I have been watching your videos for years - you are the source of truth on the Internet for drones and action cams - thanks for all the effort that you put into investigating the nuances of all of this tech - and for all the effort that you put into your video production - I missed the green plant in this video, though Shawn 🙂…
Finally I can purchase the goggles 3 now. I was hoping DJI will update it to work with the RC2 controller and the mini 4 pro. Thanks for taking the time to share you knowledge.
Thank you! I just purchased the Goggs3 and was at a loss as the user-guide does not show the pairing/binding process between the Air3, RC2, and the Goggs3. 👍🏽👊🏽
Thanks for the video! It looks like RC3 controller pairs directly to goggles 3 and RCN2 controller still pairs directly to the drone itself so if you lose the connection to goggles, you still have a control of the drone... would that be a correct statement?
Do you know if I can connect the goggles to multiple Avata 2's? Say, so I can just bring one set of goggles and controller for multiple Avata 2's? Thanks for those who will help out! 🙂
This process did not work for us. We had to hard wire (USB C-C) the goggles to a cell phone (device WITH the DJI fly app. From there following the online directions we were able to update firmware and connect to the drone. If the video process does not work, try that.
You can fly the mini 4 and the air three with the stock controllers and the goggles. You don’t have to buy the motion controller. But indeed, I would love if DJI allowed us to fly the Avata with the RC2 with luck that will come with a firmware update
Once again! Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You UA-camrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. This seems so logical why hasn't DJI done this? It's all O4 so it should just be a software update.
THANKS for showing, that the connection needs to be done with the drone, and NOT with the RC2 ! 😅👍🏼 BUT, i wished the goggles to simply work as a second screen, not as the GUI to fly my Air 3 with 😳😱 ... NO menu to change to panorama mode, quick- or mastershots, no tracking => NOTHING ... not even the C2 button to switch between 1x and 3x zoom works 😖 as the display of the RC2 turns into this information screen, i can't give the goggles to someone else to feel like a copilot 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ last but not least, as i don't like this remote thing, i guess i won't use the goggles with the Air 3 without a MAYOR firmware update, giving most/all function of the RC2, or the possibility to simply stream it 🤷🏼♂️😢
A word of warning when doing this: When i connect my mini 4 Pro to the goggles 3 and motion RC without using my RC2 the goggles give me a warning that I'm controlling the drone with an unbound device. Using an unbound device has gotten people screwed by DJI care refresh in the past. So if you do use a motion RC and goggles be very careful. If you have Care Refresh on the mini and crash with the motion RC, you might get denied to use one of your refreshes.
Question?? I bonded my air3 to the goggles 3 can I use my rc 2 controller instead of that motion controller and if so how do you take off if you do not have use of any of the controls on the rc 2 except the 2 joysticks.thank you😁😃🤠
Yes, you can. Easiest way to takeoff in that scenario is push the sticks down and in that’ll start the motors. Then push up on the left and that will launch the drone
Great vid as usual! I have a question though. I have everything connected and they are all talking to each other. The screen on the RC control goes dark and it shows the goggles 3 are in use as well and the motion controller 3. It still says in the goggles that the aircraft is not bound and I can fly up to 5 times. Not sure what I've done wrong. Thanks
I have an issue when switching from motion 3 to RC 2 and back to motion 3 i see a message in the goggles saying not using bound divce???? Even tho they are all bound. Please help
I purchased mine a few days ago. The are good but you can only video at a frame rate of 60 fps (HD and 4K). As I do not have an Avata ( only a Mini 4 Pro) I had install the latest firmware using the fly app on my phone. I had a lot of problems connecting the phone with a standard USB data cable. You have to connect the googles to the supplied OTG connector or it will not connect!
I have the integra goggles and RC Motion 2 binded to my mini 4 pro And I want to remove / unbind them so I could use the new goggles 3 and RC motion 3 . But not even DJI support could do it They want to unbind my RC 2 first…???? Can you do a video addressing this issue?
Maybe this is a silly question, but how can I start the Air3 with the RC and the goggles? Do I need to disable the goggles, start the drone via the RC, and then reactivate the goggles?
i had a lot of trouble binding goggles to my mini 4 pro. their instructions tell you to connect a cable to your mobile device which was not mentioned. you would think when you first power on the goggles that a message would come up telling you to update the firmware. only the avanta 2 showed up under status. one big hassle not user friendly at all.
Thanks for this. There is a lot of confusion out there about connecting the RC 2 controller to the Goggles 3. From what I had been reading and seeing, it seemed that you would be forced to use the motion controller and connect the goggles to your phone. This is obviously not the case. I wish people would stop assuming how something works based on how it functioned in a previous product generation. I am a photographer and was looking to get the goggles for a closer view than the controller to find animals, but wasn’t looking to use the motion controller. From what you show here, the Goggles 3 looks like an excellent addition to my Air 3 setup. Quick question: If you're just using the controller for the sticks, how do you go about using RTH while using the goggles? Also, how would you swap between the 1x and 3x lenses on the Air 3?
Indeed, it is very different than the way the goggles 2 and integra connected. No need to use a phone and you don’t have to purchase the motion controller DJI officially supports the stock controllers unlike before.
Indeed, I’m sure we will see that over the coming weeks and months I would love to be able to fly the Avada with the RC2 I think that would be great for a scenario where you can’t use the goggles
Thank You for this Video!!! I was about to send my new DJI Air3 drone and Goggles 3 back! I read so many manuals. Lots of searches, Found this, Tremendous Help! Thanks Again!
That's interesting. The video process didn't work for us. We had to connect to a device with the DJI fly app via USB and follow the instructions that way. I'm glad you got it to work. These goggles are awesome.
Once again! Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You UA-camrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. The RC 2 is compatible with the Avata 2 I demonstrate that in the video. I’m sure other compatibility will be coming overtime. In my opinion, DJ has done an excellent job making older drones compatible with newer gear. Heck, even the original v2 goggles were compatible with the 03 system. For myself I think they’ve done a great job with backward compatibility with many of their products. however, technology advances and at some point it’s just not physically possible to make it backward-compatible not without hampering innovation
Thank you for replying. So are you saying that I can use the goggles 3 & the RC 2 with the Mini 4 Pro, Avata 2 and Air 3? Meaning that I only need (1) Rc and (1) goggles to operate these (3) drones?
@@maxsteal1982 I think the answer is Yes - almost. I have the Av2 (with goggles and MC3) and m4p (with RC2). MO. The RC2 will fly the m4p with the goggles (blank screen on RC2). The MC3 will fly both the Av2 and the m4p with goggles. But the Av2 will not fly with the RC2 - which is what I would like in the next firmware update ...

