RIP John Madden. A true legend.
We will miss him 😭
I second that emotion.
i know John Betty and that Packer guy they go in 3s
And Don Reeves in the same week.
@@winosandbar5077 indeed
Rest easy, John madden. Truly a legend.
Who was John Madden besides the guy in this sketch?? In 40yrs that’s the first time I’ve seen him
@@nichhodge8503 💀💀💀🤭🤭🤭
🙏🏻
Gotta say, John Madden was really good here. Didn’t flub his lines, got that silly kicker name right...pretty impressive.
You did a great job he almost broke when Eddie says got his pills from Francisco but he rolled it off and kept moving
Alcoholism and age hadnt taken it's effect yet.
He's a professional improviser and talker. That's what interviewers are.
Farley would have been better!
@@MrMichaelsu do you know who John Madden is? There's a reason they picked him for this sketch.
That skit was outrageous! Big props to Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo and the late John Madden.
Its was predicted that bengals will go the super bowl
Looks more like what the cowboys would be doing when there knocked out of the playoffs again
Was watching a game John was calling. One team was getting their ass handed to them. Camera zooms in on the huddle, quarterback looks like a combat victim, dirt all over his uniform, grass tufts in the helmet.
John astutely comments, "You know your team's offense is in trouble when the quarterback's uniform is dirtier than anyone else.
RIP John. I was so lucky to hear you call games, enjoy your sense of humor, how you explained the game. There will never be another.
Yeah, that was the Superbowl game against the 49ers in 1982. That was the first Superbowl I ever watched and I was rooting for the Bengals due to their cool uniforms lol.- they had just switched the year before. But they did play horribly and it was barely a game. Madden will always be associated with football for me just like Cosell was for the earlier generation. RIP John and thanks for the memories!!
I would love to hear John Madden’s comments about Redskin QB’s having their legs mutilated.
They lost because a guy Eddie's size was on the o-line.
OL/ KR
Eddie Murphy was wearing #69 because he was a Snapper on Punt Team. : - ))
Came to say the same thing.
Lmaoo
😂😂😂 I was just looking at that like why he got on O line numbers?
That's why SNL is so funny. Sometimes the cast miss their cue, and it makes things even funnier. Eddie didn't drop with the first gun shot. There was another time when Eddie flubbed his line, and without missing a beat he looked at the camera and said something like "yeah I messed up my line...so what?!?" It was classic.
Used to be funny. Now it's nothing but political propaganda for Democrats.
@@dl30wpb You're wrong, it was never funny.
I believe he also told them to shut up.
@@dl30wpb - Well you’ll always have Fox “News” so, just stick with that traitorous, bigoted propaganda.
@@magicman322 Yes, the corrupt Right has Fox, and the corrupt Left has the rest of the networks.
Maddon could be in the HOF 3 different times. One as a coach, one as a broadcaster, and one as a contributor. He is the reason why so many camera angels cover games.
Wish he would have covered NASCAR pits, stands, where ever class man.
True
Yup those angels were holy 😅
I love a good camera angel.

Just saw John passed. UA-camd him and this popped up. Never seen it before but warms my heart as a life long Bengal fan.

Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy saved SNL during the mid 80's. I forgot John Madden made an appearance.
Thanks for posting!
During the early '80s.
@@thecawdsquad875 LOL very early. Literally the first couple years of the 80s.
Cincinnati Bengals fan here and I'd like to say after a losing 2019 season seeing this sketch is the biggest win of the season.
Sorry about your Bengals bro. At least now they'll likely get Joe Burrow from LSU as the top pick for this year's draft. Good luck to your Bengals next season coming from me a diehard Bronco fan.

