I'm a “professional” songwriter but when I listen to Aimee Mann I feel like a pretender. Her songs are simply on another level. Here we have a kitty cat allegory where we discover that many of us are just like Goose with a cone barrier around us, sadly keeping us from trusting and connecting. The good news is, like Goose, our snow cone doesn’t have to be a permanent fixture. I would write more about this insightful theme, but there’s a Q-Tip on the sofa that's calling my name : )

I was so happy, they finally gave this genius what she deserves!
The scenes where the cat's owner comes back to an empty house reminded me of when my two cats grew old and passed away. After spending years with them, and then to have all their stuff but no cat was so devastating. It was this eery quiet which took a long time to get over. I kept looking around the corner expecting to see one or both of them. It took me a long time to get over. I still miss them deeply. I'm glad Goose came out ok. Nice video. I love this song.

I had a calico. She died of cancer about a year ago. I loved her dearly. She slept under the covers with me. She loved to snuggle.
I also had a calico (dilute) who was the snuggliest, sweetest girl ever, who also died of cancer. I will miss her forever. I'm sorry you lost your kitty. Rest in peace to her.
I had to let my baby go five months ago. I still hear her scratching at my bedroom door sometimes
Initially, I didn't understand the song title, nor the relevance of the video until I saw a clip of Aimee explaining the song origins. The combination of the song and video might be one of the most painfully beautiful things I've experienced in a while. I'm so glad it ended happy, I could not have handled it otherwise. Now I'm off to hug my cat.
Once again, Aimee demonstrates why she's one of the most talented singer/songwriters on the planet. May she write and sing for years to come.

When I first heard the song, it made me nearly cry. Then I saw the video...waterworks. Aimee's introspective ballads are always my favourites, and this new album is full of them.

God thus made me bawl when she throws away the cat food! Ugh. I was a mess.
I lose two babies. Both very young around 2-3. The female Kitty Kitty Bang Bang had an over grooming scratchin issue. To the point of horrible open wounds. Doctor put her on a “miracle medicine” and It started to work wonders, but then the meds caused liver failure. I was beside myself.
The boy, Guapo, had urinary issues. We did surgery, but it didn’t take. He passed.
Both sweet souls so you we did everything we could for them. I feel like we failed them. They both deserved so much more time. I know we did our best, but I still feel like we didn’t do enough.
I love you Aimee Mann. Your music always gets past ALL this life's barriers and obstacles and straight into our true soul and heart. What a gift. Thank you.

From someone who recently had a cat pass away this video really hit me hard.
I just lost my Sushi. She was only 5 years old. But I have her sister Sashimi, also 5. I feel guilty leaving her alone when I work four 10 hour days. Hearing this song just tugs at my heart strings even more❤️😢

Aimee M. is a genius lyricist and singer. I've seen her three times in concert and she's hilarious. You'd never know from this album! I want to see images of each of the subjects of her songs on Mental Illness.

I love this song and video so much. I have tears and heavy sighs while watching... and a wonderful sense of relief toward the end when Goose is back home. Thank you for this marvelous musical story. I finally got (I believe) what "Goose Snow Cone" comes from... when the vet brings Goose in with the "cone of shame," it hit me. Goose's sweet face sitting at the center of that white plastic thing looks just like a bright round scoop of snow in a cone. It's a perfect title.

"Goose Snow Cone" is one of the half dozen most stunningly gorgeous songs I have ever heard. Didn't even know who Aimee was until I saw her on Colbert. Can't wait to buy her album Friday.

I was so impressed she did the entire Soundtrack to that film.
The crew who put this video together (see the description) captured a mood well and told a compelling story. Aimee Mann's music just puts this over the top quite nicely. And yes, the cat perched on my shoulder doesn't make me any less moved by the story, music and lyrics.

Great song but geeez...it gets so dusty in the room every time I watch this video. Seeing the kitty alone in the cage gets me every time. Coming home alone , seeing food bowls untouched, beds empty...it's heartbreaking. Love your pets.

I love this song anyway but the video made me tearful heh. We had to leave our furbaby at the vet for two nights once and I resonated so much with that moment where Aimee's friend gets home and looks around at all of the things that remind her of Goose.

Beautiful song Aimee. I just recently lost my beautiful 10 year old cat Paula via veterinarian negligence and this song and video really hits home, she wore a "snow cone" when she was one year old due to surgery, I still have her "snow cone".

First time I have heard this song, and I loved it immediately. And the funny thing is...it is like this with ALL of Ms. Mann's songs, over the years! I have all of her albums, and you cannot really find any one song that could be considered "bad". How she keeps coming up with all these rhythms and hooks leaves me incredulous, but it is nothing short of a blessing in my life that she is out there producing albums on a regular basis. My life would be considerably different without her music in it. Kind of the background soundtrack of my life since I was 20! This song resonates, because for two different periods of my life, I had been blessed to share my life with two great cats. The first for 15 years, and the second for 22. The view down at the snowcone, at those big searching eyes, is one I can identify with. Can't wait to hear the rest of this album!

What a beautiful song and video
First time watching this video. I felt so many emotions. At first, I thought they were gonna put Goose down because the veterinarians put him in a cage with a name. Another thought was that maybe they're giving him away because the owner threw Goose's food in the trash. When that happened, it hurt me 😟
Thankfully, all of my worries were avoided. Goose got to come home and play with Q-Tips 😅
I might have to try that with my cat when I have the time.

We lost our sweet Twyla last November to lymphoma. She was an all white cat, so she looks like she could have been in the video. When I first saw this, I had the same reaction in my gut when the friend returns from the vet without Goose. The video does end on a happy note. It's a simple, beautiful video and song.
We recently saw Aimee Mann perform at Dominican University outside Chicago, where she explained the song. I've been wanting to see her for some time. She put on a great show. She is one of the best singer-songwriters to come out of the 80's, or any decade, for that matter.

I have been listening to Aimee for years, but busy with life and busy with music, she is approx. a year older than me, I do have some CD credits, but nothing doing...I play bass and back up vocals. Now about Aimee, I consider her the modern day JONI MITCHELL!!! Aimee nails it on EVERY song period! Songs about a day in your life and beyond. Not too many atrists can accomplish this talent. She is TOTALLY underrated!! Enjoy life and enjoy your music and support your favorites, because at any time, it can all END! Love U all.

Someone should tell Aimee that she should switch her cat to a wet food diet or her cat will have major health problems as it ages. I now make my own cat food from turkey thighs and chicken and grind the bones for calcium. We should treat our cats like they were are children, which of course, they are. See www.catinfo.org
I first heard this song when my husband of 26 years was dying, although I didn't know that at the time. But it made me weep like a baby anyway, because I think part of me knew what was happening even if the man I loved so hard for so long was claiming everything was fine. Now I break down every time I hear it, and probably always will. But its a beautiful song, and the tears feel more cathartic than hurtful.

It reminds me of two of our cats, Chunk and Leon Petrovich (not their real names) that passed a year apart. Luckily we made some vids starring both of them, so we can still watch them in action. Initially I listened to the song, and told my wife about it. She just about lost it when it appeared that Goose wasn't going to make it at the vet, luckily things worked out fine!
