Asuka: Playing the single player game without even a need to watch his opponent. Slayer: If he doesn't fuck up I can't do anything, and I must do it perfectly when he does, or else.
Gobou is so inspiring as both a player for me, and as an Asuka user. It's as if everytime I watch him play, he is implementing new strategies and changing his playstyle with Asuka ever so slightly - which I find refreshing. At first, I was a bit worried about the state of Gobou's Asuka after what he mentioned during his last broadcast, but it appears that he is still committed to enhancing his Asuka gameplay in season 4 - and is utilizing system mechanics like WA to continue playing "Solitaire" with his opponent. Moreover, despite Asuka having been confirmed to be both weakened in some areas - while also being "Shadow Nerfed" in season 4 - Gobou is doing a fantastic job at managing his resources and ensuring the Mana gauge does not run dry - this is especially impressive in the face of an 8:2 match-up like Slayer - who commonly depletes the Mana gauge/or breaks the Mana Barrier with ease. What I find a bit comical, is how some Slayer users are acting as if Slayer was severely nerfed - when you can see in this replay - the Slayer adjustments have essentially no negative impact on his huge advantage vs. Asuka; as even someone of Gobou's caliber is having a bit of a hard time winning consistently, when Bushin is no TY (the best Slayer in Asia). Furthermore, as talented as Gobou is with Asuka, it's no wonder some people are assuming Asuka was severely nerfed in season 4 based on the patch notes - but at the same time - believes he is actually "fine" as far as character strength/tier placements go (Some are placing him in A tier in season 4, or 1 tier from the top). This sentiment from these individuals simply ascertains that Asuka will forever be their tower/bracket demon - because they never took the time in training mode to learn proper Asuka countermeasures - and are basing their opinion on fighting other Asuka users and/or how hard his pressure "looks" to defend against. As I have said before, even if Asuka were to be nerfed to bottom tier - these players would still fail to pass the knowledge check, and deem the character as strong, due to their lack of understanding of said character... In short, the opinions of Asuka and non-Asuka users regarding his character strength/potential has the biggest discrepancy I've seen of any character - with the reason(s) primarily being theories/assumptions, rather than facts on the non-Asuka players side - and due to the extreme disdain some have for this character - some tend to indulge in what is called "selective reading" when determining what information they want to accept or reject about Asuka... Last, I do hope that Gobou will grace the AWT finals stage with his amazing Asuka gameplay once more, but only time will tell...
The ppl complaining about Asuka have never fought a good Asuka, a majority of the playerbase isnt even mildly decent at the game. So what they are really complaining about is what they see on this channel not what they regularly experience.
Even if someone isn’t an amazing asuka, as long as they are half decent with him and know what they’re doing, asuka is easily top 3 most annoying characters to deal with as he forces you to sit there blocking for a minute straight before you get to do anything about it
@MrCowShed you cant make someone block for a minute straight as a half decent asuka. Again i should know, ive fought many in celestial and a majority cannot replicate this.
I think that ppl complaining about asuka should be those who hasn't touched the guy or even bought the dlc I have a friend who is an asuka player. He at least knows the basic gameplan of the character and rotate the spells quite fast and that is enough to beat me (yea i suck). Then when i bring asuka to lab, it's a terrible experience. The guy is to complicated, it's not just about use the spell then draw the new card from the empty slot, you have to recover mana, discard the uneccessary spells, etc. So yeah, it's called "with great skill execution comes great advantage".
@@tire_iron488Slayer is one of the easiest characters in the game, so he is not all that complex. Moreover, I hate to put personal experiences into this, but I regularly face pretty strong Slayers users, and went even with some Slayer players featured on this channel in Celestial - so I believe that I do understand and know how to play against the character. Also, Gobou the strongest Asuka, and one of the best players in the world made this statement regarding Asuka vs. Slayer, *"Slayer's fighting style, offense, and defense (HP) are so strong, that it's not worth the risk/return for him to cast a single spell."* Just about every high level - pro player knows that Slayer is one of Asuka's worst match-ups - it seems that there is a lack of proper Asuka counterplay on your end I'm afraid, so the match-up appears to be hard... No offense, but all I have to say is that training mode will be of great assistance for you, as Asuka is one of the biggest knowledge check characters in the game...
I always dislike how Slayer got so sooo much damage with just a few hits in this matchup but when I take a step back at how long Asuka string is (if bullet cards keep coming) perhaps this is a way how dev view the characters and decide if they'll buff or nerf Anyways I just hope that the game won't turn to be like that one game (I couldn't recall the name) that players will only play neutral the whole time until one slipped and died in a single combo 😅
Asuka will just throw cubes at you until you start wondering why you're here, the only thing you have to guess is your purpose to being on this universe
One character has to sweat at a super-human speed to get the job done. Meanwhile, the other character presses a few buttons and wins. Kinda unpleasant to watch.
Honestly? This isn't even a great way for Asuka to play this matchup. He's spending way too much of his own life to maintain this offense. A more calculated, traditional approach would benefit him more.
As much as I understand that the character is difficult to learn and execute, I have no sympathy for asuka players when he literally gets to put you in a 10-15 second blockstring and the optimal option against it is just to block until the asuka player fumbles or rolls bad
There are way less good Asuka player than Slayer. Getting beat by Asuka either you're don't want to learn that matchup bcs how annoying he is especially bcs u also need the knowledge of that character or you're just facing a good Asuka player.
Goddamn asuka is so boring to watch and play against/with. Pressure into super to get game winning spell combo, and if u fail u get popped and there is almost no way of coming back cause of mana.
5:35 that's why this super has two versions, lol
Gobou: time for some Yu-Gi-Oh and touhou.
bushin:guess I'll play block then.
Asuka: managing his mana, changing decks, drawing spells perfectly to win.
Slayer: HAHA PILEBUNKER, SO DANDY
ALSO MAPPA HUNCH, EVEN DANDY-ER
Asuka: Playing the single player game without even a need to watch his opponent.
Slayer: If he doesn't fuck up I can't do anything, and I must do it perfectly when he does, or else.

Could you explain what you meant by "shadow Nerfed" please?
I always appreciate your posts on asuka, as someone who doesn't play the character! he seems sick, but makes my head spin
Are you surprised how much he uses test case 3? Everyone told me after the patch the test case three was not viable anymore
Thanks for the summary, was the broadcast you’re talking about translated?
@nottoday4195 everyone generally got stronger this patch. Asuka didn't really do that. Making him weaker by comparison

@@MrCowShed This is incorrect due to RNG, Match-Up Test Case knowledge and personal aspects of the player.
Gobou barely doing mix and the opponent still fumbling this hard is so funny to me.
Slayer players are too obssesed with finding an opening to mappa to ever play good neutral or defense

How does Slayer go into PRC after Pilebunker? Wouldn't it be a red roman? here 5:30
He just roman canceled in the recovery frames rather than the active ones. You can do it with just about any move as any character.

can asuka really do nothing about k mappa hunch>2p?
It’s spacing depending. Sometimes it’s plus so they can’t
