Most cite " Another Brick in the Wall" or " Comfortably Numb " as the highlights of " The Wall " album....IMHO, " Hey You " is the best song...borderline metal guitars, great lyrics, Gilmour and Waters adding their vocal stylings....perfect

I find that this Goldring cart has a warmer sound, especially if you compare it to the AT ART9 .. I prefer this sound, it's more enjoyable, less fatiguing, better balanced in my opinion .. and it is still very transparent if you listen carefully .. it works really well with Pink Floyd's music .. it's the proof that a "clear sound" and a "transparent sound" are two different caracteristics .. Goldring seams to be an underestimated cartridge manufacturer, not so popular these days compared to Ortofon and Audio Technica .. maybe we should look after their products a little bit more .. thumbs up !
@@AudioPhil1 It would be really interesting to compare this Goldring, to a Nagaoka MP-200 for example .. they cost about the same, more or less .. and the MP-200 is very popular for its natural, open, warm sound, just like this Goldring, but maybe a tad better .. and it seems to perform like a champ with micro harmonic details, dynamics, bass / treble response etc .. an acclaimed cartridge you can put on your next shopping list if you're interested ;) And another thing .. I've read a story about a guy who has a huge, massive, super high end system, who sold his crazy expensive MC cart (Lyra Etna .. more than 5000$ msrp), because he fell in love with his 10X cheaper new Nagaoka MP-200 .. that's how good it is :)
Wow. This cartridge (even through UA-cam) sounds better on this than the ATs. Shows that you can have warmth AND detail. Slays digital sources of course, even when transmitted through lossy AAC (which is an amazing format for what it is). This sounds so epic, tempted to buy. Wonder how it would compare to the Ortofon Black? Probably comes down to phono stage pairing. This one is so excellent.
I imagine sound from this turntable, fed to a tube amplifier and good speakers with appropriate cables. Even listening from YT with digital processing and my Polkaudio speakers is a lot of fun, thanks Mike
I like the Goldring 1042G better than that Audio Technica you used before. Of course, the headshells are different, and the cartridge setup might have changed.
Question- I got Dark Side of The Moon Record abut a week ago, and it sounds amazing, The only thing it's a Remastered 2016 Pressing...is that good or bad ??
AudioPhil, do yourself a huge favour and replace your Technics tonearm with an RB250 arm at the minimum and listen to your turntable sing. There's plenty more upgrades you can add in the future but changing the tonearm gives a night and day difference to the sound quality.
Interesting, I've had both RB250 and 300's in the past, as well as a Michell Technoarm (which is essentially the same thing), all the way up to an SME V. It would certainly make for an interesting experiment to swap the arm on the 1200G 👍

My preference is for the Audio Technica cartridges, but they all sound superb to be honest - you can't really go wrong with any of them.
I have the same cartridge. The body sits very low. Does it ever touch even slightly warped records? It sometimes does it to me...
