I would say this beast can not be compared with the bouncy XUV500. XUV500 bounces like a dancing ball even on the small potholes. Hexa gobbles up small potholes as well as medium sized holes. I have driven both vehicles and can say that Hexa is way way better in terms of driving dynamics, interior comfort even if has less features than XUV500, solidly built than XUV500. I would say Hexa excels Innova in terms of driving comfort and quality of materials used. Also it is one of the solidly built vehicle in its segment that proves its reliability. Yes, Tata's service network and service is hit or miss factor but if only the vehicle performance is concerned, Hexa is best buy in its class.

Time wasted explaining the features. Isn't it supposed to be review after 50k kilometers? I thought so. BTW Innova crysta AT returns 8 to 10 kpl. I've one.
This wasn't a long term review, it's definitely the best car of the lot. Definitely better than Innova n xuv. Am also a proud hexa owner. Wouldn't agree with a lot that you said!
@@motoroids Yes definitely. The service for 10k was completely free and there wasn't much to be done cause I didn't have any issues. I own the XMA variant, and the oil change and other filter replacement needs to be done only at 20k. I haven't reached 20k but as far as I asked, I was said that it wouldn't cost more than 10k. And the 3rd row is better than the rivals. And the weight of the vehicle has a lot to do with strength, it's definitely a much stronger car when compared to Innova, which has a lot of cheap materials, which is not worth the money, same goes with the xuv, it's a little too outdated. And from where I purchased my car, the service is very good from Tata
I have driven a recently purchased XM+ model for about 500 kms now. First impression - it misses being a proper SUV by the lack of grunt in the engine that you expect SUVs to have. No matter what gear it is in, if the engine falls below 1500 RPM it just goes to sleep. It reminds you of the old naturally aspirated petrol engines struggling to wake up when the air mixture becomes too lean. In the hills where I drive, it means that you will have to constantly keep the engine revving to milk the torque, which takes away the pleasure of driving. I was forced to come out from a parking on a rather steep slope with tyres burning and the smell of burnt clutch since the engine kept stalling throughout. I drive both Innova Crysta and Mahindra Scorpio S10 (SWD). Both of them have really nice and responsive engines. Lights do not inspire confidence at night on the hills, and lacks coverage on the sides. The high beam focus is too narrow. The lights need more expert assessment to bring it up to the level of the Scorpio which has fantastic lights. For a vehicle of this price, once would expect turning lights too. It also has a massive blind spot on the driver's right because of the thick pillars, and you have to crane your neck frequently to see whether there is incoming traffic on all right turns. This can be dangerous on the hills. Suspension is fantastic, and interior finish is of good standard. Music system is really good. The Hexa will be great on the highways for long journeys. On the hills, one could live with the other shortcomings with a more responsive engine.
@Griffin 17 Its not about power being there, it's how you get it. We live and drive on the hills in the hills every day. A drive in the ghats doesn't establish a point of view. Also, it's not about scoring points. It's about sharing an experience. Perhaps the cylinders will open up after a few thousand kms.
Yep, that’s right. It drives well once it gets going. Only problem is with starts on hill slopes when you miss the torque an suv is expected to have. The Innova crysta moves on almost 45 degree climbs at the slightest tap of the accelerator. On the hills we don’t always get to build up the rpm to ideal levels. It’s always good to drive a car that has power to spare. It’s a pity since the hexa is so nice to drive, and has probably the best suspension among the SUVs.
Griffin 17 Hi, have tried all modes, and have driven on some pretty bad roads. Still got problems with lack of low end torque. Must admit it’s got a nice engine once it gets going. Great suspension makes you feel as if you’re driver a much lighter vehicle. Should be great on the plains and highways. But don’t have the confidence to take it to difficult terrain. Perhaps newer models will have better gearing ratios - it’s always great to drive a vehicle that’s got power on tap. Have addressed weak peripheral vision by installing fog lamps on the bumper.
Excellent review. I have an Xta myself, very pleased with it. One correction...the diamond cut 19" wheels now come only with the Xta (top automatic) and the charcoal grey 16" come with the Xt. You guys got it the wrong way around. Cheers.

100%. With Hexa, you can buy a rearwheel drive, ladder frame chassis, 156bhp,400nm torque 7 seater vericle with all features including 6airbags, depending on model, at a throwaway price. Any 2ndhand car with similar configuration will cost you more than double of 2ndhand hexa. I'm driving Aria 4x4 model for 8yrs with 112000kms. If you give me 20lakhs and ask me to buy a similar config 7seater, I've no option other than Hexa. Anything similar costs more than 30lakhs. The only downside is it's pathetic resale value. But for you, that's the biggest advantage.
