  • After the incredible success of "the Balos Lagoon", when we risked being attacked by goats • ADDIO Creta A MAI PIÙ ... , today we head to Seitan Limania, another of the most beautiful beaches of Crete.
Seitan Limania in Greek means Port of the Devil and To reach it you have to take a road with numerous hairpin bends.
From the parking lot, you reach the viewpoint to see the inlet and the steep path begins.
We continue towards Preveli Beach, on the southern coast of the island.
This beach is characterized by the presence of the mouth of a river on whose banks a luxuriant palm grove grows.
The swim makes us hungry, so we decide to enjoy a delicious pita gyros.
Then we visit Elafonnissi beach, in the south west, famous for the pink beach.
Another beach that we recommend, very close to Chania, is Stavros Beach. This beach is also called the Zorba Beach and from here the path to the Lera cave starts.
After reaching it we rewarded ourselves with a nice dinner in Irene's tavern with Cretan salad, moussaka, octopus and loukumades.
The next stop is Lake Kournas which is the only freshwater lake on the island, our intermediate stop before reaching the Arkadi Monastery.
This monastery witnessed a dramatic event in the history of Crete.
In 1866, during the years of Turkish domination, the resistance of Crete took refuge in this monastery, which for this reason became the scene of a terrible battle. The Cretan men, who had few weapons compared to the guns of the Turks, died and the women and children took refuge with the priest in the gunpowder warehouse and when the Turks also broke into this room, the priest lit a candle from the altar blowing up everything, but saving refugees from death and slavery at the hands of enemies.
We set off towards Heraklyon to visit the Palace of Knossos which is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world.
It dates back to 1700 BC and is the greatest expression of the Minoan civilization, preceding the Greek one which was destroyed after the eruption of the volcano of Santorini and the conquest by the Mycenaeans.
The Palace of Knossos is famous for the myth of the minotaur, a half-man half-bull monster born from the union of Minos's wife with a very cruel bull.
To hide this horrible and hungry monster, Minos had him locked up in the Labyrinth of the palace built by Daedalus.
Last stop Spinalonga Peninsula, near Agios Nicolaos.
