes while Donny is a saint. Dame needed someone and was completely abandoned, how could he not be resentful?
Have to say I just found your channel the other day due to your jay and silent Bob videos and gotta say really good content as well i have to say your very beautiful
i think this might be my favorite creed movie also
Rocky was an ex-con he worked for a loan shark and has a record. It’s nothing worth bragging about
Rocky was NOT an ex-con. I don't know where you got that from, but it's not in any of the movies. He was a collector for Gazzo but that's all. The "nothin' worth braggin' about" line in "Rocky II" does not support this in the least.
@@ConstantineFurman ua-cam.com/video/m8safvFFjsc/v-deo.html it’s crystal clear he asked Rocky “Do you have a criminal record” Rocky’s Response “ nothing worth bragging about!” Cmon Rocky was an enforcer for a loan shark in Philly
Mickey called him a bum who became a leg breaker for some hood
I think Mary’s next boxing movie reaction should be The Hurricane (1999) featuring Denzel Washington
YESSS FINALLYYY
I stg creed 2 get me everytime 😭😭
This movie was good love the video Mary stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
My order is in order.
Creed
Creed 2
Creed 3
I like this movie but there is a lot of blame going around that ultimately lands with Dame and I don't think it should. Dame feels angry because he feels abandoned by his brother for the 18 years he was in jail. He felt abandoned because Mama Creed hid his letters from Adonis and she shouldn't have. Dame pulled the gun in the first place to try and protect Adonis because he couldn't control his anger and started beating Leon nonstop. Dame loved Adonis so he would have been fine getting locked up for his brother as long as he felt his brother was still there for him all that time. I don't think there would have been a good way out for Dame in that situation at all other than if Adonis had just let Leon go. Because he pulls the gun he goes to jail, he's a golden glove winner so if he goes in to help Adonis without the gun he still goes to jail because his hands would be considered deadly weapons anyway. I think people are wrong and are just trying to comfort Adonis. He IS in fact partly to blame because he created the situation in which Dame with to jail. He DOES in fact need to figure out how to make that right to himself and Dame and move on. But to say he holds no blame is not correct in my opinion.
HIT THE LIKE! This is one of Mary's best reactions. What ya'll waiting for? Lol
You look beautiful and your hair looks great
creed 3 is by far the best in the series michael b jordan great actor one hell of a director
Mary, Dame is Black in America, they put him away for 18 years probably because he had two previous "strikes", and sometimes it's done out of spite.
@Mary Cherry if you think Boxing is dangerous, watch MMA is even more violent.
Agreed. I think this is the best one.
The Rumble in the Jungle that the ticket was for was George Foreman vs Muhammad Ali
Sylvester Stallone is currently writing a new Rocky film, which he has publicly already talked about in interviews. For when it will be finished who knows.
23:05 Yes, because you have no understanding of the Rocky saga.
KANG THE CONQUEROR VS KILLMONGER
That was the first thing i said when the trailer dropped and all that yk lol
This movie is good and it makes sense if you think about it
I enjoyed the same like the first 2 Creed movies, I hope Rocky will return in the next sequel..
Creed 2
Creed 3
Creed 1
That's the order for me.
For me...
Creed 1
Creed 3
Creed 2
Creed 1 is one of the greatest movie ever made.
His mum died on the third creed film and Micky died in the third film
22:00 context California gun laws since the 90s are intense, unregistered fire arms carry heavy jail time plus added on time surviving the worst prison system in America add on black teenager already in the system from foster care you get this result. A jaded adult going to war with his brother it's not a uncommon story in the states.
This is the closest we’ll ever get to Killmonger vs Kang.
Also, rest in power Nipsey Hussle. Grinding All My Life is an awesome track.
No understanding of men whatsoever, used to it these days.
Mate, don't just throw something like that out - are you talking about Mary? About yourself? Given your avatar it would be weird to throw out a misogynist comment, and even weirder if YOU are a woman. Oddly, it's hard to understand people if they keep all their feelings and motivations bottled up, and that applies to everyone. Mary says she thinks it would be better if we were honest, and she's right.
Well we are two different species of human beings and we don't understand y'all either
@@rashadwalker8218 Two different species? No, not even slightly accurate. Understanding people takes practice, it isn't easy but it's nowhere near impossible.
