    Just Fantastic!!!! I've never been so moved emotionally by any other music. I've always believed music to be powerful, and as a matter of fact, there is always music around me or in my head; but wow!!!! What an amazing experience it is to hear the sounds of our ancestors in a traditional setting. These are the things I did not experience growing up as a "City Indian." My culture was hidden from me, and as an adult, I now have exploding heartfelt emotion that burns deep within me. I am proud to have such a heritage. I need more!!!!!!

    Could you imagine in the early days if you lived in Indian territory with then still at war with the white man and you heard this echoing around the hills , it would certainly be unnerving to say the least .

      the Natives never had "war songs".....to stir up hate and violence for war......the way the Europeans did, with their drums, flutes, etc......before going into battle...The songs sung by the Natives all had to do with protection.....and respect....not killing...In fact, the way they fought at first, in their own way, involved no killing of the enemy at all.....killing was considered a coward's way of dealing with the enemy.....frowned upon...If an enemy was killed by accident....ok....shit happens..sometimes.....but it was not considered honorable to kill an enemy like that in a fight.....In battle, they would strike their enemy, with a feathered stick....no blade , nothing, just a simple stick.....and to humiliate and really really embarrass their enemy, they would, in the course of hand to hand "wrestling"....really rough wrestling.... steal their spear, or shield, or bow, or better yet...their horse......or even their woman.....Killing the enemy only came into play after they realized that the white man didn't fight their way.....They just shot to kill, and that was a big surprise to the Natives...Very cowardly, to shoot an enemy dead like that...it takes no courage at all to point a gun and pull the trigger.....and once the enemy is dead on the ground......you can't fight him anymore....he can't fight you either.....he's just laying there.... dead.......it's OVER.....so , no glory in that...no honor either...no valor.......Once they realized the rules of engagement were changed......that battle meant "killing" every single time.........then they altered their ways of fighting so they didn't all get shot off their horses as they rode up to meet and challenge their enemy in a fight....

      @@timmccarthy3034 in another comment just down below, someone mentioned the Vikings be the most feared of all. Then another commented back that the Native Americans killed and beat off the Vikings because they tried taking over Indian land. So, did they or did they not kill before the Europeans started settling in the 1500-1600 era? The Vikings trace back 800 years ago landing in Nova Scotia and Maine areas.

    • @anativeamerican3140
      @anativeamerican3140 4 роки тому +9

      possum1500 the Vikings encountered my people in Newfoundland, they never landed in Nova Scotia. But the mikmaq lived all over the maritimes. We chased them off after they killed one of our Negotiators or peace maker in front of the chief, they provoke the Mi’kmaq by proving to them that they were blood thirsty war mongers, and beasts like that couldn’t be trusted to live in a land of peace. I don’t know if we killed them, but I know we kicked them out of here when they tried taking the land by force

    CELTS are naturally drawn to this. There are many cultural and historical similarities between Natives and Celts (perhaps Natives agree? I'm not really sure).. Natives are a living reminder of what we used to be (family clans thriving in the natural landscape). We still have our festivals, like the Eisteddfod, and National Holidays.. but this is everyday Life and Culture to the Native tribes-- they were resilient enough to keep it alive.

    To someone totally unfamiliar with N. American Native culture, this may seem incomprehensible. But you really need to hear this song in the full context of the powwow experience to know how powerful it is. Try Wikweigong (Manitoulin Island) and the Drum of the Northern Cree.