Lol it’ll be back for the next one. And thank you for those kind words. It is greatly appreciated.
Finally I can purchase the goggles 3 now. I was hoping DJI will update it to work with the RC2 controller and the mini 4 pro. Thanks for taking the time to share you knowledge.
You can indeed use the RC2 with the mini 4 pro and the goggles 3
Great video! Subscribed. This is how an informational video should been done. Going back through all your videos now. Thank you!
Thanks for that 😊
Very helpfull, everythings work
Does easy acro work with the mini 4 pro?
Thank you! I just purchased the Goggs3 and was at a loss as the user-guide does not show the pairing/binding process between the Air3, RC2, and the Goggs3. 👍🏽👊🏽

Bought them and sent them back when I saw how crippled they were. No camera changing, active track etc.
Exactly my point. I've been waiting soo long for goggles for mini 4 pro. But will not buy until this is corrected, or look elsewhere
Wake me up when they let you use the RC2 or RC-N2 controllers for the goggles, instead of scamming you to buy the "FPV" controller seperately.
You can fly the mini 4 and the air three with the stock controllers and the goggles. You don’t have to buy the motion controller. But indeed, I would love if DJI allowed us to fly the Avata with the RC2 with luck that will come with a firmware update

Hello i need help. The goggles screen says that the headset is not connected and i am stuck because the 5d button has no effect. What to do?
Restart

Gawd, thank you! I dont know why DJI doesn't mention the binding part between the goggles and drone in their setup process.

so basically you need the stock controller to do this, one can't buy a mini 4 pro alone and expect it to work with the goggles and motion 3?
You can use whatever configuration you want. You combined it to the motion three or the stock controller you do not need to own both.
