If we can't keep Geno Smith vertical than there's no reason to pay the guy, we need to invest heavily in the trenches and then address the qb situation, probably can't do both right now.
100%, pointless to pay a ton to Geno in that case. And also the rest of the team won't be legit competitors until about 2026-2027 anyway. I'd only keep Geno if he's under 30 mil, which I doubt
The team is JS team. If he wants to draft or trade for a QB he will. Geno is good enough. If they put everything into the lines and TE they will be much better. DK is questionable, he's just too darn sensitive.
Just finish the season and let him go. If he stays make him a backup. Go get a younger QB that is mobile and don’t throws INTs in the red zone constantly.
I don't think there is any chance they pay him that. Worst case they go with a cheaper vet option out there knowing it's not going to be a super bowl run & wait & see what shows up in the draft, all while saving some $$
I think the real SB window for us begins in 2026-2027. I'd be fine with a young cheap QB now vs paying Geno a ton rn for it to not matter when the window arrives
You have to change the scheme on how we play on offense. And really overall. We need to be more at the moment dominate type on offense. Put fear in other defenses and run 3 plays we hold our hat on that they can’t stop and then add additions to those plays that look the same. And run it over and over yet with wrinkles. Then geno n Dk and Jsn will flourish then all the talk Will stop. I know! This team hasn’t done that at all for years and started with Pete and John. Now it bleeds on the fans, media talking so much and not really thinking it’s how we play and what we do. Like since it’s copy cat league. Why can’t we play like KC, Bal, Bills, GB and make the offense the powerhouse and watch how the defense/special teams excel of that!
Can the light go on with this light switch? Probably. But to know- the rest of the circuit needs to be wired right, the light fixture working, the bulb good, the breaker on... and no wind storms or power outages. But we blame the light switch before checking the bulb or testing for power because it's easy.
Before they no longer have geno on the roster. I'd love to see him behind an improved oline..... But before that happens aquire a great OC... I would even be happy to see Schottenheimer return. Grubb is not going to help us... He's our problem.
I want Carson Wentz. He’s spent the last two years behind Stafford and Mahomes. Coached by McVay and Reid. I wanna see if he can regain his elite level of play from his early career.
Yes, Geno is good enough to win a Super Bowl. However, the real issue I see here is that the roster isn’t a championship caliber yet. And by the time it gets there (another 1-2+ years), is Geno still where he is, or is he regressing as he pushes closer to 40? Just a hard spot to be in when you are trying to win a Super Bowl
The front office should draft a QB and O-lineman. Keep Geno for maybe 2 years tops until the young QB is ready. John should've attempted this awhile back when RW was demanding all that money. We need to groom a QB and not just shove him out there to sell tickets. If possible i would keep the coaching staff together. Just to keep from starting over in some areas. jmho
LOL Geno is a bum. Can’t even win a playoff game or get to the playoffs with this guy. Everyone blames everyone else besides the actual issue, Geno. I can’t WAIT until they move on
Geno is not a bum or an ahole. Geno is solid but kinda goofy. QBs with his skills don't just fall out the sky. Miscommunication has cost the TEAM 2 games they should have won.
Lol bro you don’t know anything about football, he’s definitely not a bum guy can play . He’s just not elite , I’ve watched teams spend decades trying to find elite . Who’s gonna replace him right now ?
D got way better from the season start. The GLARING weakness is the O Line. The 10 best O Lines in the league are all going to the playoffs...we can't even get 1 yard when we need it.
simple answer. YES with at least a B+ o line and a A- run game. he is a great qb with a phenomenal arm, but we can't rely for him to be the reason we win every game.
A big question becomes how to find your long term qb. The idea that you're going to draft your next qb and he is going to step in and start is not realistic. We need to keep Geno for 3-4 more years and train up a replacement. We're going to need to test out qb's like Howell, Hall and other over the next few years.
Paying a ton of money for a 3-4 contract is going to stunt the teams growth tremendously. Especially when they can be legit contenders by 2026-2027. Move on from him and get a younger and cheaper option, if Geno wants a massive payday
What are you guys smoking???????????? Even the thought is delusional! DK will ask for a trade unless we get an OC with an imagination. Eliminating Geno isn't the answer. Trade DK and get some draft capital, though the next draft is not a franchise QB year. Keep Geno until there is draft potential for a franchise QB...get a good OC, a serviceable running back and some offensive linemen.
😂😂😂😂 i knew how his second season was going to go because of his years in the nfl crazy how these football minds are to stupid to realize that but a dumb enough to ask a question like this. The only way is him with the lob beastmode and on a rookie contract if we can do that than i say absolutely if not than anyone suggesting lets pay him are just ignorant to football.
The question is not whether Smith has the ability to win a Superbowl, for his part he is more than capable. The question for so many average to just above average teams is whether or not the team has the coaching talent to coach a quality QB to win a Superbowl. Seattle does not have the offensive coaching talent to lead any team with any QB anywhere near a Superbowl. They can’t even successfully manage to develop consistency week to week to prepare the team to win in regular season games. Geno has been self coaching to his limits and it has mitigated some of the coaching shortfalls, but obviously he can’t do it alone. Moving on from Smith is the dumbest decision Seattle could possibly make in the next two years. Fix the offensive coaching , figure out the O line and find a quality backup qb who can carry bags under Smith for next 2-3 years and stop all this nonsense about throwing the baby out with the bath water. We have QB and a head coach, everyone else is disposable and interchangeable or can FO and try their luck on a different team ✌️
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! He keeps throwing INTs in the red zone. He almost did it tonight against the bears.
If we can't keep Geno Smith vertical than there's no reason to pay the guy, we need to invest heavily in the trenches and then address the qb situation, probably can't do both right now.

