Yeah at the previous place I lived there was a big ant problem. Sometimes a bunch of huge ants with wings would come out and perch themselves on the wall. That's apparently mating season or something. I tried to get rid of them via g3nocide 😂 but there was always an infinite number it seems. If it's just a small number I usually ignore them and let them do their thing. I actually like ants because they're so clean and organized. But sometimes there's too many and you start to become afraid they might get inside your ears or your nose while you sleep. 😨 That's when you basically have no choice but use ant poison. And I don't mean the spray, that's useless. You need the little containers that have sugary poison, so the ants bring the stuff back to the queen and the colony dies. Yeah it sucks but sometimes you have no choice.
pro tip: cook anything meaty, just any kind of meat and put it outside or near your room, but just put it just far away enough so that they get redirected
well some tricks that may work, (worked for me) you can try leaving some bay leaves, cinnamon (oil/powder) or pepperment oil if you know how they are getting in. It doesnt kill them but they dont like the smell. If you drink coffee and have some grinds, you can also leave grinds where ants go. Apperently the strong smell disorientates them since they travel based on smell. can confuse them from coming in your place. Haven't tried the coffee trick but heard it works so maybe its worth a shot. better than needlessly killing them if you dont have to.🤔
my dad and i used to get ants really bad in the house during the winter. he said they were trying to escape the cold outside. they'd be in my room, our bathroom, our dishwasher, our microwave... ant spray isn't too expensive at most stores; that's the best i'd recommend. i hope they go away 🫂 best of luck, friend

I use food grade diatomaceous earth. It gets rid of bed bugs and roaches, too, but you need to consistently apply it. It's both odorless and safe for humans and animals if you have pets.

When you found that hole, you glue it completly. Then ants cannot come in again. But I don't know if in your case the come from tiny holes in the wall or something else. And yes don't kill them. Ants just want to live too :)
