I lived during the hard times when PAP first came into power and I know what LKY is talking about. I heard the stories from my parents about the war times. Don't take for granted what we have now. It comes with a lot of vigilance on the part of the government. What we have now is because of the sound policies they put into practice. And yes, you cannot please everybody because some only think about themselves.
An elected government policy is not to 'satsify' anyone neither is to look after youths or adult , Muslim nor Buddhist only, it has to take into consideration the need of everyone , every community/ group and acted in the best interest of Singapore nation. Compromises need to be reached in order to formulate a national policy that place the country's interest above an individual, any one group/ community/ race/ religion; so that Singapore can move forward and remain competitive globally. A policy that treat every Singaporean equally and fairly regardless of race and religion, create equal opportunity for all, not one group/community only.

it was from the previous part of the interview when he was answering a question about solving issues from a ageing population in Singapore, the fact that the girl answering was a PHD student and 27 years old proved his point and it became a joke when he wished for her to find a boyfriend at the end of the interview LOL