I would rather see a young guy screw up than have to go through another season with Geno.
Geno isn't the guy. Inconsistent
Typical Seattle media-blame the O-line for everything while acting like a guy with 17 TDs, 15 INTs, and no playoff wins isn’t part of the problem.
When Geno almost threw that interception in Thursday night game while throwing it in double coverage tells me that Geno is a bridge QB.
Right?! I am so over it! It’s Geno. How is it that it’s the Oline and Grubb but not the one throwing interceptions?
Geno would have to have a legion of boom type defense and a solid running game to lean on to be a super bowl winning qb.
The team is JS team. If he wants to draft or trade for a QB he will. Geno is good enough. If they put everything into the lines and TE they will be much better. DK is questionable, he's just too darn sensitive.
He’s got the arm talent forsure but he’s still immature and a pouter at 34. Also makes insanely stupid throws as well
Just finish the season and let him go. If he stays make him a backup. Go get a younger QB that is mobile and don’t throws INTs in the red zone constantly.
We have convinced ourselves that Geno being the dude the past 3 years and see where we are at now? Now we are backtracking really hard.
What a smart way to think about it guy
I don't think there is any chance they pay him that. Worst case they go with a cheaper vet option out there knowing it's not going to be a super bowl run & wait & see what shows up in the draft, all while saving some $$
I think the real SB window for us begins in 2026-2027. I'd be fine with a young cheap QB now vs paying Geno a ton rn for it to not matter when the window arrives
If we don’t overspend on Geno and he walks we will have a bad year and get a top 5 pick and grab a QB
And is that a guarantee? Not even close.
15 Tds 17 Ints Benchwarmer smith no raise no sir. No new contract let him go keep a good receiving core tank a season or two and rebuild .
What are you talking about the seahawks can't even win a home game with geno lmao😂
That’s on the roster. Not Geno
Right?!
No too many dum pics like just throw da ball away stop forcing it or take off n run more we know u can run

Go after Sam Darnold. Guy looks like he turned his career around.
Do NOT bring him back next year. Enough being stuck in mediocrity.
I want Carson Wentz. He’s spent the last two years behind Stafford and Mahomes. Coached by McVay and Reid. I wanna see if he can regain his elite level of play from his early career.

@@quentinrector5923 Looks reasonable to me.
15 tds 17 ints good enough for a super bowl I think not
Answer: No
Yes.
No
😂😂NO 👎 garbage
LOL Geno is a bum. Can’t even win a playoff game or get to the playoffs with this guy. Everyone blames everyone else besides the actual issue, Geno. I can’t WAIT until they move on
Agreed.

Leave the high-level thinking up to professionals.
D got way better from the season start. The GLARING weakness is the O Line. The 10 best O Lines in the league are all going to the playoffs...we can't even get 1 yard when we need it.
Free agency we have to attack for a guard or center. Get a blue chip player and get best player available. But we need a strong strong run game.
No😂 this guy is joke 🙄
simple answer. YES with at least a B+ o line and a A- run game. he is a great qb with a phenomenal arm, but we can't rely for him to be the reason we win every game.
I think with a C+ O Line and a B defense, he can win it all
A big question becomes how to find your long term qb. The idea that you're going to draft your next qb and he is going to step in and start is not realistic. We need to keep Geno for 3-4 more years and train up a replacement. We're going to need to test out qb's like Howell, Hall and other over the next few years.
We said this when we GOT Geno and they refused to do it. Geno isn't the answer. He never has been.

All of Geno’s yards don’t equal touchdowns. I don’t give a crap how many yards he has.
If we pay him I am going to freak out.
Geno is left defenseless every snap our o line is to blame for our offensive word
Salk pretending to be a GM has got to make Brock roll his eyes in his mind.
compare matt hasselbeck to geno than ask that question
Geno is good enough to win a super bowl. You don't need a fantastic QB. Just a good one.
He's not good though. He's average at best. And you can't afford to commit serious dollars to an average QB when you have so many glaring holes.
Is geno better than the rest of the starting qbs in his own division?
1-Stafford 2-Purdy 3-Smith 4-Murray
Right…..It’s all the guys on the Oline, receivers and Grubb. Not the guy throwing the ball to the other team…..He makes crap decisions.
Have him play out his contract and develop someone else
Geno has lost more games then he has won as our starter. 4 years we have given him. NEXT!!!
No
I doubt it.
No Seahawks cannot. Geno would be better with an o-line but struggles with creating space and extending plays. That is required to win super bowls.
That was the most embarrassing win that I have ever witnessed. What an embarrassing organization it has become. Unbelievable.
Rebuilt the team let Geno go and Dk too..this team won’t be good next year.
A better question is can he get us to the playoffs. With a realistic contending team not because the nfc west is the worst division in the league!
Anything over 20 mil/year for Geno is 💩
They struggle to win a game!!!!!! , what are you going on about, I know its pantomine season but until he leaves we are going nowhere.....
No.
Nope.
nope

lol plays with the best play caller, has an elite receiving core, good run game, elite defense. Stop it.
No
