I finally picked up a pristine c1948 Deardorff 5x7 w/o front swing. What I really miss from my Rittreck 5x7 is the lack of "Shift". Given you can't always be on dead-center with your image, how have you adjusted to overcome lack of Shift? Thank you.

Everyone’s into megapixels these days but 8x10 still rules on quality

Apologies for the wind noise on this movie I had the wrong microphone cover in blustery conditions . I hope that the lens demo was useful and further illustrates the brilliant design of the Deardorff.

Can I ask what you use to carry the camera around in? I have Deardorff 8x10 and finding it hard to get a backpack to hold it.

I use Lowe pro backpacks really well designed and strong.
Perfect for the 8x10 Deardorff and more...
The backpack in the movie is the smaller version

How do you calculate the correct exposure with the bellows extension?

    • @DavidChalmersPhotography-UK

Magnification is calculated by measuring the object size on the ground glass-then apply object size over image image size plus 1 squared = exposure factor to apply
      example 1/2 + 1 = 1.5 squared =2.25 factor
      Or 1 stop exposure increase.
Alternatively you can measure bellows extension over object distance ( lens to subject) to obtain the same result.
I think the object size on ground glass is the easier method to apply in the field. hope this helps?
      Thanks for asking.