Greatest coach ever. Greatest football commentator ever. Greatest video game creator ever. Some people only get to do one thing - he did 1M things, did them so well and loved every minute of it. RIP Coach.
Though he didnt create the Madden Football franchise I am super glad that the creator of Electronic Arts ended up getting his 3rd choice to endorse the game, legendary John Madden. First choice was Joe Montana and second choice was Joe Kapp and finally 3rd choice was John Madden. Montana couldnt cause of contract with Atari and Kapp wanted royalties from the game so Kapps greediness lead Electronic Arts to John Madden. Again super happy that that played out cause the video game wouldnt of been as good as it was without Madden's input and legendary sayings. Just found this all out from an article in USA Today and I could never imagine Madden Football being nothing but Madden Football.
@Tea Gene I wasnt gonna get in the discussion of who the greatest coach ever was cause there is a few that can be labeled that like Lombardi, Walsh, Halas, and some people will even name coaches like Ditka and Andy Reid. I'm sure there is quite a few I missed naming but you get the point. It's hard to compare coaches from different eras cause the game changes with time.
@Tea Gene So is Bill Walsh and Don Shula. Maybe even Bill Belicheat. :(
I believe he truly lived about the best life anyone could ever dream up.
He made the game of football understandable to millions of people who would never have had the good fortune to grasp it the way we do now.
Oh, yeah...And he had the greatest winning % of any coach who ever lived!
He out his heart and soul, his LIFE, into football.
There is nobody's opinion about football I was ever more interested in. Wish he had commentated another 10 years. Rest in peace, coach.
@@kurt666morris Bill Belicheat😂🤣😂
This skit is quite a gem! Rest in peace, John Madden.
I like how Eddie is the size of a skill position player but they gave him the number of a offensive lineman!
69 lol Eddie definitely picked that
@@whitemikenv Lol I thought the same thing
Yeah, I love that, sports is funny that way, it’s authenticity is harder to fake than people realize. But it never stops Hollywood from trying, and failing! Like the guy who’s suppose to be a SuperBowl winning QB, but looks like he’s never thrown a football in his entire adult life.😆 Hilarious!!
The greatest part of John's appearance on SNL was the story he told of when Ted Hendricks accidentally dropped some loose change into a locker room toilet. He watched him standing there for a minute, looking at the money, before he reached into his pocket, peeled off a few bills, and dropped them into the toilet as well before kneeling down to fish them out. When John asked him what he was doing, Hendricks replied, "You don't think I'm reaching in there for only a few cents, do you?" 🤣 I hope SNL can show that episode on tonight's 10 pm rewind.
Haha!!!! Ted Hendricks was a mad genius! And one of the last great overall football players.
@@animalmother1582 I believe that his nickname was "The Mad Stork". Madden did say that linebackers are a different breed.
Damn... comedy was dark back then

It's too bad we never got to see John Candy play Madden, he would've been perfect. RIP to two legends.

My thoughts exactly, I was thinking about that recently.
He coulda played Madden in a biopic.....man that woulda been something. He'd have absolutely been perfect.

RIP to both coach Madden and Gregg.
Yeah but congrats on winning the AFC North!
(From a Steelers fan still stinging after last week’s embarrassment)
This is hilarious. To see Madden almost laugh was good. And the first shot, Eddie didn't even flinch, but second shot hit him. Good standup between a real coach and actor. Very funny. RIP JOHN MADDEN. Gonna be missed.
1982: Funny
2019: Realistic

@Just J he means that what they fun in past is coming true in the present.
@Just J lmao he was talking about the team
@Just J he was talking about their depiction of a football team in this particular skit, not their political leaning...
@Just J I guess you were so busy being mad at the democrats, you missed the joke. He wasnt referring to SNL
He was making fun of the Bengals sucked this year.
Maybe make us a list of what tru.o has done. If you stick just to what he has done to strip individual rights from the people, it will as long as this one. Democrat or Republican, they are all the same.
John is a big dude... Didn’t realize how big he was until watching this ...

@Marc Bryant Pretty bold defense for team with a 1 and 14 record. Why did they bother to get a new coach? My 9 year old daughter could coach them to a 1 and 14 record. They are a joke, at least for this season. Save your rebuttals for when they do better.
Until then, self-deprecating humor is the route all Bungle fans must go.
@Marc Bryant None of that matters if you can't even go past the Wild Card.

The point of anger!
Tim Kazurinsky was so underrated when he was on SNL. He should have been a bigger star ⭐️ when he left the show. I did enjoy him in the police academy movies but he should rank as one of the best SNL cast members.
Before SNL, Tim was a standout for Second City, and has done very nice work in the Chicago theater scene.
