@@DynasticDanny You must be joking surely? how can security and shop staff complain when you bring customers to the centre to be enthralled in sweet music? Do they not realise their sales will go up? Maybe they are jealous of you having more attention then them, I don't know. But what I do know is that they must me crazy to want you to stop. Maybe it is time to find a piano somewhere else where the security are more relax to non-threatening performances 🤣 Take care Danny and never give in to those who treat you badly after all they have a piano on display and people will want to play it. I doubt most of the people listening realized how many hundreds of hours of practice you have put in to learn to play with such skill and control. Incredible.
I used to live in an apartment above two prodigies, piano and violin. They didn't play chop sticks until 9 pm every evening. Heard lots of wonderful music.
Thousands of hours, I’m sure. These guys practice 5-6 hours a day for decades. It’s wonderful for them, knowing they gained this level of skill by choice. And it’s wonderful for us, when they choose to share their skills with us, the very appreciative audience.
I always have tons of respect for people playing on random pianos in public. I once played Rachmaninov prelude op. 23 no. 5 on a full size grand that was sitting in the center of the shopping mall, and my heart was pounding from nervousness.
no one mentions the amazing transitions between each song. you are playing very complicated, crowded songs. that must be hard for your hands just after one song, but you didn't even take a break. insanity! incredible skill.
Appreciate your acknowledgement! Yes, that's an important aspect to address... As long as I stretch and warmup my hands/fingers for a few minutes before playing it should be alright. It's easy to become tense after a certain period of doing something as intricate such as the moonlight sonata 3rd movement. So I have to be aware of how it's feeling and to let it breathe. My practise sessions have been quite intense, where I do a plethora of repetitions. I get massages occasionally which helps significantly. Thank you
The sequence flowed like the score of a silent picture. Some of those who restore rediscovered early films, need to ask him to do the scores. I heard this and remembered a young man at our small college, playing for me on a Saturday afternoon. He improvised with feeling, various styles and movements, immersed in the flow. I told him it felt as though we had taken a tour around the world. I regretted that my tape recorder was not there. This brought that to mind. That is music at its purpose: not for perfection, but for expression; not to impress, but to _immerse._ Yes!
To play a wrong note is understandable, to play without passion, is inexcusable, Beethoven. As an advanced classical pianist, I could relate he played with passion, well done. I can't believe there were idiots who would listen to this and just walk by, and not appreciate it. However, at least enough people did the guy is a classical MASTER. That is one of the toughest compositions to master, there are so many intricate details, it is easy to make an error.

It is certainly possible within 4 years or even less. Depends on the focus, motivation and a little bit of talent. Lots of talent but no focus can waste this kind of skill away. Awesome job being self taught, playing from memory and only 16 years/o. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Keep going!!! Question: how many years did it take you to become this good?
Hi Micheal, great question and thanks for asking! My journey with the piano has been quite a rollercoaster ride. I’ve been casually playing since primary school - whenever I had a break, I’d sneak off to the piano rooms (I still do, haha) and mess around with a few pieces I picked up by ear and UA-cam tutorials, like bits of Passacaglia and the first movement of Moonlight Sonata, as I have not yet acquired sheet music. The real learning began about four years ago, around 2020. I dove headfirst into the deep end by starting with Beethoven’s 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata, a piece that’s notoriously difficult and a turmoil of sentiment. From there, eventually over time I worked on scales and technique. It’s been a lot of repetition, building routines, and staying consistent and disciplined. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am now, and I’m still pushing to get better, almost every day.
