People always say “this song sounds like this” or “that song sounds like that,” but that’s completely missing the point of music as an art form. Music does not come out of thin air, it is derived from a long line of inspiration and emotion. Music is bound to sound similar to other songs, especially those similar in characteristic (genre, emotional appeal, etc.); that’s just the nature of music. Each song still provides a new perspective and a new experience for the listener that can be quite inspirational and moving. This song is a pure work of art, and although it does resemble elements of Madeon’s track - which is also a great song - it still makes me feel something that the other doesn’t. It provides a different narrative - a different experience. Music has been and always will be derived from previous works, that is how the art functions. It’s a part of its DNA and what makes it so beautiful. Recently, I feel many have got caught up in the whole copyright debate with Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, etc., but I think we should stop comparing songs, and enjoy each and every one for the gem that they are :)
thank you for ur comment! honestly i was listening to some random other song ua-cam.com/video/Jj7fcaTYSPk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FaceMeltingDance and at 3:09 the melody sounds kinda similar too LOL
Honestly this song seems completely different to me than Technicolor. Artist will often "tip the hat" so to speak at artists they look up to in their music. In EDM sometimes theres a likeness of beat, or synth, or lead, or hook. In rap you'll hear a bar used from another song. It's not a copy at all, but it does show that madeon is one of k?d's idols. But we already knew that. He's inspired by Porter and Madeon but his sound is much different still.
lol the only similarity between technicolor and this is the lead instruments sound similar, and even then this is pretty much the same lead k?d uses in his songs, but more airy and with more reverb (so it sounds similar to technicolor). Otherwise, this follows a similar rhythm and melodic structure as k?d's previous songs, using similar samples as previous works, and sounds overall different from technicolor. To me, this was taken down because of the mixing and how it isn't up to par with his previous works.
I’m listening back to this cuz I remember when it got taken down because ppl said it sounded like that madeon song. Such times

Love the guy, but I can see why he took it down. The mixing truly is quite bad. Wish he would've finished it anyways.