Regarding the jail sentence, I can't remember what year specifically this was set in, but there was a period in American law when there was a huge preference towards mandatory minimums for gun crimes. If you had a gun and were committing a felony, even if you never used it, showed it, etc., it'd result in years in prison, minimum. Combine the priors with the gun and the fact that they both ran away (which constitutes resisting arrest) and 18 years is believable. It wasn't right, but it is believable.
I just binged your Rocky/Creed videos over the past few days. I actually havent seen Creed 3 until just now through here. I shall put my personal ranking for the series here:
9. Creed
8. Creed II
7. Creed III
6. Rocky IV
5. Rocky II
4. Rocky Balboa
3. Rocky
2. Rocky V
1. Rocky III
I know nobody will agree with my list but thats the beauty of opinions. Universal rankings are boring
Talking about your feelings only works for girls. Guys want apologies and behavior modification.
You judge Dame but he took the heat for Adonis after he recklessly hit that man. Dame just wanted his friend to check up on him but instead his friend took his dream and never looked back. I was for Dame all movie and i understand he did things a bit wrong but 18 years aint easy.
13:39 my favorite shot in the movie
This is America.. you get 70 years for spitting at a cop...
It's a great triology overall: I got it Creed I, Creed III, Creed II (but it's all close)
In L.a you can do up 20 years for an illegal firearm
Great reaction I totally agree what you said about the movie I don’t know if they’re gonna do a four but they should do a Creed four and I think because of what happened to Drago in this movie should give him a decent shot time. I don’t know if they wanna let him win or cause I have heard the same thing about them doing that Drago series the movies later, talking about it where he came from where his family came from but I think he deserves a decent shot and creed four that might be how he retires to let Drago win Broadway to rock in the next movie he wasn’t necessary, but checking on him next Movie. I know they had a problem, the owner of the franchise and him, even though he started directed it and then wrote Rockies all the six rocky movies he didn’t produce it. The producer owns the franchise so I would like to see Rocky and Creed four he was his best Rocky for he come back and Creed for even if he dies from the cancer I don’t want him to die but if he’s gonna Die somehow we do Rocky three we have two fights the first Drago fight Adonis loses, and when Rocky dies and then later in the film, Adonis wins the second time I don’t know just ideas thanks for the fun until next time
Very awesome reaction like always! Hope you are doing okay Merry Cherry, the bruised inner elbow and how your arms appear to be thinner, and what looks like very sunken eyes, sorry if I'm over analysing, just hoping you're okay mate :) ✌🏻🤗
this movie has so many anime references like them punching each other at the same time are from goku and vegeta in dbz and also obito vs kakashi especially the empty arena scene
I heard that a Drago spin off is in the works
The Drago spin-off waa going to happen, but big problems...
I get the impression tha Leon wasn't an adoptive dad. He was a worker in the orphanage, or an older resident with more power. As for which Creed was best,, I agree that this was was the best, though the first hsd the hardest hitting moments.
I'm pretty sure they said he ran the group home
Somethimg that’s confused me is what the implication is when Mary Anne said she knows Leon, and why Adonis brought up Mary Anne’s other kids right after that. Was the implication that Leon was actually Adonis’ half-brother (that maybe was estranged from the family, hence why Adonis hadn’t seen him since the group home)?
Enjoy your channel love its awesome but on this one we were discussing you were talking just a little too much and talked over key scenes..but youre awesome just tone the talking down a little :)
The only thing I didn't like about this film is they didn't flesh out, Dame more. I wish we would've seen more fights after his first win & more of him stunting as a big-time boxer.
This movie when I saw it in theaters it was definitely 10/10 for me 🥊🥊💥💥
Mary, they don't fight 15 rounders anymore. It's been cut down to 12 rounds. That's why "Rocky Balboa" was only 10 rounds cause exhibition fights are 10 rounders now. It's also why Rocky didn't knock Mason Dixon's punk ass out--everybody knows Rocky doesn't really get started until like round 12. But yeah, no more 15 round fights.
I love all the Rocky And Creed Films. But Creed 3 is probably my favorite because it really added so much depth and insight into how Adonis's life could've been like had it not been for Mary Anne. He's an incredibly flawed but good hearted man. Mary Anne is just an amazing woman. She saved Adonis's life. Even though it's unfortunate that Apollo's two other kids never accepted him, but Mary Anne took him in as a young kid even after Apollo's secret love affair with his mistress, which was wrong and how raising Adonis as her own son helped her to forgive her husband. Her passing emotionally broke me. 😢💔
Just an absolutely beautiful yet purely heartfelt movie. ❤😢
