  • It has been really wet, so although we made a big start on the landscaping, we've had to stop. Actually, it's been really useful for us to see where we have real drainage issues that we can put right as we do the hard landscaping.

As you say, a good opportunity to sort out the issues as well as prepare the hard landscaping. Good Luck Fella!

Oh bless you! So frustrating but good to be able seen the challenging areas. It'll all be worth it in the end. Keep chugging on, this weather has to turn soon 🤞

This is going to be such an amazing improvement. Beautiful plan and a fixed drainage issue, what more could one want. Thank you so much for bringing us along. Blessings

Joe we moved last year to a little village outside Leominster and we’ve had very similar issues with collapsed drainage, failing soakaways alll to do with service water. We have just had new soakaways put in and we are now restructuring our grading digging out French drains as we go. We have a lovely tree in our back garden which has been hugely effected this winter trying very hard to save it. Looking forward to seeing the progress you will have a beautiful garden by the time you get done.🌸🌸🌸

Have you tried creating 3 feet deep holes with a hand pole digger and filling it with larger pebbles, to drain the water back to ground water level? Works a charm. You can have several and create a slope to a designated bog area for wildlife. Mounds can host plants that dislike wet feet. Hope it helps.. 🌿🪻🌷🐦

@@moniquemannaert3468 we have a unique back garden area. There once was a 16’ x 32’ in ground pool back there and when they filled it in, they used really horrible dirt/clay/yuck soil. We are amending left-right-and center. It is coming along nicely though. But what a mess

Aw that’s typical isn’t it? ….But it’s great the drainage issue was discovered before any more work done . So this time it was good that “rain stopped play” …it’s typical in these older country properties I think. Really enjoying seeing how it’s going Joe…thanks for bringing us along on the journey. It will be beautiful I’m sure when you’re done … oh sorry…a garden is never “done” 😊

Good job that the earth was already dug out sloping away from the house. It shows you are all professionals at this! As you say, probably a good thing to show what needs to be done and a good stage to adjust any drainage plans. A blessing in disguise? I'm sure it must be frustrating for you though, not being able to just get on with it? Sounds like a good excuse for a break and a cup of tea! 😂

Oh my, you could make a good bog garden there. But the progress is looking good, Joe.😊

😮 and I thought my garden with its heavy clay soil was bad! As you say, it’s an opportunity to sort out the drainage issues, there’s always something when you move house.

We are building a new house…and including a rainwater harvesting system…to use the water for loo flushing, washing clothes and gardening. Why don’t you do the same…financial outlay at first but good environmentally and money-saving in the long run. You could put the storage tank under your seating area. Jinxy
