love my 124017 v2 on 3s lipo esc tuner to ramp in the speed 1/10 duct tape mod tyres. got all these ideas from you @JohnRobinsonRC just wish could find some hub extension that are good to widen the track width. thing does wheels im sure at 100kmph. 8:50 yep, I found myself using it the same way too. I remember 2 years ago when I've just started this hobby I took the transmitter and made a little experiment with hands positions with the transmitters while driving. So we are using it like left handed people))) maybe because of computer racing games experience where the directions was in the left hand by default, I don't know))

I bought this one to make sure they wouldnt send me the v1 with the cogging issues, plus i liked the colour on it.
And they say the controller was better, better range, etc

Yes but it doesn't help. Tried 5 different phones including an iPhone and it is so unstable. Very bad design.
Sorry John but the 124017 has a 60 amp esc not a 45 amp as you said at the start( or Colin said 45amp and you said it's the same )
Unless that's a v1 buggy and it's different to the v2,but I have the v2 and it's a 60amp 100000000% mate

@@JohnRobinsonRC Well actually I've watched other videos on the 124017 v1 and they did say it had a 45amp esc so I'm wondering if they made a mistake or it was upgraded to 60amp with the v2
I have asked WLToys for confirmation. I think the 124007 has a 60amp but someone has incorrectly stated 45amp... I am hoping so..

As it was slightly slower than the 17 ( only by a few km though )

I don't get it, it's the same buggy with a couple "gimmicky" attempts at "something"? They probably have a gigantic overstock of the 124017's that didn't sell and are trying to figure out a way to get rid of them. I own a couple Wltoys, being impressed by them goes away quickly when you have to start looking for parts, changing out cheap Phillips hardware for decent hex-head screws, poor quality electronics ect. ect. RLAARLO's new 1/12 buggy is light-years ahead, and at a much better price right now.
Very hard for me to argue with your logic. Wltoys are asking a lot of money compared to the still decent 144001 for not a lot more. And the gimmicky attempts aren't even executed well. That's why I said if you own a 124017, then you don't need this. The 124017 or 124007 is the choice depending on your car design. The rest is the same. Rlaarlo I think are watching everything wltoys are doing badly and improving it. Even down to spare parts and customer service. I hope Rlaarlo continue to improve to be honest as then wltoys will just keep sliding down hill I am afraid.

Hi John.. Do you still think that the 124017 WL is a better choice than the 124008 WL ? I just got the WL 124017 with a transmitter equal to the 08, I haven't tried it..... Do you think this has improved the delay ??? which parts are compatible ???

Hello mate. To be honest I wasn't. Didn't see the point. Then saw Tomleys review and the damage caused. However I have now been sent one so will have an open mind and try and break it. 😂 It does look good though. Typical wltoys, no grease.

Are the old/new Tx's universal/interchangeable like all the wltoys tx's? I.e. could you use a 007 tx on a 144001 and vice versa?

AAA's are a lot more expensive over here, so that is a bit of a negative for me, the rechargeable single Nimh cells are double the price of the AA's.

Seems too light with plastic chassis. Seemed to have a difficult time staying planted and kept flipping. I think I prefer the 124017 with the aluminum chassis. Thank you John and Colin for the review.

I love wltoys because it's cheap and quality for that money is good. They have great ideas, but execution is not so good.. It's looks like they do not test what they produce... Anyway great video 👍
Yes I have to agree. If they took 10% more effort on quality control (and logic) they could be brilliant. But so many mistakes have started to annoy a lot of people...... 😒😒😒

Quick question guys, I over ran my 17 on 3s and it started smoking from the motor, I unplugged it straight away, let it cooled and try plugging the battery back in, but smoked a whole lot more 😂. I know the motors Gone diddly gone gone, but is it the battery now redundant or will it be okay in a different car? Hellllllp ppl
Hiya. Battery should be fine. Unless it shows signs of overheating or damage of course. Did it get mega hot while the motor was BBQ'ing?

I knew I should of stopped but I was getting mega speeds and it sounded to good to stop! Had the car couple of years, so for the price... yeah John i think wltoys dropped the ball to put dual rate steering on that receiver, what a wasted marketing opportunity.was there not a slight delay on blue remote vs this one same signal wise?.colours remind me of splatoon nintendo game..lol..blue for me thank's..
Yes this car seems very hit and miss. Nothing wrong with it. But they could have made it perfect..... For very little effort!
I didn't notice any delay. I think I will get both this and the 124017 together and do a few tests to make sure.

What’s the biggest 3s battery I can put in the car with no modifications to make car go the fastest and last the longest?
Hi. The bigger the battery, the slower the car will go due to the weight. So it's more about balancing. I use a 3000 mAh as it gives good run time and nice power with 3s. If I put in 4000 for example. The car will drive for longer, but be slower. So I would rather have 2 x 2000 mAh batteries and swap them over for the same run time but faster speed due to the weight being less. 😊👌

Yes it does if you want it to, many videos of this car totally stock running on 3s...but 2s is fast enough..
@@roadstar499 you can run 3s if you want to on stock esc and motor but keep an eye on the temperature of both
I agree...always use common sense and check temps..in winter of coarse temps wont get as bad as running car in 100 degree summer.
Shame it’s the same, but at least they are still being made at reasonable prices 👌
This just screams to me this company had made far more of this buggy than they expected to sell, and so they sat down and came up with this scham of a idea to make changes that cost nothing but that seems new to the buyers. Theres just one problem with that besides all the other obvious ones, and that is that it really shows how dumb we think they are.. and if they don't think we can tell that everything but the color of the battery and the body shell are exactly the same, they must REALLY think we're complete numb skulls... kind of insulting don't you think?
Terribly designed phone holder.
Uhm yes. I did the greasing the diffs video earlier today and had the phone in the holder on the desk. Before I pressed record the phone was pushed out and dropped onto the desk (not the floor thank god.) so yes. Needs a real design or put a standard mounting point at the top of the controller. Then most phone holders or action cams can be mounted easily. But what do I know.....?
