My prado 120 v6 2005 LPG dual fuel in Melbourne has done 200K, everything runs smooth, only changed LPG injectors myself. I have been doing all servicing myself. I am a pharmacist not a mechanic. One of my friend who owns a diesel asked me how to stop his prado from excessive SMOKING, I told him to try Nicotine patches.
I’m looking forward to your 700k inspection on my V6 120! What a machine 💪😁
Funny how all the 4x4 posers shit on prado's when they are clearly built to last. You only have to stick your head under them to see they have the same or similar running gear (diffs/trans/big brakes etc) to the big cruisers in a smaller package, even the chassis rails look as chunky. 180l fuel capacity and a 4l petrol that won't die makes a decent package.
My wife has owned Nissans for the last two cars (10yrs), and is done with them because they’re made with such major flaws. I was servicing them both long term and when compared to Toyotas they have frustratingly stupid flaws & she’s done with them thank god after both had major failures which cost a fortune to fix. The replacement is the choice between a 150 Prado 3.0L diesel this time around or a Pajero Sport. She’s leaning towards the Pajero.
thanks mate for sharing this, it's great to see how well the 120 Prado is built, that's a impressive amount of km's to reach in any vehicle, better to spend the money to fix it now then in the middle of nowhere. be very interested to see what the tranny oil looks like 😁👍
the car might have done nearly 700,000 but the engine hasn't, as you said the engine was replaced 500,000 odd ks.
V6 petrol engine well serviced better than diesel
Very debatable
Definitely cheaper to maintain the v6 in the long run.
It’s more reliable too. The 1GRFE 2003-2009 is Toyotas 2nd best ever engine. Toyota’s best & most reliable engine ever made is the 1GRFE 2009 to current. The Australian Prado stopped using it in 2014 because Toyota decided we were going to get stuck with the diesel option only. American Toyotas are still using the 1GRFE today. Older technology in it, but an excellent engine nonetheless.
1GRFE Prado 120 or 1KZ-TE which one is better on the long run? For offroad/city, daily driver and some towing?
In my country(Argentina) its normal see 1kd whith more of 600000km runing without any problem
Good video!
not a lot of oil leaks awesome stuff💪💪cant say that about BMW's after owning both cars Toyotas hold up very well.
I have the same model. You could make a video using my car as an example on how badly it's been worked on by other mechanics and why now I can't find a mechanic that will take it on? Their all happy to give me their opinions. (of course different from the last) I'm not a mechanic. I watch your videos in hope to learn and try to make sense of what I'm being told. Help!
Yep, my 2008 V6 is at 203k. Been all over this continent and never missed a beat, except for one flat battery. Always serviced and not a daily driver. Many more years and trips in her yet.
Good stuff 🤙
I would be doing the wheel bearings on it at those ks,and changing that trans oil...
The venerable 1GRFE
Nice UA-cam channel. As preventive maintenance would you service the transmission, diffs, transfer case etc before the big trip?
My 2005 V6 is only at 220k...👌
What a beautiful car
Hey mate, I'm looking at a 2003 model with 350,000kms. Well looked after. Worth a look or spend more money for a diesel?
